*Vegetarian-friendly. CASH ONLY…read more I've been here twice and their shaved ice and sago are good enough to keep me coming. However, it's a bit on the pricey side, especially given the portion size. I paid 42HKD for a small plate of mango/lychee shaved ice. The portions in real life are definitely misleading from the pictures you see on the wall. They make is seem like a MOUNTAIN of beautiful shaved ice but what you really get is a hill and some toppings. I guess I don't mind since it means I'm saving on the extra fat I'd get from eating the mountain...? The shaved ice here is freshly made. However, unlike the pictures displayed on the wall, their shaved ice here does not always come with actual fresh fruits. I ordered a mango and kiwi shaved ice with REAL MANGO FRUIT and REAL KIWI SLICES as shown on the wall, but when I got my order, all it came with was a bunch of lychee jelly cubes and froyo bubbles. No fresh fruits. 'Twas a bit disappointing. The menu is completely in Chinese, so unless you can read Chinese, you'll most likely end up ordering your food by pointing to the pictures on the wall (like me) or by pointing at a random item on the menu and hoping you somehow ordered something good. The quality of the shaved ice here is good and the staff are really nice; however it's the deception of the serving size and actual dish for the price they charge that really gets me. Would recommend coming here *IF you are in Kennedy Town. Otherwise, I'd suggest spending your money elsewhere with better desserts and deals (SMILE Froyo and Honeymoon in Causeway Bay!)

I came here to buy chocolate covered strawberries - nothing. They don't offer them at this…read morelocation. So, I opted for chocolate truffles a la carte. They charge by grams depending on what you get. So for three truffles, i paid 86$ HKD . What they do have is boxes of chocolates ( averaging $175$hkd for a small box) Ice cream, hot chocolate, and chocolate cold shakes. They all looks super yummy but I decided not to indulge. Maybe nexttime... For sure the ice cream must be delish as there is always a line on the weekend for it!

Leave it to Hong Kong to make buying an ice cream cone a needlessly pretentious experience…read more After months of looking at the giant Godiva faux soft serve cone in the shop window - and the enticing promise of white chocolate - dark chocolate swirl ice cream, I succumbed to this HK$48 ripoff in a moment of weakness. I adore chocolate and hoped it would brighten my afternoon. I asked for the soft-serve to be served in a simple paper cup (on display on the counter for another product). I explained (nicely) that I was headed back to a desk and it would be extremely challenging to work while holding an ice cream cone in one hand. I was declined with a snooty "we only serve it in the cone". It *must* be served in a cone. This rigidness is frustrating for a customer and yet is extremely typical of many people that work in so-called service jobs here. Anyway, the ice cream cone itself was a complete disappointment on several fronts. -First, it was sickeningly, sharply sweet (my teeth started to ache from the sugary sweetness); -Second, the chocolate flavor was subpar (Haagen-Dazs or Serendipity's Frozen Hot Chocolate have superior, creamy and rich chocolate flavor); -Third, there was no "white chocolate" taste whatsoever in the white part of the swirl; -Fourth, the amount of ice cream in the cone was tiny (maybe serving it in a paper cup would make that abundantly clear); -Fifth, the cone they insisted on was just "meh" Disturbingly, at the McDonald's just upstairs, I could have purchased nine soft serve cones to share with colleagues for the price of this one extremely disappointing Godiva one...or bought one cone at HK$5 and donated the difference to Ronald McDonald House. Never again, Godiva.

Every time I come here, they upgrade their menu and technology. First time, the menu was on printed…read moreposters. Recently it was on big digital screens. Progress! The siu mai here is fantastic, but be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes. It's long but worth it. Though I've noticed the siu mai size has shrunk compared to two years ago. Doesn't stop me from coming back. Be sure to try the other items on their menu.

Hong Kong street food is renowned for being the best drunk munchies (and sober munchies, too…read moreactually) in the world. Sorry Dirty Dogs, you guys come in as a close second! The variety in HK street food is almost as wide as it'll make your hips, but 燒賣皇后 focuses on a delicious dumpling known as the SiuMai. For those of you who have shouted out to an azn girl and let the lights Dim Sum (teehee), you're probably familiar with a SiuMai. Essentially a meat dumpling covered in a thin yellow wrap, the SiuMai has been a trusty sidekick to morning tea for decades already. But 燒賣皇后 took it to another level and gastronomically transformed the SiuMai from Robin into the Dark Knight himself. Instead of using the traditional steaming technique, 燒賣皇后 roasts the 燒賣 over a flaming grill. And thus, the 燒-燒賣 is created. As it cooks, the mouth-watering aroma fills the streets and draws everyone except for the vegans in line (although the vegan can be seen drooling). Each skewer has several different 燒賣s. There is the classic Pork, the fan-fave Fish, the under appreciated Beef, and the vegan friendly Mushroom (the vegan can finally wipe the drool away). Before handing you this crispy skewer of deliciousness, 燒賣皇后 dunks it in a satay spicy sauce. Within seconds, you hold in your hand a dripping skewer of 燒賣 that's ripe for the picking. Make sure you bend in a little before ripping a 燒賣 off of the skewer. No one wants the hot sauce dripping on their new Jordans, Adidas Superstars, or whatever cool shoes that HK kids wear nowadays. This thing is pretty delicious. And for less than $20 HKD, this is the closest to a miracle we've seen since Kate Upton turned 18.

Wasn't too impressed by this "upstairs" cafe…read more My friends and I arrived at the cafe around 4:30 and we're told that we had to leave at 5:30. That's when tea time ends. I didn't try out any of the food so I couldn't comment on it. I just ordered an English Breakfast Tea. They charged $2 extra for milk. The service was really slow and I had to ask for the sugar. The decor and ambience was great though! I particularly liked the doodles on the walls and the sofas. Really stylish and comfy. The cafe was very quiet, so as most "upstairs" cafes. It's good for studying and meeting friends.

There were about 5-6 tables filled while I was there. All other customers were so considerate and held their voices low while chatting. Maybe that's the power of the atmosphere. They had a minimum charge of HKD120 in dinner time. So I ordered a Seafood Bento Box and a Special Drink. It does take a bit longer than expected for the dish but the taste was nice. So I will not complain. I still think this place is perfect for chilling out.
