[Review #448] 2019 Yelp 100 Challenge (100/100) What a great way to end the 2019 challenge with a review during my Scandinavia travels... Åhléns is one of my favorite shops in Ängelholm... similar to Target in the States in terms of set-up & layout but smaller in size with department store clothing pricing that's similar to Nordstrom or Macy's. Their "REA" (SALE) sections are separated by department with a bright red tag so it's easy to find great deals in the various clothing, beauty, household, etc. departments. =) Their clothing lines are current, well-made, & of durable quality. I've bought plenty of children's clothes over the years & they're still in one piece, retaining its original colors. =) On this recent trip, I scored 2 super cute girl's jackets for just over $3 (Åhléns) & $12 (Name It). What!?! As a tourist, I like this department store for Swedish souvenirs such as Pippi Långstrump (Pippi Longstocking) clothing & knickknacks as well as Bamse, a highly popular cartoon. Their toy section seems to be stocked with a lot of common labels that I could find in the States like Shopkins, Minecraft, Peppa Pig, LEGO, etc. but at higher prices. The beauty section is stocked with familiar brands as well as their local ones. Whenever I forget to bring over, I often come here for moisturizer, sunscreen, body lotion, shampoo & conditioner. The local products are made with less chemicals, typical of European standards. Unlike home, you will not find sales people in every department or any section for that matter should you need assistance or have questions; if they were around, I haven't notice. :-| When paying for your purchase, you do not wait in line for the cashiers to ring up your purchase; instead, you pull a number & wait to be called. On the plus side, if you're shopping with a friend & nearly done, your companion can pull a number for you to limit the wait time. However, if it's not timed correctly, you'll be skipped which defeats the purpose of pulling a # in advance. I also don't care for the paper waste or this supposed efficient system... just wait in line for your turn -- simple & efficient. Whatever your needs are, Åhléns is a quality store that has just about anything you desire. It's a definite must stop whenever I'm in Ängelholm. Tip: Check for their REA signs throughout the store; I almost always find a good deal. read more
