Nha Trang is my Vietnamese restaurant of choice. With five convenient locations spread across HK, good food that never disappoints and at affordable prices too, what's not to love?
In my opinion, the best time to visit Nha Trang is in the late afternoon when they have their tea sets. Their sets are pretty worth it for the amount of food you get - for $54, you can either get the 'main course' and a drink or a side. Or if you want, save yourself the hassle of choosing and add $10 to get both! For main courses, you have the option of picking between dishes like the signature pho, cold vermicelli and rice with pork chop. For the sides, you can choose spring rolls, rice ravioli and salad, to name a few.
I always go with either the spring rolls or the salad rolls, and the pho with raw beef. The spring rolls are super crunchy, though a little oily. The salad rolls are a far healthier fare and go really well with the traditional sauce.
And the pho - so, so good. The soup is very well flavored and not too salty, the noodles are soft, and the beef is juicy and tender. The beef kind of soaks up the soup and it's incredible - often, I don't like the beef that comes with pho because it tastes kind of funny, but this one at Nha Trang is a different story! The beef is a little thick though, but is manageable. The portion is huge for an afternoon tea, but hey, I'm not complaining!
Word of advice - don't order the coffee. It's the traditional Vietnamese drip coffee they serve you, and I don't know if it's just Vietnamese coffee in general, but it's the strangest coffee I've ever tasted. It's thick, overly sweetened and has way too much condensed milk. My suggestion? Add $5 for the young coconut. I was there today, and virtually every table within my sight had at least one person with a young coconut!
Overall, this is a great place to come if you're craving pho, or just looking for a nice restaurant that won't break the bank. You'll leave full, satisfied and with the urge to come again! read more
