Looking for a place off the tourist track and a place with great wine and food, this is the place…read moreto go in Celle. Following reviews here on yelp, we decided to try it out, and found a cosy little wine bar and restaurant in a small alley in the old town. We sat outside in the small courtyard in front of the restaurant, but as one of the few places in Celle, it would have been possible to sit inside too, in the cool wine cellar below the streets.
We shared a starter of home made falafel, which was actually really good. First time my girlfriend tried falafel, and she liked it. For the main course my girlfriend had the grilled sword fish with grilled vegetables, and according to her the best vegetables she have had in a long time. I had the veel Wiener schnitzel with potatoes and a delicious mushroom sauce, a very tender schnitzel in just the right size portion.
The wine here was probably the best experience of them all. We started with a glass of bubbles on this warm evening, and switched for the main course to the Mosel Riesling (2014), which was probably the best white wine we have had for a very long time - so smooth and delicious, perfect balance between dry and sweet, so fresh! We also tried a glass of rosé, which was also really good, although couldn't beat the Riesling :).
Service too was really great. A young and a little shy waitress was so sweet and waited all the tables to perfection.
