This restaurant specializes in Frankfurter 'soul food', if you can call regional dishes 'soul…read morefood'. They have "Handkäse" which is a pretty stinky type of cheese served with picked onions on top. They also have more hefty meat and potato dishes. I got the Fränkische Wurste on top of Sauerkraut. It was good and they have caraway seeds on the table, ready to go! And, of course, since they are a Frankfurter Restaurant they have Apfelwein (Apple wine). This stuff is relatively low in alcohol; I'm guessing in the neighborhood of about 4% abv. On top of that, it is cloudy and not heavily carbonated. The aroma is strongly of apples but you can't really taste them, instead it is tart with hints of horse-blanket. You might call it 'rustic'. The restaurant is situated at a T-instersection, but about 4 roads come together around the intersection. In any case, the city made a little plaza by this intersection and Weida's outdoor seating takes advantage of that. The contrast between the outdoor and indoor decor can be shocking. Outside, you sit on benches at tables and the surface is new and dark and fairly open, even though there are buildings all around. Inside is typically German with lots of wood and low ceilings, as well as longer tables so you can share your table with another party. I've only been once, but from what I hear, the quality of the food is consistently good and the price is well worth it. Especially if you are just visiting for a short trip, you should go to Weida!

The food is great too. I order the Frankfurter and potatoes dish that was excellent. The Frankfurter had a nice snappy casing and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. We also order a German flat pizza that is called flammkuchen. It was great!! It had mushrooms, grill onions and bit of cheese. I am a fan!! The service is great and the place is kept very clean. Very pleasant place for German food…read more I'm updating and adding a fourth star. Not much has changed but my reasoning for adding a star is simple. Mrs. S and I realized how tough it was in my neck of the woods to find a really pleasant place with good eats, decent wine selection and easy on the wallet..... without having to cross either the Rhine or the Main rivers. It's as if I live in a cursed patch with no obvious alternatives. Then II realized I'd never taken her to Schaab Louis and hadn't been my self for quite some time. Simply put: lovely weingarten, solid German fare at fair prices, good selection of local German wines at fair prices. I'd been moaning about not having such a place when it was right under my nose. Wine list is not high-end, but has some nice Rheingau rieslings and a few other varietals. prices in Ordnung. The server actually knew her wine quite well not just those on the card but was well versed on wine in general. Probably a vinter's daughter. Not expensive at alll. Place is rather small though so def reserve a table beforehand (we were lucky I guess). I'm sure we'll be back.

We ordered various dishes, which I can't even remember who got what, but I do know I had a center cut steak that was Sooo Good! Hat off to the Chef. The Ratskeller is a wellknown and frequently visited location. So it might be useful to make a reservation in advance. The chairs outside are only a few. Sitting there in the summertime is recommendable. The service is not absolutely prompt but there is not such a long time to wait until a friendly waiter appears at the table. For very good food go Waldlust or Ratskeller. These are the best in Oberursel !!!
