I would say it's a mixture of western, Hong Kong and Japanese. It is kind of a choose your own adventure place. Paper Stone and Arome are our primary places to buy our bread for our house. I would recommend the sourdough bread, and the curry bun. Their pastries are also a solid choice. They used to have grilled cheese station where they would cook sandwiches on the flattop. My rating is based on the following: Food: 4 stars Atmosphere: 3.5 stars Value: 5 stars for the lunch set The ice tea here is fantastic and will always order that with my lunch. It isn't too sweet and has hint of orange flavor to it. The salad on the other hand I would skip. The salad isn't dressed very well and the dressing is too sweet for my taste. The soup is a much better option. The bread that it is paired with is perfect for dipping in the soup. I haven't tried all the mains but the ones that I have tried are all quite good. The real standout is the truffle and mushroom pasta. I'm a huge black truffle fan and the flavor of the truffle really comes through. Given the price of the lunch set this is a really good deal. The hamburger is also good and so is the duck.

A cute, quaint little corner in the city plaza with lots of greens outside of the restaurant. I went on a sunday afternoon, seems to be a busy time where everyone is out for brunch. The wait is about 15 to 20 min for a table for 3. But you can grab your ticket at the automatic ticketing and leave your phone number with them, and head out to walk around the mail. They will give you an auto call to let you know your seats will be ready at 3 tables wait, which I found it pretty awesome and efficient, rather then just purely waiting and waste time. Food is great, had their mushroom soup and cucumber salad, chanterelle and spinach pizza and fish fillet with ink bun burger. Oh and their blueberry cheese cake and matcha cake. They are all great, minus the fries. Portion are generous, and the salad and soup are gourmet and not just slap on veggie or soup from cans. Mushroom soups are from mushroom puree and the cucumber salad are dressing with citrus dressing that are quite refreshing! I like their attention to detail on even just appetizers and drinks ( iced tea) , are well prepared. Must return for another meal soon!

It is located next to Taste supermarket. I came here looking for one item, wife cakes. Wife cakes (aka lou po beng) are a flaky wintermelon pastry. Wife cakes are the ideal baked good to bring back from Hong Kong because they are individually wrapped and their expiration date is a little longer than your usual baked good. I bought a couple of wife cakes (HK$8 each) as a sample to see whether I should bring some home as gifts. The wife cakes at Kee Wah are indeed very good. I like the sesame seeds on top and the pastry is soft and not too sweet. When eating them, make sure to peel off the paper wrapper underneath the pastry before devouring. In addition to wife cakes, they have your usual assortment of Chinese buns and breads. Kee Wah is also known for their mooncakes and they are also very tasty. But problematic to bring back to the US since the good ones contain egg yolk inside which is generally a no go. Though nothing wrong with picking some up in HK to enjoy them while you are there. The baked goods at Kee Wah are great. If you are a fan of wife cakes or mooncakes, I suggest you visit one of Kee Wah's shops around town to pick up some.

They use special French flour and sourdough to make their pastries, and you can really tell because their pastries are so crispy and flaky. We bought a few different pastries and their famous sourdough egg tart. Honestly, everything tasted amazing. The egg tart is different because the crust is made from crunchy croissant dough. The inside is a super smooth egg custard with a burnt, sweet top. They even have a few unique snacks that you can only buy at this specific location. They cost a little more than regular neighborhood bakeries in Hong Kong, but the high quality makes it totally worth the price. The shop is right outside the MTR station at Citygate Outlets. The desserts themselves are nice and colorful with good attention paid to small details in the construction of each pastry. Only two things really keeping this place from getting a fifth star from me. First is the price as there's plenty of great bakeries in Hong Kong that I feel are more competitive in value. Second is the inconsistency between items. Even between two mango pastries, I felt one was among the best I had but the other was extremely underwhelming (especially considering the price). I would still recommend Arome Bakery though for generally having delicious pastries, at a slightly premium price.

Arome bake + drink has some Hokkaido milk egg tarts for under $10 that are unlike your typical egg tarts in other local bakeries, and worthy of a Yelp. Everyone who's tried them can vouch for their superior quality. The milkiness is discernible even before you take a bite, with a slightly silkier and lighter-coloured filling. It is slightly less artificially sweet than the normal egg tarts, but more delicious, and went down well with my Oreo cookie milkshake, also from Arome. The giant plastic cup lasted me almost half a day before the cookie bits got all mushy and I thought I was just drinking melted chocolate icecream... (melted Magnum chocolate, though, if I were to specify the quality of chocolate...) The cakes here, too, sometimes use Hokkaido milk - like the Hokkaido milk cheesecake, which you can buy in little slices. I would avoid the little chicken pies next time, as their shortcrust pastry is a little too sweet for my liking. But this is standard of most other Hong Kong bakeries. What I did like about it was that the chunks of chicken were generous, so you do feel like you're getting your $8 worth of chicken interior. Still, I would've preferred a more savoury crust than that shortcrust. What's good about this shop is that they've got two cashiers, one for the quick shakes and nibbles, and the other for larger orders like cakes and breads. I didn't need to waste any time at all lining up, and went to my next class with the treats - the chicken pie still warm. Unfortunately, one student of mine denied this pastry pleasure as he said he didn't eat sweet snacks after breakfast and before lunch. I guess I know who I'm not inviting to my next brunch date...

Whatever my brother says, I believe him. After all he is the wiser one. There are just two favorites I usually get in Kee Wah. There are so many interesting pastries I like to get but the thought of packing them to head home to Atlanta in 9 days time is already giving me a headache.
