Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We ordered two dishes that were recommended at the front of the menu; 鮮辣香茅蝦 Spicy Lemongrass Shrimp Starter - Texture as hard as wood but if you just eat the shrimp it tastes alright 泰式生蝦刺身 - Thai style Raw Shrimp (Goong Che Nam Pa) - Super spicy awesome shrimp shooter For our main meal; Grilled Pork Neck Meat - Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Thai Green Curry Chicken - Full of flavor and creamy. Mango Sticky Rice - Not too sweet, just perfect in every single way. (but old photos shows their portions got smaller)

We made reservations so we got a prime seat by the window with a view and our waiter was more than helpful with everything. The unique thing about this resturant is that you can pick your seafood before they prepare it the way you want. Everything is fresh and very large! The one shrimp and oysters we got were the size of flip flops. Everything was very tasty and I am in love with the curry crab. After you eat the crab, order some hot roti and clean the plate. It's amazing!

I have a thing for Thai food, oh, and for tiny food-smelly restaurants, hidden away from main…read morestreets, so I was delighted to discover what I know call my 'little Thai'. A friend of mine first introduced it to me. She'd been having her take aways there for dinner and suggested we try one day. Since then I have been a regular to this place. In fact it is conveniently located for me, at a corner just at the end of Amoy Street as you come from Hennessy Road. It doesn't look very exciting from outside and even a little run down, but that's part of its charm. The place is run by four lovely Thai ladies whose kitchen is open to the (rather small) dinning space. The dishes come quite quickly but don't expect them to rush to take your order. The atmosphere is laid back. There are around 6 tables that accommodate for twenty people maximum. Now, the thing I go there for is the food...or should I say the curries and the Tom Yum Soup. If you go for curries, I would suggest you try their pork red or chicken green from the dinner menu. They come in big bowls with plenty of meat and vegetables but no rice (I don't eat rice). I assure you it makes for a big meal and it's just delicious. The curries are mild but you can ask them to make them spicier if you like. I would also recommend you go there at the end of the day because I have noticed their sauces taste better then (they might cook them in the morning and let the sauces soak in the flavor of the spices...). Their prices are very reasonable (around 50-60 per curry dish) and they don't have service charge. It's never very crowded, as opposed to the rest of the places on that same street. Their opening times vary, but they close early in the evening. My little Thai is definitely not a place for a fancy dinner or where I would take a date on the first day but more of a local dinning place with tons of charm and it's great value for money. I have only had a better Thai curry and that was recently, at Thai Basil in Pacific Place. I feel like I should write a review about this place too.

Portion is on the big side and the taste is outstanding :) i got the tomyum noodles bowl and it was the best I had in HK if not better than some in Thailand The ladies are super nice and sweet. The food might take a bit to come out depending on the number of orders they have before you. But totally worth the minor wait! Highly recommend

When asked for a great Thai restaurant for dinner, our hotel concierge quickly recommended Mak Mak…read moreand snagged us a reservation for a Saturday dinner for two. The restaurant is hidden back in the corner of a maze like area known as Landmark near the Central MTR station. Once we reached the Landmark, we just stopped at an information desk to receive final directions. We arrived early for our reservation which originally was made for seats at the bar but at this earlier time they had a table free for us. The bar sitting is not like typical high top seating but rather a long table attached to a wall at normal table height. You and your guests will just be sitting beside one another rather than across a table and perhaps sitting next to a stranger. The staff there were super friendly and spoke very good English which helped us tremendously. After a warm welcome, we were quickly shown to our table and offered water to start. We saw all our favorite Thai dishes on the menu just like back home in the States. We started with fried spring rolls and a couple Tsingtao beers to take the edge off a long day of walking around Hong Kong. The spring rolls were on the skinny side but with seven of them on the plate and a lovely chili dipping sauce on the side they hit the spot. Served with the rolls were some fresh vegetables that we can never seem to get enough of when traveling far from home. For our next course, we went with Tom Yum soup another favorite of ours. I was a little hesitant at first to order it as it was priced at $20 USD which seemed high to me for a bowl of soup but it turns out to be a big bowl that is easily shared between two. It is served on a stand with a candle below to keep it warm and two smaller bowls with a ladle to serve it up. Our server poured our first bowls and ensured we each got one of the two huge shrimp (head and eyeballs included) along with plenty of our goodies. The soup was wonderful with a multitude of flavors. Easily the best Tom Yum we have ever experienced. It was quite spicy more so then we are used to having but still very enjoyable. For our last course, we selected Pad See Ew with pork and were pleasantly surprised to find more pork than noodles in the dish. This dish also can be shared for two if desired. Everything tasted very fresh with a wonderful sauce and at the perfect temperature. We passed on any dessert at this point but not for lack of options but rather room to put it. Overall, my wife and I enjoyed a wonderful meal here at Mak Mak with friendly and helpful service at a very reasonable price. We hope to have an opportunity to come back and try some other dishes.

The very first Thai AYCE brunch I've ever been to!…read more I appreciate that it's AYCE and not buffet style, there's a standard menu you can order dishes from. The food is not made in bulk and you can decide on the spice level of your food. Their larb is delicious, but spicy, so you'll want this option to decide on the spice level. Great selection of food from appetizers, soup, mains and the best part it includes dessert! Service is both friendly and quick. The brunch itself is affordable (esp. for AYCE) and you can opt for a smaller portion so you can try different things and not waste food. Totally worth a try if you're in the mood for Thai food and want a good variety.
