Service was prompt and friendly. Came for lunch and had the Edomae Premium tempura rice bowl. It comes with Congee eel tempura (anago in Japanese), shrimp tempura; seafood fritter, soft boiled egg, snow peas and seaweed. All this is on top of steamed Japanese rice and drizzles with a seasoned soy sauce. As it comes in a set, white miso soup and Japanese pickles comes in the tray set up as well. The staff he explained that after you have eaten halfway through, you should puncture the soft boiled egg and mix it with the rice. Will definitely be back for more soon.

Genki Sushi is one of my favorite places to have sushi - it's definitely not the most traditional…read moreor authentic Japanese restaurant, but it's cheap, fast and delicious so that's good enough for me! Genki charges by the number of plates that you eat - basically, you get a dish at the conveyor belt and when you're done eating, you don't return the dish. Each dish is a different color, with each color representing a different price, and when you call for the bill the waiter will count the number of dishes you have on your table. I like this system because it stops people from wasting food. I'm not a huge eater, so typically I don't end up paying more than $60 or $70 which to me is a reasonable price. My favorite things to eat at Genki are their salmon sushi, the steamed egg, the salmon skin hand roll and the Genki maki. I especially love the Genki maki - it's basically sushi wrapped with salmon, and inside there's salmon skin. The crunchiness of the salmon skin goes really well with the salmon. I normally get two plates of this because it's so good! Sometimes I find that the salmon does not taste very fresh though. Genki is a pretty popular place so you will almost always have to get a number and wait in line if you're eating at typical lunch or dinner hours. Genki also has a loyalty program where if you spend enough accumulatively, you can become a member and get 10% off your meals - so that's basically no service charge. They even have an app to record your spendings, which you can download on your phone!

My favorite were the roasted sushi and scallops. They are lightly seared on the surface for a creamier, burnt texture. First difference is that they have set menus here that includes choice of a main, a side dish, and a drink. We decided to order these. For the first set, we ordered the pork cutlet prawn ramen with a side of mushrooms and asparagus on a hot plate. For the second set, we ordered the tender rib and BBQ pork ramen with a side of crab meat and cream potato cakes. Drinks were honey pear for both. We also ordered their 20th anniversary app special - scallops and mushrooms on hot plate. The mains were very good. Portions are large compared to what we get in Toronto. Ramen was cooked well. Soup base was just slightly more salty than I prefer but otherwise very good. Meat was tender. Prawns and crab cakes fried well. My main complaint is with the items that came on the hot plates (scallops, mushrooms, asparagus). The plates were so hot that a lot of things were burned by the time they were brought to the table. Overall, I would recommend this place as it's not that expensive for the portion size you are getting. And I would avoid items served on hot plates.

At first glance, the menu is quite limited compared to the other Genkis in the world (thus the minus a star), but what they do serve is quality. The fish is so fresh and the cuts are larger. The menu is different and so is the pricing, but this Genki was a nice and refreshing break from all of the Dim Sum and Chinese cuisine here, lol! As the sushi usually comes out on the different colored individual plates, at this location when you order it, it comes out on a large platter... it looks nicer, but is a bit harder to share? We ordered a bunch of sushi and Fried chicken. The sushi was good, but I'd have to say the fried chicken was especially great... probably the best I'd ever have and I'm not kidding! It was light and juicy, cooked to perfection without any dark or chewy pieces (from being over cooked). I could've eaten chicken in lieu of the sushi and would've been super happy! All in all, everything was good. If you're in HK and need a break from Dim Sum, eat here!

Fresh sushi delivered by bullet train? Sign me up because I am all aboard…read more I've been to Genki Sushi twice now (CWB and Shatin locations) and have had the opportunity to try their dinner and tea set menus. Although largely the same, I would say it's a better value to go during tea time (2:30pm-5:30pm) because you can get the incredible $50 set of aburi sushi with two sides. I opted for 1D, which comes with the sushi set of Seared Scallop with Garlic Butter, Seared Black Pepper Boiled Shrimp, Seared Black Pepper Salmon, Jumbo Crab Stick, and Egg; a side dish of Deep-Fried Chicken (they ran out of Deep-Fried Fish Ball with Cheese); and Steamed Egg Custard with Seafood. The sushi set was stunning and tasted as delectable as it looked. The thick cuts of seafood were buttery and fresh, with their flavour ever so enhanced by their sear and light dabs of black pepper / garlic butter. The sushi rice was also the perfect amount and cooked to the right texture. I would say my favourite piece was either the Boiled Shrimp or the Salmon. For the two sides, I definitely preferred the Fried Chicken over the Egg Custard; it was lightly fried and incredibly moist inside. While the Egg Custard did have its seafood, it was quite bland and one-dimensional. Being someone that likes her variety, I also ordered the popular Soft Shell Crab Hand Roll ($22) and the Deep-Fried Oysters ($35). Yes, it was one of those let's-deep-fry-everything days for me. Between the two, the Hand Roll is the lighter and likely healthier option, but they both tasted great in my books. In short, Genki Sushi redefines conveyer belt (kaiten) sushi into a deliciously fun and fresh experience. Even ordering was an experience all in itself as you simply order by QR Code through your phone. My friends and I truly had a fantastic time not only savouring our food, but also attempting to film our food's grand arrival. It was such a treat!

He even recommended their most famous signature bowl, so of course, we had to try it! The Sashimi Don (Kaisendon) was incredibly fresh and absolutely addictive! The presentation was beautiful, with so many vibrant colors and a generous variety of sashimi. Even the sushi rice was perfectly soft and nicely seasoned, which made every bite even better.
