Food: 2 stars Service: 4 stars Value: 3.5 stars Overall: 2.5 stars However, the food taste wise isn't all that great. I was expecting that it would be better or at least on par to some of the Chain restaurants like Min and Kok but it was quite a bit worse. Forget tasting anything close to what I have had in Indonesia.

Well, FY Noms already knows that this place is da bomb so I'm just hopping on the train. 5 badass stars for taste and value. Perhaps cleanliness and atmosphere don't deserve 5 but I was so damn impressed with the smiling service and mindblowingly delicious nasi goreng that I have to give a 5 here. All of the crispy fried shallots, delightfully plump and mmmoist shrimps, and flavourful fried rice in a pile with a (slightly overly) fried egg and some sliced cucumber, topped off with krupuk. The nasi soto ayam, a chicken soup with noodles, cabbage, wonton wrappers, hard boiled egg, and a spiced broth, served with rice and more krupuk, was also delicious. It didn't hit my spot as well as the nasi goreng, but it was still very tasty. Rivalling the nasi goreng in deliciousness and as a vehicle to deliver the soya and chili sauce to my mouth were the corn fritters (bakwan jagung goreng). Crispy, fluffy, and sweetly corny. My dining companion and I ate three dishes and shared a drink (not to mention the loads of chilis and chili pastes and sauces I consumed) and left stuffed. The total was about $70 each. Will be back. Maybe even today.

Upon seating, they give you a water bowl so you can wash your utensils and bowl. We ordered their well known panfried beef buns, 2 for $50, which comes piping hot and is bursting with sauce when you bite it, so beware. The steamed mutton dumplings were very tender and flavorful $60. Best dipped in vinegar, so ask for a small plate and vinegar should be on the table. Lastly we had a medium beef brisket & vermicelli $79. Soup was a clear broth, slightly salty. The beef was quite tender. Overall, the 30 min wait was worth it and you must order the beef cakes.

The dish that stands out the most, without question, is their beef pancake. Golden and crisp on the outside, it's filled with tender beef and rich, savory juices that spill out with each bite. It's hearty, flavorful and incredibly satisfying - the kind that makes you think about a long time after you have finished. We also enjoyed their curry lamb, lamb spring rolls and beef dumplings - they are all well-executed and full of flavor, making it easy to over-order and still want more. Don't forget to order their scallion pancakes so you can dip it in the curry.

The Chicken Tikka Masala was outstanding, and we also enjoyed the Butter Chicken, Palak Paneer (spinach with cheese), garlic naan, saffron rice, and chicken curry. The service was attentive and excellent throughout the meal. Our family mentioned they visit this location weekly, so it's clearly a favorite. With many locations across HK, Ebeneezers will definitely be on our list for a return visit!

If the answer is "a lot," then the food here might actually be worth a look. Their not so unique approach to pizza, Indian cuisine, and kebabs has garnered them enough notoriety amongst expats that they've managed to find themselves in multiple parts of Hong Kong. This location on Ashley is a relatively good one and offers seating, a clean space, and relatively good service. I wish I had better things to say about the food. Most of the Ebeneezer fame has been from kebabs, followed by Indian specialties, and pizza pies. Much of the food lacks quality ingredients I feel, which means most everything is just borderline passable; mediocre for the most part but works in a pinch. It's not all terrible though, I appreciate that they are upfront about their food and offer a speedy experience via online delivery. Service is solid for the most part, which is why I've given them the nod more often than not. It is by no means destination food, but if the cravings are there, then I say have at it. Don't expect much and all should be okay.

Roti they sell is an uncooked raw tiny chapati. This tiny thing cost HKG $20... the most expensive piece of roti I ever had. Backside where the sink was located looked like a trash dump. Wish I had seen this. I would have not eaten two spoons... Inside the restaurant there were few Chinese tourists probably curious to try local food from their old friendly neighbor. Brothers don't waste time and money in this restaurant. You will get disappointment. Even Uncle Center around the corner serves better food. Although that place is not clean either.

Yet still HK Style Cafes, McDonalds and other infamous street side eateries to maintain their stronghold for the hungry locals wandering during the wee hours. New Istanbul is a 24 hour spot, specializing in Mediterranean, Middle Eastern fare and certified Halal. It is mainly empty at this spot, for obvious reasons to anyone who dines here. The menu is massive for HK standards, perhaps even for Turkish / Halal places in general. Their meat platters from their rotating spits are definitely plentiful, typically served with rice, salads, and fries. Their chicken doner ($70) was just chunks of dry pieces that resembled shawarma. The Kofte ($88) was filling, but I've definitely had better in from other establishments and the same applies with the Mixed Doner ($98), which was just disappointing. I figured going with light bites such as Falafel ($58) and Spicy Hummus ($48) would resetore some faith in misaligned execution but I was wrong. Both were downright atrocious. There was a pool of oil drowning the hummus and the falafel was overfried, resembling a hockey puck. I was also surprised at the subpar pizza, also the pide and lahmacun. I still haven't found anything suitable on the menu yet. Perhaps their desserts? (i.e. sutlac?) They do take credit cards here and the mainly Nepalese staff is super friendly. Where the food fails, they shine. But that's the only reason I can muster 2 stars.

And at the time, they seemed to me like the most appetizing thing offered on the menu. I also had a canned beer to drink. The menu, btw, is on a huge banner-like tarp covering the wall, which was nice because it was convenient and also probably covered an area nobody wants to look at while eating. The seating area runs along one side of the place. It's apparently open 24 hours, or used to be; if I recall correctly, I was there around 4 in the morning. The woman behind the counter who took my order seemed friendly enough. I might've added on another .5 star for that. It's a tiny restaurant, and I did like the ambience of the place, so I'm rather torn between giving it 2 stars or 3. But the falafel were just too poor. When done at least adequately, they're delightfully crispy. These were nowhere near crispy, they were just fat little fingers of mush. Sad. The sauces in squeeze bottles, of which there are a variety that one can freely help themselves to, improved the falafel a bit, but only barely.
