The main restaurant that I dine at is called The Island View. It's basically a buffet that has a carving station, seafood, salad, noodle bar and dessert table. Island View offers special themed nights every month. I've been to Korean and Vietnamese themed nights. The Club Bar down stairs has its own special nights too. For Cinco de Mayo, they have a special menu with Mexican food. The gym is modestly sized. There are a lot of standard excercise machines but a few important ones are disappointingly missing. Last time I looked, there were no cable machines and no lat pull down. As a member, you are not even allowed to bring guests either (not for free, that is). Guests can use the gym but they need to pay. I think it's some thing absurd like 250HKD an hour.

He somehow knew I would enjoy a buffet, with so many kinds of dessert. Months later, I stopped by for a tea session with my friend, but I also had to do some work because I was technically on the clock at my job. While chatting with my friend, I was tasked with helping to draft a TEDx event opening speech. Despite being a bit stressed, at least I could do so in luxury. In this private club, you come across all sorts of people here, presumably all belonging to a certain social stratum. It was fun being in that same space, which also caused me to pause and ponder the different spaces I have navigated. That's a sociology report for later. As expected, the bathrooms are really nice, and the buffet options were awesome and included Western, Chinese, South Asian, and other cuisines. I loved the sushi bar. Moreover, you get this amazing view of Victoria Harbor that you don't normally get to see. If someone extends an invite to this place, don't question it too much.

The building itself is lovely, great Central location with an old school, established feel. I had dinner in the main dining room, which was well lit and cosy. I should've taken the member's advice and chosen from the Indian food menu, as the chefs are Indian. I ordered from the grill, giving the Australian petit mignon a try. The steak itself was cooked perfectly medium rare. The steamed veggies that came with it had no taste; it definitely needs seasoning. You have a choice for sauces and style of potatoes; I chose the fries and it was nothing to Yelp about. For dessert I had the American apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, which is an extra $20HK. It took 20 minutes to prepare and was a nice ending; however, nothing about it particularly stood out. Our table brought our own bottle of wine, but I'm unsure if there's a corkage fee. Service was friendly and professional, though it was very busy Friday night and occasionally things would be forgotten (we didn't get our bread basket until midway through our main course.) Overall, decent dining experience. If there's a next time, I'll go for the Indian food!

I had their English breakfast set (mid $50) which included juice, two overeasy eggs (you can get them any style), ham (you can choose between ham, sausage or bacon), roasted tomatoes, mushrooms, toast and coffee (you can choose between coffee or tea, both are bottomless). The eggs were a little bit undercooked, some of the egg white was still runny, the ham was a little bit dry, but the mushrooms and tomatoes were fine. They are very generous with the toast, giving you four pieces. The coffee was a solid cup of joe. The saving graces for the FCC are the atmosphere (relaxed and casual) and extensive menu. There are plenty of choices such as an American breakfast set, English breakfast set, Hong Kong breakfast set, pancakes, omletes, pancakes, pastries, cereal, oatmeal, congee, eggs benedict, corn beef hash, and much more. I thought it was all very reasonably priced too for a members only club.

The Lawn is usually reserved for wedding receptions/dinners and functions of that nature. The staff here are very professional and obviously experienced with celebrations of this nature. Food served at the wedding was an international buffet. In the Old Clubhouse, the food is also very good - roast chicken, suckling pig, laksa, Chinese noodles, chicken wings, fries, burgers, fish & chips, curries etc. Obviously, you have to be a member to buy anything here, but the club seems like a great place to take the kids.

For many years riders trained here and the centre itself is well recognized the world over for its professionalism in equestrian sports. The clubhouse itself is also a building that is steeped in history; much of which could be reviewed through the pictures hung around the bar in the main lodge. The food offered here is exemplary and the portions aim to impress. Aside from the food, there is a wide expanse of green land around the club house and again this is a rarity in this part of the world. Couples often come here to take their wedding photos and there is little wonder as to why. The swimming pool, tennis courts and play areas are well kept and facilities are being updated constantly. More importantly there are a number of chalets that could be rented as a retreat though vacancies are said to be tight.

However, if you have a membership, it is a great club to join. They have a decent café with Hong Kong-style western food. Their Chinese restaurant is amazing; some of the best foods I've had is from here. For example, their radish cakes and rice cakes for Lunar New Year (which they also sell in to-go boxes), or their banquet meals. They have a lawn fit for events, including weddings, and in addition, there is a pool, tennis courts, badminton courts, squash courts, table tennis rooms, a kid's ball pit... Basically all that you need for recreation. In a city like Hong Kong, any recreation is sorely needed. You can enroll in classes here to learn sports, dance or other things. I did a few of them myself and some of them have good coaches. But again, you need membership, or a friend with one. If you get invited to an event here, I'd be sure to check out the premises.

Tennis courts are my favorites. It's the view and the birds chirping and the ball hit echoing that are the most enjoyable. Food wise it is nice to have a spot that is not as crowded as it could be in the public malls. But the food quality is just an oh kay. In general the staff there are very nice and courteous. It's always pleasant to visit in the least.
