Harold came through and had a difficult time getting the cap off because DEP put the water line directly over it. After much effort he was finally able to get the snake into the line but it drew out roots. To get the line flowing he had to use a Hi Pressure water jet to clean the line. When you have a Brown Water backup in your basement, Call Universal. Harold made sure it was flowing properly before he wrapped it up. He quoted me a reasonable price and could accommodate me soon. Sam came to do the job. We put new batteries in the timer. But it didn't seem to be working properly. Sam said that not only was it not working properly, but that it wasn't an outdoor clock. Said we should replace it. Of course I was stressed at something not working and really stressed at the thought of what it would cost to replace. Sam looked at a price list from his supplier and said that a clock for 2 zones was only $125. Ok, not terrible. But how many hundreds and hundreds was the installation going to cost? He said "I came to get your system going for the season. I have to do whatever it takes to do that. There's no extra fee for that." I thought that I couldn't passably be hearing correctly. No extra cost? He and his assistant went and got the new timer and came back. But he said he wanted to mount it inside rather than where the old one was, outside my house. He didn't have a drill long enough to go through the wall to run the wire from the sprinkler system to the timer. So, came back after the weekend and did it. I did have to pay for the new timer and another small part that had burned out. But as far as labor, not a penny more than the original price to turn on the system! That is unheard-of these days! I'm so happy to have a new, reliable service and happy to recommend them.

Second, the technician Anthony asked me ONE question about my issue (a clogged shower drain) in which he asked if my toilet flushing causes the shower to clog, which I said no. He DID NOT look in the drain, he DID NOT look in the shower, and then showed me a pricing guide for a quote of $695 plus tax. When I confronted him about why he did not look in the shower, look in the drain, or ask me questions about the shower clog before quoting me a price, he got belligerent in voice and told me "I am the expert, you called me". I've had to have drains snaked before - they cost $100-$200 tops, or $300 in an emergency. Roto Rooter hires unprofessional and uncourteous people, and are predatory in their pricing quotes. Avoid.
