The food was bland and lacked any real flavor - nothing stood out. Service was the bigger issue: it took our server 10 minutes and two separate requests just to bring out a Sprite, and we had to ask multiple times for other drinks throughout the meal. She seemed more interested in chatting with two coworkers than attending to our table. Cool space, but the food and service need real work.

We found this piano bar in the Juarez neighborhood set on the 2nd floor of a cute bookstore. We heard that we had to order food to get a drink so we got an order of guacamole to share. The sangria was light and refreshing with slices of apple, pear and cantaloupe. The piano player was playing popular broadway and musical tunes and the atmosphere was great! Loved finding this bar on a whim.

This place is fantastic and we cannot wait to go back- probably next weekend!…read more Speak easy- go thru the small diner to the back hall into the lounge, which is surprisingly very big. (a host will most likely seat you) Pretty sure you need a reservation- we got lucky with some friends who set us up with one; the place was packed and the music was incredible. The craft cocktails menu is really big and diverse- I tried the Acid Butterfly with cold brew and tequila and it was absolutely delicious. We heard the Katsu chicken sandwich is delicious but we missed out because they ran out, so it must be. But the chicken burger I had was really flavorful and filling. The fries are tasty with a Cajun type seasoning. The spicy sauced edamame was a great starter. The ribs were decent (big portion) but more sweet than we prefer, could use some kick. The service was outstanding, despite how packed it was and how loud with the band on stage and even with the usual language barrier. This is such a great spot!

The space is small but the way your seated only makes it that much more intimate. The gentleman at the door who came out to help us translate was originally from Downtown LA. So that was pretty cool being that I too am from LA. The theme of the night as far as music was all soul and the singer did a killer James Brown impersonation. The pesto pasta was rich and better than most I had in Italy. The more classically Mexican dishes were some of the best we had in Mexico. They also make their own beer which was a nice touch (and a good beer). The wooden decor is beautiful (it's an old wood grainery renovated into a fancy restaurant and the terrace overlooks a beautiful courtyard with a historic working water well). For some reason we were the only people here. Come try it! You will not be disappointed!
