I did not have the Octopus card and not really sure how to pay (as my ticket was collected after exiting the MTR). I went on the Light Rail anyway as it is a honor system and I can explain to the inspector should they ask. The Light Rail itself was efficient and frequent. The A/C worked well in the hot humid Hong Kong summer. It made frequent stops along the main thoroughfare in Yuen Long. Absolutely no complaint and enjoyed the ride - and benefited from its convenience!

Bathrooms are clean, which is always appreciated, and the signage is clear and straightforward, especially when it comes to directions for entering China via the pedestrian bridge. For travelers visiting Hong Kong who want to do a day trip to China, or those coming from China and planning a quick day trip to Hong Kong, this station makes the process very convenient and stress free. Overall, it's a practical and efficient transit point for cross border travel. Please note that we are going to Futian hence we pick this stop.

Fun fact that the name means "dismount island" ;)…read more Its very ideal if you're heading into Futian (i.e. Coco Park a.k.a the Lan Kwai Fong of Shenzhen), or Hi-Tech park or Nanshan as you skip a few stops in the Shenzhen metro. Also if you're entering Hong Kong from this port of entry, don't forget to scan your MTR Octopus card at the MTR faresaver.

But I'll be happy to accept the FTR for this MTR station! Lo Wu isn't my favorite station but it is when it involves going shopping in Shenzhen! My husband and I have now been here a couple of times via MTR and city bus. And while it's much quicker to get on the city bus for us, I still prefer just riding the rail up to Lo Wo. You may not always get a seat but standing can still beats sitting in traffic and not going anywhere...I haven't had an issue yet. Don't mind all the men and women with suitcases...they aren't going to the airport....They are SERIOUS SHOPPERS!!! So, wave that Octopus card like you just don't care and board this MTR you will either be engaged in your phone so much that the time will fly by or you can gaze out the window and see what the other side starts to look like. If you have perfected that Asian nap, well then go for it! Once you jump on...you can not get lost. AND if you do...follow the ones with suitcases. Pay attention to what line you are going to after deboarding from the MTR.
