The restaurant is round in an inconspicuous corner of Yuen Long, this place is spread over several floors on an old building and at times it does feel quite claustrophobic. Be prepared to stamp up a couple of flights of stairs as the lift never arrives for some reason. Once inside you will notice that its old- I don't know when the last renovation was but it is clear that nothing has been done to it for a while. Perhaps that's some of its charm. On sitting down, you will be handed a menu with some daily specials. Unless you were feeling especially adventurous or you have particular in mind, you will notice that most people seem to order the same dishes here (outside of dim sum hours I mean). The five flavor chicken, the friend eggs with fish innards and the lard with rice are the staples at this restaurant. Most people will understand what the first two are, the first being a chicken marinated with a special sauce (nice), the second being just scrambled eggs with some goo-ey bits in(not for everyone). The last one is actually quite simple- it is lard (in an oil form that comes in a bottle), some soy sauce (you can put however much you like) mixed with plain rice. I don't need to tell you that its cardiac arrest inducing but my god, its so nice that I want one right now. Go try if you have time. You won't miss anything if you miss it as the choices aren't actually that many.

It simply succeeds in all categories from good service, excellent surroundings, a professional ethos throughout to tasty and well prepared food. The porcelain teapots carrying hot water are coloured differently from the porcelain teapots carrying Chinese tea which is a pleasant practical touch. The highlights of the food has to be their dessert including the Malaysian cake which is spongy and fragrant (but not too sweet), the custard dumpling which wraps warm custard in a translucent layer for a beautiful finish, the lightly fried mantou was suitably tasty and soft and the coconut red bean pudding is a melt-in-the-mouth, silky smooth and all-round delicious pudding - the best I have had of its kind for sure. The steamed taro cake however was admittedly overcooked and dry. The stir-fried singapore-style vegetable and beef noodles were excellently flavoured with the delicate combination of sweet chilli and pepper emmersed in the crunchy texture of vegetables alongside the soft noodles. The fact that when ordering roast duck soup noodles the meat is served on a separate plate from the bowl of noodles is a wise decision as this enables the meat to be provided with maximum taste and accompanying sauce without drowning it in soup. The attention to detail extends to differently shaped plates for the different types of dishes being served. The only little improvements I would make to this restaurant would be to install an escalator as currently a flight of stairs must be climbed in order to enter the dining area which may be troublesome for elderly folk and I would alter the eating bowls being used as they are a little too shallow, reducing your desired ability to gather more of the delicious food and soup into the bowl for your consumption. As a whole, 喜尚嘉喜 provides as good as it gets for having dim sum in Hong Kong; understated from the outside, but simply excelling in delivery of all traditional Chinese standards from the beginning to the end of the dining experience.

Mouth size bits of perfectly cooked lobster wok-fried with an egg white sauce placed on top of a crispy rice vermicelli cake Pork spare ribs with preserved olive and honey sauce -Nice marinated pork spare ribs that has been fried then tossed with the preserved olive and honey sauce which had a unique combination. House made tofu -In house made tofu that has been marinated and cooked with a medley of vegetables Crispy chicken -This was not your average crispy chicken that you normally get at the Chinese restaurant. Nicely marinated chicken that have been fried and not a lot of chicken fat still intact under the skin. Grouper claypot -Very good winter casserole dish. Chunks of fish that has been quick fried then cooked with spring onion and ginger. Then quickly simmered with tofu and bean curd stick. Egg yolk sponge cake -This was a nice way to end this meal. All the staff here are always so friendly and fun. Regular customers are like family to the staff. I visited again with my whole family for Saturday breakfast. The place is absolutely packed, so it is recommended to head there early or later to avoid rush hours. The dim sum was absolutely top-notch. My favorites are the fried rice rolls with peanut and sweet sauce, shrimp dumpling, and BBQ bun. I especially love the egg tarts there. Always fresh and super crispy and delicious. The congee was also very excellent; very fluffy and flavorful. Can't wait to come back for more dim sum when I visit Hong Kong again soon!
