This part of Mohringen seems to have plenty of places to eat, and Lindenhof is certainly a good choice. It's taken some getting used to on my part to just walk in and take a seat, but German restaurants don't have hostesses, and once you take a seat a server will be over sooner or later. For my mid-week lunch, the server showed up quickly enough, as did my food, but it got busier and she was by herself, so the check took a little longer. Overall the service was pretty typical for Germany. As far as food goes, I wasn't feeling too adventurous, so it was just jagerschnitzel and spaetzle for me. The jagerschnitzel was perfectly good; plenty of pork, nice and tender, with a sauce that was flavorful and rich without being too thick. The spaetzle was fine, but not the best I've had. Rather than being served under the pork and sauce it was in a side dish, and for some reason I had a heck of a time trying to get it out and eat it without getting it all over the place. That said, I did like the touch of cinnamon sugar on top, which isn't something I've seen before. Overall I had quite a nice lunch at Lindenhof, and if I was back in the area I'd be perfectly willing to go again.

I had a delicious Helle beer, a typica German salat with the potato salad and green beans mixed in, and a small piece of toast with some chopped, seasoned tomatoes on top. Then came the Jäger schnitzel with spatzle. Good amount of mushrooms and gravy. You could tell the spatzle was homemade. The only negative was the saltiness. Very salty! The restaurant had a menu in English, which was helpful. The waitress was very prompt, and the food came out quickly. I'm not sure if they normally do this, but when paying the bill the waitress just rounded my bill up and gave me €1 back instead of €1.60. I didn't make a fuss because I was probably going to leave it on the table anyway, but still, don't presume you get to keep it.

Schlösslesmühle is tucked into a narrow valley about halfway between Leinfelden and Waldenbuch, and while you can drive there, the best way to get there is to walk or bike from the parking lot near the Musberg Seebruckenmühle bus stop (~25 minute walk) or the lot near the Musberg Eselsmühle bus stop (~45 minute walk). There are a few parking spots out front, but no more than 4-5; walking or biking here is the norm. Most of the seating is outside in a beer garden, but there are a few tables inside as well. Ordering is done at the register, when food is ready a server walks out and calls the order number, you raise you hand, and they bring it over. Prices were fine for the portion sizes, less than €20 total for two beers, a brat platter with salad and fries, and a piece of strawberry cake, which fed two of us. Food was a little above average, but nothing amazing. The salad plate that came with the brat platter had a little bit of mixed greens, some pickled radish, and some potato salad as well; the variety was nice rather than just getting a giant plate of greens. The brats (a plump and white style) were nicely grilled, with the casings crisped up better than usual. Pommes were, well, pommes, and had the usual seasoned-salt shaken over them. The strawberry cake was excellent, with quality strawberries and a light filling between two layers of white cake. With all the hikes to do in the surrounding area, we'll definitely be back for a lunch break here.

First of all, the meat was perfectly cooked, the gravy complementary to the meal as a whole. The plate contained a small bit of greens, mushroom and other bits. The flavor was fantastic and throughly enjoyed. My mother used to make spaetzle and his were every bit the part. I almost forgot they started with a nice salad, some of which I would not normally eat but the dressing was very good. I actually walked into the kitchen to thank him for such a great closing meal! You won't find your typical schintzel or sausage. Their menu changes everyday and uses fresh ingredients. Lovey and mom ordered the dinner menu which includes mushroom soup, salad with German potato salad, carrots , beets and then the main entree is pork wrapped in bacon placed in a skewer. This was followed by a big dessert with housemate gingerbread ice cream, with pineapple sorbet and cookie wafers with freshly made whip cream. I ordered roasted elk with potato croquettes served with walnut ice cream. My sister in law ordered trout and my brother in law ordered 3 pieces of meat, chicken, steak and pork on top of handmade spatzel. Everything was delicious as we all tried each other's dish. My nephew's chicken nuggets were made from scratch and not frozen that it tasted like schnitzel. I highly recommend this place. The owner/chef came out and thanked us for joining him for dinner.
