There's a electronic ticket machine in the front where you get a waiting number (and optionally, you can leave a phone number and they will call you when it's time). I was about 7 spots behind was seated in about 10 minutes. Of course I couldn't pass on the ramen in Ippudo. On the menu I noticed they had half portion options for the Shiromaru and Akamaru options, so I opted to try one of each ($42 HKD Shiromaru 1/2, $45 HKD Akamaru 1/2), and it was a fantastic decision. The broths were definitely the highlight. The shiromaru had a lighter broth where you can really taste the pork flavors from the tonkotsu broth. The akamaru had some black garlic oil, as well as a more spicy kick that wasn't too overpowering but transformed the tonkotsu broth into a more vibrant, powerful flavor. And eating them right after the other was a perfect yin and yang combination. The chashu was flavorful and had a good amount of pork fat but they were very thin slices and not a whole lot of meat. The texture of the noodles was good: thin but springy. Combined with the green onions, bean sprouts, and kikurage, it was very delicious. Portions are a bit on the small size (especially the 1/2 size options) but well worth the price. Highly, highly recommended!

Service is attentive and efficient. They have a lot of different food to offer, it's not all about Ramen. You can also get some deep fried items, stone pot dishes as well as salads. After 3 p.m. you even get grilled skewers. Ramen you can get in all kinds of variations, different noodles, ingredients and broths. The Ramen is al Dente and the broths I tasted yummy. The deep fried items are crispy, juicy and not oily at all. The salads are fresh and the dressing not overpowering. Try the fried rice as well, it is really good. Overall I found this Ippudo worth returning to. And it's good value for money. You can easily pay less than HK$ 90 per head.

There's no reservation for this place. Their simple dipping ramen menu consists of three types. They only make about 100 bowls per serving hour so you may be out of luck if you arrive late. The décor is simple. Some wooden panels and the chairs are coke cartons zipped tied together giving it a very "shum shui po" feel. In all honesty, there are more dipping ramen places in Hong Kong to try. But if you happen to be in the area... or you happen to be in Shum Shui Po, this is a great place to nom.

Hidden gem in Sham Shui Po! My favorite tsukemen in Hong Kong!…read more Who knew you could find good Japanese food here? It's literally hidden in Dragon Center in the back corner down an alley way on the 7th floor. I've been here twice, and I loved it both times. How to tsukemen: For those who have never had tsukemen, this is a dip noodle. Basically, you take their homemade noodles and dip it into the broth for flavor and then you eat it. Simple right? It also keeps the noodles at a chewy consistency. When you're all done eating and dipping the noodles, they will pour stock into your broth to dilute it so you can drink it after. The broth itself is intense for noodle dipping, so you must dilute it to drink or else it's too much. How to order: You're given a piece of paper to order the food, and you select what type of tsukemen you would like. They only have three different flavor broths (white, black, red), so it's not a hard decision. White is original, black is garlic-y, and red is tomato-y. If you add more ingredients then they'll charge more. This place generally costs 100-150HKD, depending on what broth and add-ons you get. My favorite is the white because the black is too garlic-y but the red is a close second. I like to add another egg (your ramen comes with one already) because those things are halfway cooked, runny, and delicioussss. I also add menma, which is fermented bamboo shoots that go perfectly with ramen. Yummm. The ambience is alright. It's a small place so don't expect a lot. The interior is pretty cute despite the location as it reminds me of Japan. The chairs here are the worst since they're stacked crates with very little leg room. I sit off to the side to make up for that, but if you're tall, you've got some problems. The service is spot on! They're super nice and ask if you need help with ordering since tsukemen isn't really common. My waitress was lovely and came whenever I needed any help, which it was a lot because my friends kept asking for things. We all needed stock for our broth at different times, and she was still so patient with us. Loved her!

Located in Yau Ma Tei, this place was incredibly busy, but we only had to wait around 5 minutes before getting a shared table. The tables are quite small, so be prepared to get quite close to the person you may be sharing the table with! The go to thing here is ramen, and there are a whole bunch of flavours from curry to fish to the classic tonkotsu. The prices are pretty much all the same, around 80hkd. I got the classic one, and it was delicious, the soup was really rich and the noodles were cooked just right. However the meat was sliced really thin, so you really only get like 4 thin slices. However the flavour was definitely 10/10. Definitely a great place for ramen!

The menu has some great options, but as a frequent flyer of many years here, I went with the classic No.1 ramen. Highly recommend! I've never had broth like it -- it's always rich and delicious. Like you don't want to leave any in the bowl good. The pork chashu melted in my mouth, and the noodles had the perfect bite. FOOD Ajisen Ramen was really impressive in terms of flavor and texture. Broth was mighty tasty, not too strong, and served very hot. Using the huge spoon was fun for slurping down the broth! Egg yolk's texture was interesting and delicious too. BEVERAGE Cold Lemon Tea was a drink I grew to appreciate. As we stayed in Hong Kong longer, I noticed many establishments serve healthier beverages and this was one of them. After pressing the lemon with my spoon, the taste was just right. SERVICE Waiting time was very reasonable but I wish the servers would at least look more cheerful. I understand work can be tiring but smiles would help us all look and feel refreshing and light. I ordered a Noritama-Uma, and I was thoroughly impressed with what they gave me. They had a rich and flavourful broth and a very tender and juicy piece of pork, which is something I can't necessarily say about other ramen places that I've been to. Their noodles however were a tad soft considering how I asked for them to be extra firm, but otherwise it was very good overall. The soft boiled egg was fantastic, and still had a slightly runny yolk. The gyoza was very fragrant. The filling was tender, with just a tiny portion of the skin having a light crisp texture. The chicken karaage was also very good- the chicken was still succulent, but it still managed to have a light crispy outer layer. I'd rate my experience here positively. It's a little pricier than the places that I'm used to having ramen at, but they've got the food quality to match the higher price tag. This place is definitely worth another visit.
