What a way to be welcomed into Germany…read more I came here with a friend to grab a bite to eat and try some Frankfurt beer. The food (a hamburger with fries) was cooked well and paired well with the local beer. Definitely a neighborhood gem. Speaking of gems... I just want to thank Lily, our lovely bartender, who made us feel at home. We had a fun chat about nature and areas of study. I love interacting with friendly locals, they share their worldview and make you feel at home. When I stop by Frankfurt, I'll definitely stop by here for the food, the drinks, and the great German hospitality!

I wouldn't recommend this bar. The service was slow and poor. The beer selection was very limited…read more Although the menu clearly states that they accept credit cards, I was abruptly told to pay in cash when i asked for the check. Misleading and unprofessional!!!

We were looking for a different restaurant when we stumbled upon Binding Schirn, but so glad we…read moredid. They serve traditional German food and beer. We sat outside at communal tables under umbrellas, so we could people watch in the square and enjoy the beautiful day. We were starving after a day of travel, so we ordered a ton of food: the tomato soup and goulash soup to start--which were both so good! I can't name the slice used in the goulash, but the flavor was robust and so filling! I could eat both soups every day and die happy! Next we had our main courses: my husband tried the Rindwurst mit Kartoffelsalat (rindwurst is a beef based sausage) and I tried the Krakauerwurst mit Kartoffelsalat (krakauerwurst is a pork based sausage); kartoffelsalat is a potato salad. Entrees also came w a slaw of carrots and cabbage and a slice of brown bread. The sausage was so flavorful, the potato salad delicious, and that brown brea!! So glad this was our first dinner in Germany!!

They also have bottled beers if that's not enough choice for you. Food is traditional and filling German pub fare, and there are some vegetarian options. We found the staff to be very helpful and reasonably efficient, although the interior is rather dominated by the large TV screen showing soccer. The clientele are a mix of students and down-to-earth locals, who took great interest in us! (I doubt many expense-account travellers venture here...) The only downer for us was that smoking is permitted at the bar, which does rather drift across the rest of the pub.

You know it's good when theres no English menu and everyone there are locals. I got the Bratwurst with kale and potatoes. The potato wedges are crisped wonderfully. The pork schnitzel was the best we had this trip as well. Their apple wine is homemade. They also sell Misplechen which is a Hessian beverage that translate to apples but it's actually made of loquat with a marinated pear on top. You can't leave without trying their chocolate pudding with freshly whipped cream on top! The family owners are so friendly. The place is welcoming and quaint. The owner there hand make goods like knitted items and ornaments (not sure if this is just during Christmas time) and you can take them for a donation which goes to handicapped children. We thought this was awesome as it's for a good cause and we get to get some souvenirs hand made by locals. It's different from the Christmas markets. This will most definitely always be a stop whenever flying in to the Frankfurt airport! The name of this place is appropriate because this place is fire!!!
