Imagine doors opening on command when you key in the correct code, activating the UV light switch and seeing a world of new clues spelled out for you, and distorting yourself as you go through - yes - a laser maze. There are seven different missions at Mr X and they all have different themes. Don't underestimate the challenges; they all require you to be thinking really hard and considering every possibility that's out there. You'll need to be cooperating with your friends well and talking about your ideas because they might know something you don't! What sets Mr X apart from a lot of other similar establishments in HK is the sheer size of the puzzle - I've been to many of them, and in most, you're trapped in that room and that's it. At Mr X, it's actually one HUGE area that's partitioned into smaller rooms, and the clues lead you on to going into the next rooms to eventually 'escape'. The team at Mr X is very friendly and if you're stuck, you can call for help and they'll give you a hint that's just enough to point you in the right direction. The games at Mr X definitely aren't cheap - the last time I checked it's $138 per person, and their newest room, room seven, is a whopping $180! I can't speak for that one as I haven't tried it, but I've done rooms one to six (I did them when they were having a student promotion - $100 per person) and they were definitely an experience I recommend! I would give it five stars but sigh, it only it were a little bit less expensive!

Mission X was what started my friends and I on a little bit of an obsession with these…read moreescape-the-room type of challenges. We found a good deal for it on Groupon (as how we find a lot of the things we do...), found a mutual date that works for us all and went. Do take note that you do have to book in advance and tell them which of the six rooms you want! I can't reveal too much or I'll be spoiling it, but the games here are pretty good. Yes, plural, because we've tried four out of the six rooms and if anything's an indication of how much we liked it, this is! The games really require you to be thinking on your feet and working closely with your friends. You'll have to be 'in the zone' and really focusing to be able to get into it! If you're stuck, you can press a button and the staff will come in, see where you are and give you a hint to help you out. Of all the rooms we tried, my favorite was Banished. It had the coolest storyline in my opinion, and the clues were very cryptic and creative. I really enjoyed all the rooms we did, and my friends felt the same way too. It's a very accomplishing feeling when we're able to successfully get the key and escape the room within the time limit! I think doing one of these mission games is a great thing to do with friends. It's different, and it really gets your brain working! The staff here at Mission X are very nice, and if the room hasn't been booked after your slot and you're still in the middle of solving your clues, they'll give you extra time. The rooms here are a little small though, so I don't recommend more than four or five people in a room at once. Having too many people isn't good either because it lowers the level of teamwork!

However,…read morenotice that this one is definitely different from the one I reviewed before, last time was definitely more kids friendly; as for this one, judging from its appearance, you know it is for adults or teens who love spending their evenings out. At least that is my impression on these places... as a kid, I have never been to here and I was one of those that went to bed around 8pm. (those were the days...) So I was pretty shocked when my colleague suggested going to an arcade after work together. Since we finished work around 6, most people were probably on their way home for dinner, this is was rather quiet. On top of that, City Landmark has been under loads of construction lately, (thanks to the Link again it is turning this mall into one of those that are home to brands) there are not many people in the mall. That day we walked in, I was pretty sure we were the only two people there. I guess it is all good as I was so worried about running into gangsters (what a chicken I am); anyways, we got our tokens and went shooting right away. Basically it looks pretty much the same as other places I have been to. Inside is pretty dark and I am sure you may smoke here... but I am not a smoker so I didn't. Anyways, spending a couple of hours here was fun and I am sure so long as you are home by 12, you probably will not run into those guys... you know.
