The Good: this is the only do-it-yourself laundromat in this area of HK island. It is open around the clock, so you can go wash your clothing at any hour of the day. There are small stools to sit on while you wait for your laundry to be done. The machines are relatively clean and are effective at washing your clothing. This is very convenient for when you really just have to wash your clothes and your building doesn't have a washer. There are also dryers! Yes, you can actually dry your own laundry instead of having to hang it up in your apartment or up on your roof. They sell detergent and those little laundry dryer fabric softener sheets. The Bad: Because HK is so humid, the dryers are quite humid too. After running my laundry through the dryer twice, the clothing was still quite damp. The dryer windows get very foggy while drying the clothes - something I haven't seen doing laundry in other countries. Having to schlep all of my damp laundry back to my apartment was a pain because the wet clothing was heavy. I'm sure this problem is a non issue during the less humid winter months, but for October I would have had to either run the dryer three to four times OR just given up and dried my clothing at home. I think this place is a great option for those who want the freedom of doing their laundry whenever they'd like, but the humidity situation in the dryers was a deal breaker for me.

They weigh the clothes, we paid cash in advance for 10% off, and they told us to come back for same day pick up around 4pm (or you can pick up next day). The clothes came back in a neat package, they are perfectly folded, and no crazy-strong laundry detergent smell (it smells fresh and clean!) Laundry usually takes three days and sometimes longer. Sometimes something gets ruined, but not too often... and you´ll have to iron a lot of your clothes after picking them up dried and a bit crumpled. Lace will get ruined!!! Better wash delicate pieces by hand at home. The laundrette is convenient and affordable. Deliver the laundry in plastic bags and make sure to put light and dark in different bags, they will be washed and charged bagwise. A bag costs usually $40, if it is heavy, a bit more. Once I got two shirts that weren´t mine, and of course I returned them. If any of my clothes have been given to other customers by accident, I haven´t noticed yet. Advisable to wash delicates and wool by hand in your apartment sink and have them dry in the shower because at that laundrette and surely at others as well they wash everything with at least 40 degrees C, and everything gets put in the dryer. Expect minor shrinkage and as said be prepared to get some pieces ruined. Must say that I have shrunk some of my own clothing before when I did my own laundry back home because sometimes my thoughts are somewhere else when I set the temperature on the washing machine. I think here they constantly use 40 degrees. The clothes smell really good and they luckily use a washing powder that doesn´t give me rashes. That is maybe what actually keeps me coming back since most detergents and washing powders give me rashes and they smell too strong. Yes, overall, I´m a fan...

And I'm reviewing it because even though few things can go wrong with a dry cleaner, this is mine and it's good. It does the job. Price wise, like every other dry cleaner in Wan Chai (around 90HKD for four shirts - this seems to be a promotion, but the promotion also seems to be permanent, so it's not a promotion?). Anyway, I picked it because it's two minutes walking from home, but I'd have switch to another one that's three minutes walking had something gone wrong. I don't bring many clothes to the dry cleaner but my boyfriend goes on a weekly basis to get his white shirts cleaned and ironed. They open at 8 in the morning and close at 8 in the evening, a big enough window for us to bring and pick up the clothes, especially in the morning as it's on our way to the tube. The shirts usually come really well ironed and prepared with pegs around the cuffs. It's a little tricky to undo them and they are pretty well fixed but this is better than letting them loose. And what's most important: they come clean and well ironed. As they are usually white, it would have been really noticeable it that hadn't been the case. It's true that I've never brought any tricky-stained piece of clothing, but so far so good. Ah, you can pay with your Oyster there too! Even more convenient.

They did a great job! Just don't remember the name. Also same day services, with folding and they use liquid softener for our clothes.
