Snow Crab Sushi - They place a nicely-sized crab leg section atop the rice with most of the shell removed. Only a pre-cut knuckle shell section remains, but is easily opened to reveal the rest of tasty crab flesh. Salt Scallop (Shio Nigiri) - Firstly, the scallops here are humongous, easily 2X what is typically found in the US. Secondly, who knew that sea salt flakes could complement nigiri so well? The citrus burst of the lemon plus salt and a generous portion of scallop makes for a perfect bite of food. Roasted Norway Salmon / Roasted Scallops / Roasted Fattest Tuna (Aburimono) - These were my absolute favorites and each featured a slight char to both the protein and the rice (blow-torched?). The resulting flavor was a delicious grilled flavor combined with the buttery texture of the fish. Just like Japan, you'll input your orders and the sushi will come flying down the tracks. The difference here is that you'll need to use your smart phone to place the orders; they have free WiFi for you to connect to (1.5 hours). The table has all the things that you'll need for your meal: chopsticks, soy sauce, wasabi, ginger, powered tea, hot water. Once you're done with your meal, take your clipboard to the front and make your payment. What was ordered: - Rolls - Nigiri - Dessert Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. Genki charges by the number of plates that you eat - basically, you get a dish at the conveyor belt and when you're done eating, you don't return the dish. Each dish is a different color, with each color representing a different price, and when you call for the bill the waiter will count the number of dishes you have on your table. I like this system because it stops people from wasting food. I'm not a huge eater, so typically I don't end up paying more than $60 or $70 which to me is a reasonable price. My favorite things to eat at Genki are their salmon sushi, the steamed egg, the salmon skin hand roll and the Genki maki. I especially love the Genki maki - it's basically sushi wrapped with salmon, and inside there's salmon skin. The crunchiness of the salmon skin goes really well with the salmon. I normally get two plates of this because it's so good! Sometimes I find that the salmon does not taste very fresh though. Genki is a pretty popular place so you will almost always have to get a number and wait in line if you're eating at typical lunch or dinner hours. Genki also has a loyalty program where if you spend enough accumulatively, you can become a member and get 10% off your meals - so that's basically no service charge. They even have an app to record your spendings, which you can download on your phone!
