There is an extensive list of expensive cocktails, but I suggest you stick with beer. We sampled a frozen margarita and mint julep, both of which were poor examples. The biggest problem with this place is the service is PAINFULLY slow. It was so slow, that I'm pretty sure a woman skipped on her bill after waiting too long. Expect to spend a long time here even if you're just coming for after dinner drinks.

On a recent visit with a friend and his daughter, my wife and my daughter (both children under 3 y…read moreold), we loved the interior, the food and the wine. Unfortunately, the service was about the worst thing that ever happened to us in Frankfurt or anywhere for that matter. Our children were not very loud and were flirting with the guests on the table nearby (who were flirting back). A few minutes into our stay, the waiter comes and asks us to "tune our children down" and to imagine we would be on a romantic dinner - "would you want to be disturbed by children's noise?" he asked. "And just to make it clear, nobody complained, I just want to make sure it stays like that." What should you say to that? Well, we tried our best and did stay calm. Until we (remember, all adults at our table had wine and a full meal) took out the drinking bottle for our daughter when the waiter came again with the words "I don't want to be annoying, but could you please be so kind and remove this drinking bottle from the table?" Sounds like this story is made up? That's what I would think, if I hadn't seen it. What is really sad about it is that we really liked the food, the prices and the restaurant, but like this, we sure enough won't come again.

I could probably go ten different ways with this review...so I'll just say. This was a lot of…read morefood, a "par-for-the-course" traditional German fare restaurant, and a pretty robust meal. I was impressed by the amounts of food. The clinic we were visiting in Frankfurt likes to take all of the current visiting patients to a traditional German dinner during their last week of stay. So they've done this before, many times, and probably brought a decent amount of visitors to the restaurant. It was crowded. We were 17 people and it was a tight squeezed. There were tons of apps including dips, hand cheese, breads, and a soup. Our tables had massive samplers of all the regional foods; Pork knuckle, pork shoulder, blood sausage, a variety of wursts, sauerkraut, pickled onions, boiled potatoes, some kind of puree of potato, and a baked fish dish too. We ate, drank wine and beers, they brought shots of an apricot schnapps, and we even had a sample of desserts...it was a smorgasbord to say the least. Did I eat too much - yes. Did I enjoy myself - yes. Would I go back to this specific beer garden/restaurant - maybe. The only real turnoff was the server(s) who disappeared for long periods of time. We were also witness to a slight server war between the main guy and another server we asked to bring us stuff when we couldn't find our main guy. They really got into it, as I guess being a big party a nice tip was on the line and he didn't want to split it. I mean there's other ways of going about handling that and berating a young female waitress in front of the customers was totally unexpected and really not called for. But otherwise this was a pretty good experience. Note this place fills up. It's huge, and there's a massive outdoor beer garden as well. It's been open a long time and is a really famous stop for folks looking for 'real' German food. Alles in allem ein ziemlich gutes Abendessen!
