The picture I showed her had maybe 15 in the vase, my centerpieces had 6. Plus she added a white boa, which was so tacky. In addition to the MOG and FOG not getting their pieces till after dinner because no one knew where they were to not giving a discount offered because we lived too far to pay cash, this vendor was a huge disappointment. It got worse when I reviewed her on wedding wire (not well obviously) and she emailed me asking to change it with no sincere apology about the horrid centerpieces. After several emails where she tried to show where she "worked with us" and was hoping we would change the review (like changing the number of bouquets months prior, if she didn't want changes she should have said so in the contract), accusing us of delivering the rental vases late (the contract said 1/17 and we delivered 1/12), and saying she didn't have the picture from our meeting (this is my fault?) to blaming the vendors for the lack of quality and not her ability to manage expectations of the ostrich plumes... it really is just mind blowing how unprofessional she was and the lack of accountability. Response to owners comment 12/8/17: wouldn't it make sense downsizing from 4 round tables to one long table, to actually not change the number of plumes required for the "dramatic" centerpieces we requested? Since it would have, in fact, doubled the number of plumes? I find it unfortunate and tacky that you are broadcasting our attendee number (especially since its inaccurate) as it is nobody's business and not your information to discuss. I placed the order online, scheduled pick up, and moved on with my life. Unfortunately, I received an email about 5 days before I was due to pick up the arrangement essentially advising that my selection was no longer available because the flowers wouldn't be in season the month of December. Huh? They explained that they would do their best but I asked for a refund instead. Apparently there was a website issue that allowed the purchase to go through but shouldn't have. Disappointed and frustrated, I placed a last minute birthday order with a large corporation and tried to put the matter behind me. Well color me surprised when the Flowers & Fancies team sent me an arrangement to apologize for the error. I was shocked, surprised, and necessarily reminded that mistakes happen and it's best to have patience and understanding, especially for local, well meaning businesses. I wanted sunflowers and she told she would add some orange flowers and some greenery. The arrangement was so much more than that! In addition to the sunflowers and greenery, she added 5 other types of flowers that were perfect with the sunflowers and the greenery. It was beautiful and my daughter LOVED it! They had perennial hibiscuses, very healthy looking hydrangea varieties, lavenders, clematis, elephant ear plants and a good collection of other sun and shady perennials along with annuals. We worked together to set item level budgets and design choices (e.g. flowers, printing, etc.). However, each proposal we received was over budget. Communication also became a problem. When she overlooked scheduling problem between the venders and our requirements, she became defensive about her faults. Also, she promised she would only manage one marriage a weekend, but on our weekend she had two weddings. I wish the relationship would have worked better and I hope she learns from our concerns.

We hired…read moreDiana to help with wedding day coordination, but in fact she ended up helping with planning, crisis management, and general advice in the months leading up to the wedding. Given that vendors often try to double as event planners (especially caterers, venues, and DJs), Diana had the difficult job of coordinating the coordinators. She did so with aplomb: building positive relationships with the other vendors, soliciting input on the master schedule, maintaining flexibility, and helping cultivate a sense of joy on the big day. She could easily charge double or triple for her services. Diana helped with the following decisions and more: creating a floor plan, hiring transportation for the wedding day (we used three vendors: a hotel shuttle, an all-purpose van, and a limo), hiring and negotiating a better rate for drapes, brainstorming ideas, communicating with other vendors, buying small items that we forgot (tea candles, a car decorating kit, and a guest book), lending us some common wedding items (a ring pillow, candle holders, and a "bird cage" for gifts), delivering ribbons for the wedding cake, and creating a master schedule. We also appreciated that Diana was fine with the unusual gender roles in our planning process, as the groom handled most of the planning. We found that some vendors were quite sexist in this respect, but Diana was fine with communicating with both of us. In short, we can't emphasize enough how thankful we are for Diana's help.
