I have heard you can spend 8 hours here easily; I don't know how true that is lol. You can certainly find a lot of Western brands here, and many popular Asian brands as well. The food scene also attracts me here. When you arrive at MTR Kwai Fong Station, there is a footbridge already conveniently connecting you to Metroplaza. First thing you see would be the ginormous MUJI. Omg, it is like heaven in that store! It has beautiful interior designs, and an impressively large food section :D The pricing at this shopping centre is considered middle ranged; you can certainly find deals here when you look into it. I really enjoy shopping for shoes at these stores: Dr. Kong, Oriental Traffic, Staccato - I love their style, comfort level, and they often have my petite size in stock. Random tip: Female washrooms are usually packed on the lower floors... just head up a few floors and you will find it less congested.

My workplace is currently in this building and I have to admit that this is a pretty cool building…read more I'm in one of the office towers and since there isn't anything quite as high as this place in Kwai Fong, you end up getting some pretty good views, as a teacher, my students seem to enjoy the view too. It seems however that they didn't really think the windows through properly, considering how my windows appear to undergo a compression and expansion cycle during the day, where I start hearing these loud snapping noises. On the bright side, the office tower elevators are really speedy and they do split their elevators up by floors served. The mall below is quite large with some dining options. While there are much cheaper places to eat outside the mall, their offerings generally aren't too bad. There's also a lot of retail outlets for footwear and clothing, and really good connections to transit and other malls, so it's a pleasant building to be in overall. There's even a park with a running track just opposite the building. The management of this building definitely puts a lot of work in this building. While this place is a few decades old by now, it still looks and feels really new on the inside and it really isn't showing its age at all. I guess that's what happens when you consider interior designs thoughtfully and also renovate every so often. It am however annoyed by the absence of recycling facilities in both the mall and the office towers. Considering how Hong Kong has a landfill problem, and this place is smack-dab in the middle of a Residential and Industrial area (which probably actually does some of the recycling), It's puzzling as to why they don't recycle. A small, compact, cute, four leveled shopping plaza with a entire floor of food options is what we discovered. It seems funky, fun, festive and kind of new. Other than maybe the Croc store, most stores seemed like local, small, entrepreneurial places selling handmade crafty things like jewelry and gift items to figurines that have your likeness having been made by a 3D printer on sight. Many stores selling clothing too. There is also Greenlive, which is an indoor electronic golf range and golf course. The 4th floor is entirely a home store called Home 21, selling everything from couches to mirrors to place settings. Kind of feels like Pier One has met a furniture store, if you are familiar with Pier One in the US. If you find yourself in Lai Chi Kok, absolutley stop by D2 Place to buzz around, buy something and maybe take in a meal or coffee (or even ice cream...they have an ice cream shop inside!). Lai Chi Kok is a quiet suburb outside the hype of places closer to Central, but D2 Place seems like a cool, hip place to get the fun feel of shopping and exploring you find in the main cultural hubs around Hong Kong.

Because of such cravings for raw fish I can say, with some confidence, that I know some of the best, and worst, sushi places around town. Monster Sushi lies somewhere above the middle. Monster Sushi, in Langham Place, is set up like most sushi joints, a little bit fancier than Sushi One or Genki. There are booths, revolving sushi, and tables for small groups. Quite big you'd assume, and you'd assume correct. Then why is it fuller than an egg every time I visit? A guaranteed wait of about twenty minutes during dinner time is required EVERY day of the week, the silver lining being that it must be doing something right. Inside the sushi itself is pretty good. Looking through the menu I saw a couple 'Monster" signs next to specific pieces. Do not mistake these signs for radioactive Godzilla sushis, although they very well could be. No they are just sushi, except the fish/meat is twice the size - hence the name Monster Sushi. On most occasions I go for the some old dishes. A couple monster eels, a couple monster salmons, some prawn tempura and a california roll or something. I still have my hair, and it's growing in the right places so I've safely ruled out radioactive Godzilla sushi. The food is served relatively fast and finished relatively faster. The quality is, like I mentioned, above average but it's just the wait that gets to me. On a night that I'm craving sushi I'd rather go to a place that offers worse food but with the certainty I can simple show up and get served.

I haven't been there for a long time as the shopping mall became old and unattractive. Recently I went there again and was pleasantly surprised how much it improved. It underwent extensive renovation and they added a lot of new shops and good restaurants. All necessities are covered, all the banks are there, they have a cinema, a lot of electronics shops and a very good supermarket. In general everything here is inexpensive or medium prices.

The third floor of the complex is basically an indoor night market (but opened during the day time). There are so many food stalls, with more variety than I could imagine. They have Taiwanese sausages, Japanese takoyaki, local HK delicacies, and more. Aside from food stalls, they also have actual sit-down restaurants, too. I was not that hungry when I came, so I couldn't indulge in as many foods as I wanted to. If I had more stomach space, I would have definitely fit in some of the many bevs on offer and maybe even ice cream. But they don't only have food. They also sell random products that you could typically find in residential HK malls like clothes, accessories, cute merch, etc. I found some really adorable Sanrio red envelopes here! This place is kind of like a maze and it's easy to get lost in. My sister and I separated here and we ended up going home without the other because that was easier than trying to find each other again. The third floor has some benches circling the escalators area, but they're usually all taken. I was really tired from walking, and I would've stayed longer if I was able to sit and rest for a small break. The one star off is for the lack of sitting areas, confusing layout, and honestly could use a facelift. I would come back again to do a proper food crawl, but I'll probably bring my portable chair.
