I personally don't care for this chain in the US, most of EU, or anywhere in SE Asia, but this particular outlet is a stand-out. Bottom line: I can't believe I'm writing this but this McCafe is one of my top 5 restaurants not just in HK but also on earth.

I ordered a two piece meal for my mom which came with a leg and thigh (spicy) some waffle fries and drink. Not bad! Not bad at all, it wasn't salty, fries and chicken were crispy. I prefer this much more than the one back at home. I actually don't even eat it at all back at home. I also saw that they had a dried seaweed battered chicken. Wishing I had tried it. If you're there, give it a try. For visitors visiting Wan Chai and missing a bit of home (if you're American), this is right across the street from the wan chai station. You won't miss the sign! The ambience was like a retro diner, with unique CD art on the walls, diner-like stools, and photos of guests enjoying their meal at Burger Joy. I wasn't feeling a burger, so I ordered some truffle fries and wings. I was so impressed at the amount of truffle they sprinkle on the fries and the flavor of the wings. SO hot and fresh which made the meal so delicious. I went with Cajun seasoning and the exterior was lightly crispy and coated with the powder. Fantastic flavor! As a Westerner, I could rely on Burger Joy for that classic American style dining. They have late hours and close at 2:30AM! Glad my friend and I discovered this spot as we have been out so late and nothing but convenient stores were open in Wan Chai.

It was and still is such a hard thing to find in HK, which seems strange given the popularity of burgers and the huge expat population. Now that several big time fast food chains (#1) have opened up, Burger Joys and their pricey burgers may seem somewhat pedestrian. Burger Joys is still fairly unconventional from most of the other burger spots, which includes serving full on booze (even cocktails!) and remaining open for 24 hours a day. The latter is mainly for location's sake, Wanchai and it's red light district vibe tends to spurn a lot of expat visits; many of whom are less likely to look for a HK Cafe over the idea of a burger and fries. The burgers themselves evoke memories of In N Out by presentation alone, sans taste and price. That said, the burgers are good. I'm not sure if the signature double cheeseburger warrants the $139HKD price tag, but it's still tasty. Throw in a shake and some fries (better with truffle!), the meal gets closer to 200HKD+ with the service charge. Thank goodness they accept credit cards. The service has been a mix of great and subpar. Some days when the gentleman from Vancouver is working, the service is professional, fun, and efficient. Some other days / hours, it's a crapshoot of casual and lackluster staff. The mileage definitely varies. I suppose the adage applies: come for the food and nothing else. Convenient for travelers who are less adventurous in trying food and for locals who want to get an authentic flavor of American fast food. However, good quality fast food is cheap and plentiful in Hong Kong, making it difficult to recommend McDonald's over local chains. There are a few items that have slight modifications on the menu, but the base experience (beef patty, bread, french fries) is pretty much the same as anywhere in the US.

Wasn't really hungry when I came, but I just HADDDDD to try at least something there cus I trekked all the way to the HK side. Alas, I settled for the Skinny Jeans ($80), which came with a smaller cheeseburger and side salad. The salad was fresh and the dressing was dece. The burger tho... STAR of the show. The bun was delightfully soft, but structured enough to hold up to the juicy patty. The patty itself... HOLY YESSSSS. Their patties are made of dry-aged beef and cooked to medium perfection. Wish I was hungrier so I could have tried one of their more unique creations. That will have to wait until next time I guess!

The chicken breast is so crispy from being double fried, and the sauce doesn't make it soggy. Great place for a burger. Enough to make me forget In n' Out!

As for burgers, I had the "trailer trash burger" and that was really good. I appreciate the very light brioche bun that they used, though coating it in flour for a burger seems like a pretty bold move. The slaw was nice and crunchy, which added to the mushy texture of their chilli, and the beef patty, while small according to some yelper's standards seem reasonably sized considering the price and where you are geographically (Beef is really expensive here). The fries were crunchy and well seasoned. I did also grab a few fries from my friend's order of chilli fries, and while the chilli tastes nice, you can really taste the lack of Cajun spices. I also feel slightly betrayed that they used velvita instead of cheddar despite calling it cheddar chilli fries. Otherwise, this place is great, and I'd definitely come again, though I might just have a regular Soda the next time around.

It had been so long since I had had a good burger and of one that reminded me of In-N-Out in California. Their burgers are really one of the best in Hong Kong and while is on the pricier side, is most definitely worth it. The ingredients making up the burger are especially fresh, from the beef patty, to the lettuce and onions. The cheese sauce on the fries was well seasoned (it wasn't just melted cheese) and the Apple pie iced tea was surprisingly refreshing and definitely suitable for the autumn season. The price of a standard burger on average will set you at least HK$100 alone, add some fries to share and a drink, and you're looking at a HK$200 meal easily. Not quite what some people might have in mind for "fast food". But a treat once in a while is well deserved. I can't wait to try the chili fries next time!

The best way to get here is to walk up the stairs from Queens road. The menu here is simple: burgers, fries, beer, and soft drinks. My rating of five stars is based on the following: 1) Food: 5 stars 2) Environment/vibe: 4.5 stars (would like some more comfortable seating) 3) Value: 4 stars (5 stars with entertainer app) Recommended dishes: Apple pie ice tea, Honbo burger They have a few offerings that aren't beef patty based such as the soft shell crab burger and scallop burger. If you haven't been before I would start with the hamburgers. I have had the short shell crab burger, which is also very good. It's deep fried to a nice crisp and paired with a chicken liver mouse. Really fatty and delicious. The Honbo burger is analogous to a double double you would get at in and out. The normal party is cut in half and you get two patties. There is more contact with the grill which leads to more browning and deliciousness. The Apple pie ice tea here is really great. They add an Apple slice that is browned w/ cinnamon. It really does give the tea an apple pie tint and is also not too sweet. If you are looking for a good burger I would come here. Not a lot of seating so not meant for a big party, but the times I've been seating hasn't been an issue.
