ÖoB, short for Överskottsbolaget, is a Swedish discount store with a pretty interesting history. In the 1960s it was started when the Swedish army started selling surplus items to the general public - that was what gave the name as well (överskott is Swedish for surplus). In the early 90s the stores were privatized and sold to Runsvengruppen. They have since expanded the business and number of stores so these days there are more than 100 nationwide..
The focus is on non-perishable food and drink, health & beauty products, household goods, DIY products, tools, garden equipment and also miscellaneous stuff they are able to buy cheap.
As with most of these stores the one in Kista lacks charm and it not the place to visit for an enjoyable shopping experience but it can be a good place to buy things like cleanings supplies at substantially lower prices than the regular supermarkets. I am not a frequent visitor but occasionally visit and the store as such is fine. Usually it is a bit chaotic and service can be slow but the prices are competitive. read more
