If you don't have a lot of time in Hong Kong and want to try as many local craft beers as possible,…read moreyou can't go wrong coming to HK Island Taphouse. Opened only this past December, It boasts itself as Hong Kong's biggest tap house with 40 taps: and all 40 pouring local brews, plus more selections in bottles. You can just sit there and sample around Hong Kong, from Lamma Island to Kowloon Bay. As many of HK's micro and nanobreweries are too small to have taproom, not to mention retail distribution, this place does the breweries and consumers a great service by bringing so many beers to one location.
The taproom is very spacious, and they have a large menu listing today's beer selection, along with a food menu featuring chicken wings and other snacks. Beers are offered in two sizes, 300ml and 400 ml, and if you can't pick just one, go for the flight, six for HK$160. The staff is happy to offer advice, such as what's limited release and likely to run out soon, as well as giving you a sample if you really are undecided.
This place is slightly off the tourist map, but just very slightly, on MTR it's at the Tin Hau station, which is one measly stop after the very popular Causeway Bay. Exit at A2, turn left, then turn right at the end of street, and then just a few minutes walk and you'll see the taphouse under the bridge on your right.
