True, be honest, I spent quite a lot to take care a car, especially the parking fee is so heavy in Hong Kong, and I don't drive every day. However, once you find a place where your car can bring you easily, everything is worth. There is a cool place in Tsing Yi you can have a perfect view to two of the most stunning bridges in our city, where is hard to go without your own car. Drive yourself and park in Lantau Link visitor center, the carpark is always empty and nobody pay the parking fee. Follow the instruction to walk to visitor centre, then you can see the entrance of viewing platform is just few meters away from the door. This platform is a free public area in the top of Tsing Yi, and after you walk upstairs around ten minutes you can have almost 180 degree to view the whole Tsing Ma Bridge and Ting Kau Bridge. You can easily spot Ma Wan and Lantau Isalnd following Tsing Ma Bridge, and can take a look to Ting Kau and Sham Tseng from Ting Kau Bridge. The platform is a beautiful place to relax and capture sunset pictures, and of course, to view the fireworks (if there is any) at night. You can stay there as long as you wish, enjoy the beautiful lookout to the bridges, harbor and the islands. I've been here several times and there is always no one, feel like my private rooftop and that's probably a main reason why I love going so much.

A group of us from the office went on a guided tour: they first welcomed us at their office with a presentation and we then had a look at the Cheung Sha Wan market, which they manage. During the presentation we learned a few interesting facts about them: they started operating in 1946 and are a non for profit organization that provide local growers with support and marketing services (collection, distribution, etc.). As managers of the Cheung Sha Wan Market, they only charge a maximum of 10% of the market agent's sales; the most traded products are leafy greens that come from China (around 95%) and only 2% comes from abroad. They operate in a very transparent way and you can check online for daily changes in wholesale prices. There is a very interesting project they are currently involved in: growing hydroponic vegetables (they don't need soil to grow). I've noticed this becoming quite popular, as the product not only run out of the shelves in the supermarkets, but many farms are implementing it now. One of the most amazing things I found about them is that they have an app whereby you can purchase organic and locally grown fruits and vegetables, only seasonal products. They update it every day for new products and carry limited stock, so I always check in the morning to see if there's something I'm interested in. The deliver next day, free of charge! And their prices are affordable, considering they are organically grown (24 HKD per catty of local organic cucumber). The visit gave us a great insight on how daily operations are like at a wholesale market, and especially about the VMO organization. Now I always look for their logo at the veggies section!

It was super crowded, but it was organized that there is only one way in, and one way out. There are a lot of different section that was set up, so I stopped by each station to pay respect and pray for my wishes. Staff were friendly and available to help when needed. This temple is not only for praying, but it is also a symbol of the traditional Chinese culture. I would say this is one of the must visit spot in Hong Kong.

I've crossed this bridge a ton of times in the last four days and I'm amazed by it. Commenced in…read more2004, it has only been opened to traffic since 2009, having been completed a few months before its opening. Not surprisingly, it was awarded a prize in 2010, called the Supreme Award. The design was picked by the Highways Department of Hong Kong through a competition but it was further developed by Arup, a British company. Its architecture is unique in Hong Kong and if it looks awesome from afar, it's even greater when you're driving on it, as you realize just how huge it is. There are three lanes in each direction and it's about 1,6 Km. long (second longest cable-suspended bridge in the world!). There are two main towers made of concrete and composite through which the cables run and this is the distinctive feature of the bridge. As with every other construction in Hong Kong, during the design, a lot of though was put into the winds impact on it and this issue took a lot of time in the planning of the bridge. It's become a landmark in Hong Kong, not only for its features but also because of its functionality, as it connects West Kowloon and Hong Kong International Airport. For me that was a great discovery, because I could not only arrive to the airport in a shorter time than I had planned, but also because it's great to drive along such a great piece of engineering.

Whenever I am on the Tuen Mun Highway, there is a scenic part I like very much. As the highway is…read morebuilt along the ocean, it is beautiful enough already; and the fact that since 1997 the Tsing Ma bridge has finally opened for public use, the view is even more spectacular. Normally I would only drive through it but last year I was at the Standard Chartered Marathon (and one more thing to add on my can't-do-list), I finally got to run, or maybe walk is more accurate, on it. It is said to be the 9th longest span suspension bridge in the world that links Tsing Yi and Ma Wan together. Thanks to this bridge, it is definitely an advantage for people who live in Tuen Mun to go to Hong Kong Island and the airport much faster. It was a nightmare back then without this and took ages to get there... I strongly recommend tourists not to take the airport railway (yes it is much faster but you are missing out), the bus route goes on this bridge where you can have unobstructed view of the ocean on the west side and skyscrapers on the east side; and during the evening, there are colour-changing lights that are bound to blow your mind. There are also visitor centres located on the Tsing Yi side that lists out the construction and the history of Tsing Ma bridge, however as I am not an architecture fanatic I guess I will pass. Anyways, it is really hard to take pictures here as it does not open to public unless it is marathon season. I suggest to do so when you are on the bus; if you are lucky, you might just get a nice shot of it. Now I still recall the night when it first opened for public, it had firework on both sides of the bridge. So memorable. That's the sight I will never forget.

Coming from the US, specifically Hawaii, government offices are not typically known to be very…read morehelpful or friendly. Surprisingly, this is definitely not the case at this Hong Kong government office. A friend had to move a dog from Hong Kong back to the US and needed proper paperwork. The person in front of us was also doing the same thing. The government worker was able to communicate clearly in English and in Cantonese and was extremely helpful and personable and getting the proper paperwork and documentation needed to process the application. It turned out we were missing one document and the veterinarian just needed to fax it over. We followed up in about an hour to make sure the fax was received and it was. Everything was fast and easy. I was really pleasantly surprised! I only complaint was the condition of the waiting sofas. They were pretty filthy. Otherwise there was hand sanitizer and even a bottled water cooler available for drinking water.
