You pay for the experience of all these great customer service points (price was $360HKD, just feet, short a little tip....50 minutes), but if you are looking for just feet and not the "experience of tranquility," I am certain you could find it less expensive elsewhere. Wrapped up in the cost is an unspoken level of experience. Let it also be said that this is my first foot massage in Hong Kong and thus my bar of expectation has been raised. I have had countless reflexology treatments in the US, but it is just not the same to the real deal you can get in Hong Kong. My husband says that compared to this, I will be dissappointed with the esthetic, feeling and atmosphere of other massage spots in Hong Kong, but maybe not disspointed with the actual service. We did not have an appointment and had to wait for about ten minutes for both my husband and I to be taken on a Sunday afternoon. We were in a communal room with eight other chairs, although they do have private rooms for parties or just solo stuff I suppose. Rooms and chairs are tastefully decorated...wood, tile, cream colors, dim light, clean. They were completely full and room was busy, but still respectfully quite, tranquil and relaxing. After a short neck and upper back massage that is simply part of the routine to their foot massage experience, I found my esthetician to be brutal and beautiful. I suppose I prefer a foot massage that really digs in there and works things out versus fluffy rubbing. I am certain she would have taylored it back in the pressure had I asked, but it was great. She had good kneeding thumbs and fingers to really work on my feet and calves. She was good at her craft...it was clearly not her first rodeo! They have healthy drinks you can purchase and also have pedicure options. Another thing I noticed...everyone is in the company uniform, so you notice the corporate culture touch through the uniformity of look. I really enjoyed my experience at Ten Feet Tall and look forward to returning. You feel so good upon leaving, the question on tipping becomes a question in my American head (we tip the US...we just do...it is a custom...)...it was such a good experience, I just want to give them a tip. This was the only question and topic of debate in my head upon departure.

This place is the real deal and for $540 for 90 minutes, it is a steal when compared to the US prices. But that is just half of the story. Ah Ping was my therapist. She is a special lady with a real talent in figuring out where it hurts and where she needed to focus. She literally has magical hands. Deep tissue is on tap for the day and oh boy, she is incredible. The icing on the cake is she is genuinely nice and caring. She doesn't speak English and prefers not to cater to non Chinese speakers. But, if you can convince her to give you her magical treatments, you will be glad to fork over your fee plus a healthy tip.

As it was the first time I had ever 'floated', I was given a quick run down of the place: - You take your shoes off as you enter the living room - They have 4 pod rooms - Each pod room has its own shower - Take a good shower before you get into the pod (put on your earplugs first) - Turn down/off the room lights according to your preference - Get into the pod - There's a floating noodle which you can use if you need additional neck or back support - Lighting for the pods can be controlled from within the pod - Music plays for the first 5 minutes - Music plays in the last 5 minutes to let you know the session is ending - Take a good shower to wash off the salt water - Relax in the living room It's not surprising that everyone has a different first experience and it probably depends a lot on how you are feeling physically & mentally that day. As I was utterly exhausted and looking forward to being shut out from the world, I immediately took to the pod like a tree in a forest. I played around with arm & leg positioning initially but fell asleep for probably 20 minutes towards the end. When I got out I felt amazingly refreshed. The second time I came here was on a weekend. I had just done two workouts and felt a little hyper. I got bored about 45 minutes into it and got out of the pod early. So I'm probably going to stick to coming here when I need a good nap or break from the world or if I am jet-lagged. It's clear they've invested to make the place cozy. In case you're wondering, the rooms are really clean and after each session the water is run through a filter. So I reckon it's definitely cleaner than swimming in a pool or hot-tubbing at a spa. We were both always curious about floating and what a great place to begin this journey. The space was very calming and relaxing, and much larger than many wellness facilities in Hong Kong. Each room had a shower and a pod for privacy.. I fell asleep a few times while floating and both my BF and I felt relaxed, re-energized and hungry after the experience. I am claustrophobic in small spaces so I really liked having the option to have the pod open or closed. I was relaxed and comfortable enough to eventually close the pod and turn off the lights for the full experience:) Wellness comes in so many forms but I must say this was a such a positive experience..i was able to step away from the bustling Hong Kong environment to have a mini self focused escape to recharge. I randomly saw the place while walking up Lan Kwai Fong Street and took one of their leaflets outside their building. As I flicked through, my face turned into a 'no way!' expression...50 HKD for eyebrow threading? 230 HKD for a Brazilian wax? I called them and made an appointment two days later. Don't get put off by the building; yes, it seems like it's falling apart but the place itself is welcoming and very clean. I got there just in time and was welcomed with some water before the therapist led me to one of their (three) rooms. I wanted to get my eyebrows done but my expectations weren't high. However, I asked her for advice on how to reshape them. She took her time and made a couple of observations, which made me feel more comfortable, then just got onto it and in a matter of 10 minutes I was out. My thoughts: very professional, quick and well performed. This is what you get anywhere else in Hong Kong, but for 120 HKD and not much advice. As I came out of the room I saw two people getting a manicure and it looked so good, I made the next appointment! Just be warned of two things: it's cash only and there is no lift to the 3rd floor.

The treatment rooms are divided by thin plastic walls so you can hear every word being said within the tiny space and other spa goers can hear every wax strip being torn off which can be a little off putting. However, the service is professional and the price is SO CHEAP that you can ignore the basic fit out. It's literally only $230 for a Brazilian wax - half the price of places like Nude and Nu and the results are as good. Hot Stone Massages are only $300 whilst a spa manicure is $130. I bring my own colours for manicures but the range of options is reasonable. The cash only policy is a little annoying but understandable for such a small operation. All in all, Lovely Spa is not the best choice for a luxury, indulgent experience, but for basic grooming at a price you can't beat, this is the place.

Massage: the woman massaging me had stronger hands than any masseuse or masseur I've ever met (and I've had a lot of massages!). He spoke with Jackie and she made wonderful suggestions based on our needs. Yuen is located just a few blocks from our hotel, so look for the sign, take the elevator to the 15th floor. You will be warmly greeted in absolutely euphoric atmosphere and very clean. You would have never guessed such a glorious place existed in an office like building. Slippers are provided. After waiting just a few minutes we were whisked to a room with 2 beds for my step-daughter and me. Masseuses were phenomenal, complete quiet relaxation. Post massage, warm tea and a gelatin like dessert was served - very tasty. Husband also decided to get a 50 minute foot massage while we got massages and scrub and all 3 of use received treatments for ~$110 USD. Jackie who helped us was an excellent and gracious hostess, everything was professional and yes.....worth every single penny. This experience is definitely worth a visit when in this neighborhood or a tourist looking for a massage after long travel!
