Gathering place for one and all, of all types, shapes, and sizes. Where we once all came together for the latest styles, trends, blockbusters, albums, and books, fast-ish food, and we did so face to face. In reality. In real time. For better, and even at times, for the worse. But alas, no longer. Now, there's an app for that, download this, you can get it online, Netflix, Starbucks, the cine-megaplex! In high school, we met chicks here! They were exotic! They were from across the river! We cruised for babes! Cold called 'em! Just straight up, went up and talked to them! Didn't know them. They didn't know us. This is how we met. How we communicated. How we socialized, interacted, and got along. Established long, and often short term relationships. We got digits. They gave us their numbers. We called them on a following day on their home phones. Their parents or siblings frequently took that call first. This mall, and those days are long past. There are few stores left from that bygone era. Zumiez here is even a newer store. Zumiez does skateboards, and somewhat of its' accompanying 21st Century flare, with ever so slight 20th Century whispers. Like hearing the ocean in a seashell, you can slightly hear the ocean, but the ocean itself is distant and out of sight, yes, there are sweet hints here of Santa Cruz, and Bones Brigade skateboarding materials and accessories. There are few icons about. These relics mingle with more youthful and current ironies. The music overhead, blaring, not what a Gen X-skateshop certainly would have blared, but instead some hardcore gangsta rap. And the clerk, God bless him, he knows all the words. I'd go drown my mid-40's-something sorrows at a nearby Orange Julius stand, if only I could. There is no Orange Julius stand at this mall. Not anymore.

Saturday night. I…read morewent in there twice, looking for running shoes. The mall closes at 9, but it was maybe 8:15-8:20, so I decided to run in to make a quick purchase. I came in the store the first time, and the first employee spoke to me as soon as he saw me. I looked around and saw a shoe that I liked, but decided to go to see what the other stores had to offer before making a final purchase. I came back a second time to try on a shoe. The other guy, a taller employee, was who I dealt with this time. He acted as if he was bothered by me requesting for a certain size in the shoe. I asked for a sock, and he acted like he was bothered then too, when he turned away from me to retrieve the sock. It was like I was a burden to him to make him do his job. At least do it with a "fake" smile. After trying on the shoe, I decided I didn't want to make the purchase. It didn't fit to my liking, but the main reason I left and went to Finish Line to make my purchase was because of the vibe I felt from the second worker. The first worker was fine- but that second one-- not so much. At Finish Line, both employees were courteous and very willing to help. I even got a better deal there! I won't be back to Hibbet, but I recommend you check out Finish Line!

We stop in here whenever we are low on plastic worms. They seem to have a better selection than…read moremost Academy's. They are the only place where I have been able to find the Tequila Sunrise color of worm. Service is always good and the store is usually pretty clean. I have never had any issues finding what I need at a decent price.
