There were 4 mistakes from this restaurant when I ate dinner tonight. First, they totally forgot our order. After waiting for more than 40 minutes after our order, a waiter came and told us they forgot sending the order to the kitchen. He said they were working on it. This was fine with us since nobody is perfect. We can wait for a few more minutes. Ten minutes later, they sent a 16 piece sashimi dish to us when we ordered 24 pieces. They had to redo. A few minutes later, all of our dishes were on our table. The waiter briefly introduced each of them to us. My son found that he got only 7 pieces maki when it should be 8 in one of his orders. Then I found one of my dish (the crispy salmon gunkan) was missing totally. So many mistakes in one dinner and I had no idea how they managed the restaurant. At first, they seemed being very sorry. But when more mistakes found, they didn't feel sorry anymore. Definitely don't recommend this place. Food itself is not very good neither. First off - gluten-free Peroni & gluten-free soy sauce! That set the night off to a great start. (Although I think a bottle of Peroni was 100 NOK which was a bit shocking.) All allergens were clearly listen on the menu. Thank you. Our meal was phenomenal. We ate so slowly to savor it. The fish was fresh, the rolls were beautiful, & the flavors were balanced. My wife and I were really let down with Zuuma after reading all the amazing reviews all over the internet. We couldn't get a reservation on the Thursday before Constitution Day (not surprising) but we decided to try our luck and go early. Even though they were still packed at 5:30, we were able to get one of the last open seats and were seated right away! We ordered the Edamame which was good but VERY salty. I ordered the Spicy Tuna maki and the Soft Crab fukamaki. The spicy tuna was just ok, if doused in soy sauce. The soft crab was not good at all. Both were rolled so poorly I had to eat several pieces with my fingers and they were both really bland. My wife got the Spicy Salmon and the Spicy Salmon Inside Out. She liked hers better than mine, but was still disappointed. Maybe I just ordered wrong, so I'd be willing to go back. The staff were nice and the ambiance is great. It's centrally located to everything and I always love the open-kitchen concept where you can watch the sushi chefs work. But I expected a lot more from the sushi based on all the great reviews ... and the prices. read more

Excellent food and service. Made a reservation about an hour before hand and the hostess was extremely pleasant. Sat at the bar and chatted with the chefs while they prepared the rolls. Seemed to be a very popular spot for take away. Over all the food and service was excellent and the price was pretty reasonable too. read more

I want to give this place 4 stars because of the food but I cannot because of the poor service. We just arrived in Ålesund and didn't have reservation so we were seated at the bar which seems to be the area that doesn't have designated server. First we we were taken care off by the receptionist then another waitress then we couldn't get more decent service after that. Then they inadvertently added a bottle of wine to our friend's bill and things went south from there. We love the food BUT not the attitudes of many of the servers! read more

This is a great place to stop in for a bite of fresh sashimi. The staff are very friendly and the food is definitely above average for a sushi bar. The only issue is the wait time for your food takes about three times longer then any sushi bar I have been to. The pricing is a bit high for the portion size but all in all a good place to eat. read more

This is probably one of the worse sushi I have ever had. The ladies serving were very helpful and quick. It is not their fault, of course :) The quality of the rice-very poor. And with the sea right by their window, they should also have fresher fish. If this is the best sushi in Aalesund, then I warmly recommend to skip sushi while here. We went here twice while in Alesund. The sushi was amazing. The decor and ceramics were beautiful. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I hope to go back some say if I'm in Norway again. Sushi will never be the same! read more

This is one of the best sushi places I have ever been to. The service was okay but the food is hands down insane! We got the zuumakase which was fairly large and everything on it was fantastic. The fish is super fresh and the rice stays tight. Everything we had was delicious. I will be back again. I would highly recommend this place. read more
