I've been to 3D museum in Bangkok and it was so much fun, so when I learned that there's one in…read moreHong Kong I just have to visit!! I was warned that this place is small, so I know not to expect the two storey high gigantic backdrops I've seen before. The museum is actually not as tiny as I expected, but the backdrops are really small. They should find a building with taller space, and expand the drawings a few feet each way. Right now you have to be very careful not to include the outside area and the spot lights in your photos. Also, the low ceiling means that the light makes the seams between floor and walls more obvious. Another disappointment I have is that there are only a few scenes that are Hong Kong related. Otherwise it's over 90% related to One Piece. For people who are not anime fans, this just isn't very interesting. They seem to change their artworks regularly, many of the photos I saw in the reviews are no longer around. Nonetheless, we still have fun, and there is a nice guy who goes around showing us how to pose (he also snap pictures which hopefully you'll buy from him but there isn't much pressure.) Some scenes posted a sample pics to give you an idea how to post but unfortunately a lot of them don't have one and left us rather clueless as to where we are supposed to stand. The 4 stars here is a bit generous but I do want this place to succeed and improve and see similar businesses opening up. You do need to have friends to go with you. And better some friend who's a perfectionist, instead of just pressing the shutter, to advise you where to stand, how to pose, and don't mind stepping around a bit to get at the perfect angle for the best effect. Useful tips: - they have lockers available but charge for it. - wear jeans/shorts but not dresses and skirts which are less gravity defying. - if you go on your birthday with a friend, it's $149 for two instead of $128 each.

Ahh so fun!!! Came here with my dad because he was the best at taking pics (girl gotta get that…read moreinsta pic right??) and surprisingly, we both had a great time!! They changed some of their pictures when I went (for example there wasn't a water wing) but it was still a great experience. They have different sections such as an area for One Piece and another one for HK lifestyle. There's an area where the place gets a bit crowded but I didn't care much for those backdrops so I just skipped ahead. We made two rounds around the place before leaving and it wasn't overwhelmingly long :) Came on a Saturday afternoon too! But...a huge crowd came in right after we left so thank god we left!

The journey starts with hip and stylish shops, art galleries, bars, restaurants and clubs. As you approach the escalator area, the scenes explodes up the mountain into Elgin St and the immediate neighborhood, transforming the entire area into a very hot bar, global restaurant and bar scene. Further down, the street transforms again into a Mecca for high quality Chinese antiquities such as furniture, calligraphy, stone, ceramic, porcelain, jade and other treasures. Just past the Famous Wen Wu temple you can jog down the stairs to yikes I think it's Lee St where you'll find a several block lane filled with Chinese Bric-a-brac, but it's still a fun browse for tourists. The point of my photos (and Reggie) is that as you meander through the modern art galleries, shops, restaurants and dealers, keep an eye out for the fleeting yet still present remnants of bygone Hong Kong, which still exist in the cracks, shadows and crevices of this modern, urban, sophisticated city. Enjoy!

Still wondering why it's called Hollywood Road, but it is a quintessential place to visit and a…read moremust -see when you have visitors in town. I came across this spot on Google Maps while wandering around Causeway Bay and thought, Why not…read moreswing by at noon and see it for ourselves?Just like the reviews said, it's a short ceremony without much fanfare. My husband, who's a third-generation Hong Kong resident, had no clue why they fire this thing every day either. Thankfully, a tour guide filled us in on the story: back in the day, the head of Jardine, a huge British development company, was arriving in Hong Kong. To welcome him, the company thought it'd be a great idea to fire a cannon in the harbor. But, of course, firing a gun in the harbor without permission didn't sit well with the government. As punishment, a judge told them, you like firing cannons? Fine. You'll do it every day at noon. And so, this tradition was born! Now, it's a fun little tourist attraction. If you're in Causeway Bay, it's a quick stop worth checking out. Plus, right next to it is the stairway to an underground tunnel that connects to all the shops and great restaurants across the highway--so you can catch the cannon, then grab a bite!

There is a sort of tradition with this place, namely that the gun is fired off every day at noon. I…read moresuspect it has something to do with the original British colony. It can be a bit tricky to get to, and you have to time it right, because they only fire it off at noon. Mind you, that can be a little annoying because you are coming all the way here just to hear a cannon be fired, and it is a pretty loud cannon at that. Still, if you have time to spare, it is worth checking out. Just make sure you end up here at noon.

Metroplex has to be the BEST fucking movie theater in Hong Kong! Being bored at home, we decided…read moreto spend early Jan 1st watching movies as a family. Even though the Metroplex was fairly far away, they had an early show of "The Seventh Son" at the VIP theater for $100 with BREAKFAST INCLUDED!! We figured it was a pretty good deal and went to check the place out. It was pretty inconvenient to get to the cinema, the 110 van cost a whopping $9.80 per person and we still had to hike 4 blocks (!!) to get to the place. We should probably have taken a taxi but taxi nowadays no longer seat 5... Arriving just at about the time the movie starts, we didn't have a chance to check out the VIP lounge (!!!), but the 20 seats VIP auditorium did not disappoint. With wide leather seats that can seat someone double my size comfortably, there are buttons which you can use to lower the seat till you are laying almost horizontally! The movie was pretty forgettable though the special effects are good. The breakfast was surprising tasty. Served in a bento box, the western style breakfast I chose came with 2 pieces if hash browns, a surprisingly crispy and delicious mini croissant, scrambled eggs with a piece of ham, a few pieces of fruit, and a beverage. We weren't very hungry by the time we were done so we decided to watch another film, it was "Tak3n". This time it was in a regular theatre, and we were in the regular seats (still leather). I was impressed that we saw these movies before that are released in US, Taken 3 was not released till 1.5 weeks later in US and 7th son not for another month. 清倉令郎聽湯
