Maybe I just needed to try again. But alas. While there are some good art pieces here and good artists, I again feel like this is all about exploiting the work of people long dead rather than focusing on living artists who need to sell their work. Again, they do have a few interesting galleries that I follow, like the Fountain House Gallery, who focuses on art made by those with psychiatric conditions. Just like when I attended in 2024, it was crowded and stuffy and hard to connect with gallery owners and artists. It was hard to see some pieces because of the crowds. I'm not sure I would ever pay 60 bucks to see this show again. It's absolutely suffocating to the point you can't enjoy the art. You're just as well off visiting galleries across the Burroughs. They are free and not crowded to the brim, and you'll still see some very interesting and off the beaten path pieces.

Sometimes overwhelming because there is SO much great art but at the same time VERY informative, as these dealers know these works/artists inside and out. Do not be afraid to ask the dealer questions. It's their passion and will be happy to talk with you. It's a must see, especially if your interested in starting a collection. Secret: Many dealers who couldn't get space in the show have rented spaces in art galleries in the area.....so if you didn't get to see enough....there is MORE!

The gallery is located in a very grand, very beautiful Beaux-Arts townhouse on East 64th. It's so beautiful, the building itself is a highlight of any visit to the gallery. But the exhibits when I visited were great, too. I was able to see two exhibits during my visit on Saturday. "The Adventure of Domenico Gnoli," the exhibit I read about in the Times, closes on May 23, 2026. It's the largest exhibit of the artist's works in the United States in more than 5 decades (since his solo show in NYC in 1969). (Gnoli died of cancer at age 36 in 1970, so he only produced ~ 150 paintings in his short life.) The other exhibit I saw (you have to take an elevator from the second floor) was Armig Santos: Baladas, which closes on June 13. I appreciate the clean look of the galleries, which they are able to achieve by not having any wall labels by the pieces. They do have a few printed gallery guides at the desk where you enter that you can grab or you can scan QR codes on the wall as you enter each gallery. But I did miss the additional context and information that other galleries and museums include at the beginning of and throughout an exhibit. Still, the galleries are beautiful, and the works were very interesting. The Gnoli works surprised me and made me smile. And I appreciated learning about Armig Santos, a very young artist from Puerto Rico. It's a beautiful gallery with some great exhibits. I enjoyed my visit and have already signed up for their email list so I can visit upcoming shows!

Small crowd so far but everyone is in an upbeat mood. We're offered some wine and fruit. Tastes like moscato so I'm already tipsy as I prefer pinot or chardonnay myself. I'm not a fan of the sweet. They promised that the show would start on time and It did. UPDATE: The show was great! Dave Lester the host was a gem comedian! Died laughing (reviewing from the grave). He was followed by two other comedians the gorgeous Kerry Coddett and the very keeping it real Tarick Daniels. Two burlesque entertainers Madarine Moonfly and CC Brown Shugah seduced the audience with their hips and antics and then there was a climactic finale by Actor/Comedian (BET's Shaft and Baby Boy movie) Freddie Ricks. Yes Sirs and Ma'ams it was worth the price and I'll be supporting this troop again. The End

They were founded in 2010 and moved into their current space on Madison Avenue at East 64th in 2016. (Love to visit art museums when you visit NYC? Don't sleep on the city's art galleries. Because Di Donna's exhibits are as museum-quality as they promise on their website.) Here's how it works. It's free to visit. (FYI they are closed on Sundays.) You'll walk up to a white door on Madison Avenue (it's marked to let you know you're in the right place) and press a call button. Then you'll be let into a hallway and you'll walk down it to the elevator which you take to Di Donna's floor. Then you walk into a small but intimate and modern gallery space (about three separate gallery rooms). It's free to visit, and there were a few staff members at a desk to answer questions and selling an exhibition catalogue. The exhibit I saw on Saturday (which closes on June 13, 2026) was Dalí: The Great Years. The exhibit was great. Many of the pieces were on loan from the Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida. Since I've never been there, I probably hadn't seen any of them before unless they'd been loaned out for other exhibits I saw in the past. The exhibit was well-organized (it is chronological so it was easy to know where to start, where to go next, and where to finish) and had helpful information to read while exploring the galleries. I had a great time at Di Donna, and I've already signed up for their email list so I'll know when their next great exhibit opens!

Case in point this Jack Kirby exhibit called "Jack Kirby: From The Ghetto to the Cosmos" that was being curated by the folks from the Jack Kirby Museum and Research Center. For this particular exhibit, a number of reproductions of Kirby's work was hung for visitors along with numerous signage that spoke about the artists interesting history. For those not in the know, Kirby was a founding artist in Marvel Comics history and created amazing characters with Stan Lee that entertained all in comic books like "Fantastic Four", "X-Men" and "The Mighty Thor". The space itself is nice and can accomodate a sizable amount of works is they are presented in a certain fashion and go higher up on the walls which felt like they were about 12' in height. For this show, the entire space was not being utilized as it didn't go all the way to the back. There wasn't a restroom that I noticed or at least not one that is open to the general public and I didn't detect an open WiFi during my visit. It is however quite easy to get to as its right off the R train at the City Hall stop and a short wander down Warren Street. The 4, and 3 trains also are nearby along with a number of different food options if you wish to get a bite to eat after you visit whatever exhibit is being showcased here. I think this is a great space for a small comic art showcase and perhaps a group of connected talent can use it to broadcast their works. That's all I've got to say about this one. The show I was seeing here will be over by the time many end up seeing this Yelp.

That said, if you've never toured a 1860s/1870s cast iron 5-story loft building in SoHo, with all of the period charm still intact, you should def have a look. Tour is not the listed 75-90 mins, it runs inside of 60 mins for the guided tour of the 5 floors, so it's a small commitment.

But I'd never visited this NYC site until this past Friday, when I took a tour of his house/studio at 101 Spring Street. So who was Judd? An American artist associated with minimalism (although our tour guide told us that Judd didn't like the term). He bought this property in 1968 and used it for his residence and studio even as he started spending more time in Marfa beginning in the 70s. The tour was fantastic. For about an hour and a half, our tour guide showed us several different levels of the property - the kitchen and dining room, the bedroom floor, another floor which served as a design and studio space, and more. The space is - shock shock - minimalist, but there's incredible art (his and others), furniture (including a dining room table he designed that I loooooooved), and other incredible touches. Our tour guide shared incredible stories about Judd and his family. He was informative, friendly, and funny, and the tour was a delight. If you're interesting in art (especially 20th century art and concepts) or architecture (the property has been renovated but in a way intended to preserve the property as it was during Judd's life and use of it) or are just looking for something to do in the City that is a little bit off the beaten path, definitely check out this tour!

It's a contemporary art gallery, and it is definitely worth following to see if they have an exhibit you want to check out. This Leonora Carrington exhibit is worthy of a visit. She's a fascinating artist whose sculptural work hasn't been that easy to find in galleries and museums in the US until more recently. The gallery isn't large, and it's configured a little strangely (small boxy spaces). But it still might have some art that you'll regret not stopping by to see. I'm glad we stopped by.
