Our condo HOA got stuck with someone using the recycle dumpster to unload all their refuse causing obstruction and safety hazard. I called them on the Sunday before Christmas and they returned my call within just a few minutes. Honestly, they were there on site in 10-15 minutes. They actually beat me to the premises. I just spoke to the Supervisor Roland, he said that for every 5-star review the employees get bonuses and perks. I said that was unethical to put monetary OR perks tied to reviews. That is a form of bribery. Roland insisted that he cares and will talk to the Franchise Mgr. about my concerns. My personal opinion is that this Franchise 1-800 Got Junk IS JUNK. Their pricing is overinflated and they have unethical business practices and terrible training policies forcing their employees to use high-pressure tactics to get 5-star reviews. Roland the supervisor wanted to talk with Devon and James about their conduct. I told him, he shall do no such thing. Devon and James are only doing what they were trained to do by the Supervisor - YOU - ROLAND and the unethical Manager and Franchise owner. 1800 Got Junk will not change their pricing, they will never change their policies for bonuses for reviews and they will do nothing to change anything because at the very top of their infrastructure they are greedy and do not care! The crew that showed up was professional and polite, but everything leading up to that was a frustrating mess. My appointment time kept getting pushed back, and instead of being given honest updates, I was told unrealistic arrival times. At one point the crew even admitted they still had to fill their truck, dump it, and then drive an hour to me--yet I was told it would only take "about an hour." The supervisor rescheduled me for the next day and said I was a priority, but then I got a call saying my pickup window was later than promised and that there were two jobs ahead of me. I don't live at the property and had to drive 40 minutes each way just to meet them, so this was a huge inconvenience. When the truck finally arrived, it became obvious it was too small to handle everything I had explained during booking. I should have been told up front that it would take multiple loads or offered another option. Instead, several items were left behind. I was not about to pay another $800 for a second load or wait hours for them to dump and come back. In the end, I was given $100 off, which doesn't come close to making up for the wasted time, hassle, and incomplete service. The whole experience felt like a bait and switch. I've used the service in the past and not had any problems. Then the weekend of June 21 the day of June 23 and the day of June 24 each time two sets of gentlemen were out to my house to dismantle my Sleep number bed which they had problems doing because they didn't have the proper equipment. I didn't realize for a week that a handgun had been stolen from my residence. They are now investigating, and I have filed an official police report which are also investigating. Unprofessional. Scheduled online, they showed up on time. The job was too big for them. Told me they can only do one truck and I should have called and asked for more than one truck. They were lazy, setting aside items they deemed to still have value to keep for themselves. Sorting my trash in front of me, taking longer than needed. They didn't even fill up the truck 100% and charged me as if they did. Could easily have fit more items. Happily paid for them just to leave. The ole' bait and switch. Quoted one price over the phone which was then much higher once on site. I spoke with local customer service and was VERY specific about the size of my load and cost of a full truck and " no additional charges " after the fact. Was quoted a price, which I requested in writing for a full truck with 2 guys, which then changed upon arrival. What they don't tell you is there's an hourly charge of $60.00 per guy for every hour beyond 1 they spend loading the truck. How convenient they leave that out. Took my business elsewhere. read more

I've used GOT JUNK a couple of times. My experience has been mixed. You have to stay with them every minute to make sure that your instructions are followed. It seems like every team that has been to my house has one employee who listens and cares while the rest could not care less. I have found that no matter how clear I am with the directions of what is or is not to be thrown away, they don't listen. Sealed boxes of new things are thrown away while full trash bags are left sitting. It's very frustrating. I don't want to think that people are stealing but last week when they got here, I went through the garage and was very specific about what needed to be thrown away- empty cardboard boxes and trash bags. Imagine my surprise when I went out to the garage to find my brand new hand cart missing. I explained the situation several times. Both workers tried to avoid looking for the handcart, telling me that they would unload the truck before their next job and call me if they found it. I had to repeat myself and ask 4 times before I said, "Never mind, I'll look for it myself." That motivated them to look and it was found almost immediately. There were plenty of other things still lying around, so it's not like they could say they were told to remove everything. I feel like I have to play security in my own house in order to not lose things of value. read more

VERY VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE !!! I did everything online... I schedule the appointment and NO WHERE I mean NO WHERE on the website does it say anything about being charged. I wrote in detail that I was wanting to donation a loveseat they called me 15mins before their schedule time and said they would be there within an hour and it would be 85.00 I said NO WAY why are you charging me there was no mention of a charge on the website or even in the email I received as a confirmation of the appointment. When I spoke to James the driver and said I am not aware of there being a charge he said well its will be 85.00 you can call a supervisor to see about getting it waived so I called and the lady that answer said sorry not happening and there isn't a supervisor and we don't waive any fees and ended the call. Horrible; absolutely horrible. No other word for this disreputable company. We sold our home in Citrus Heights and contracted 1800 Got Junk to pick up some stuff, including a fridge. The guys showed up with no tools to unhook the fridge (plumbed in ice maker) and we had to borrow tools for them. Due to their ineptness in removing the pipe, the kitchen & garage were flooded causing nearly $4000 of damage. Despite a lawyer's letter, emails and phonecalls, 1800 Got Junk constantly avoided engaging with us, and, when they did, I got empty promises of "we want to make this right". We've never used a junk pickup service before, but we called 1800-Got-Junk because many donation centers are closed due to covid and we also don't have the means to handle large furniture. Our drivers called us in the morning to let us know they were running a little behind schedule and also gave us an ETA. They called again about a half hour before their ETA to confirm the time and let us know they were on their way. When they arrived, they were extremely professional, responsive, and honest. They wore masks the entire time and even LOWERED the price of their original estimate because our stuff took up significantly less space than they anticipated. Our two-year-old insisted on watching them load the truck from the porch, and they were super nice about us watching them the entire time they loaded. They treated our stuff with care and assured us they'd bring it to the warehouse for donation rather than a landfill. What a relief it is for a business to deal with customers in a professional and honest manner. Also, their phone customer service line is fantastic. Both reps I spoke to were courteous, knowledgeable, and professional. Honestly these guys were more professional than the big-name insurance company we recently dealt with, and I'm sure they work harder and get paid a lot less. Doesn't get much better than this, folks.
