We would definitely come back again and would highly recommend this place. Everything from the drinks, bread with special butters, soups, truffle pasta, chicken with a pastry top version of a chx pot pie and some other entrees were all terrific. The apple dessert did not disappoint either - yum ( need to order ahead to give it 25 mins or so ) First rate -don't miss this gem of a restaurant! . Thx you for a wonderful dinner! Enjoy

The soup was refreshing and I really enjoyed it. The bread was good as well. One of the spreads was obazda dip which I love. I thought they made it ok. We started with the veal ravioli. They were tender and tasted pretty good. I had the restaurant special which was basically a chicken pot pie. I thought it was good but I've had better. I thought the chicken was over cooked and the capers inside was a bit off putting to me because there were so many and made the whole dish too sour for me. It was a bit off putting. My friend had the fillet with white asparagus and potatoes and hollandaise sauce. It was basic but I preferred her dish. The dessert had strawberry and tarragon I believe. It was well balanced, not too sweet, and I liked the herbs with the dessert. They also had a nice drink menu and a good variety of wines. They did not let us try the wine before pouring it which I expected since this is a nice place. Overall thought the service was decent but not great.

It's a beautiful building located in the middle of one of the nicest parks in Munich and, has tons of outdoor space and facilities for events. This particular restaurant however, seems to have bucked the trend and has been around for a while now. Initially there were two restaurants but, now there is one. The pizza / Italian place shut down recently (not sure permanently or not) and, I am not really surprised about that. This place however seems of attract a lot of locals and, it was packed last night when we got there, around 8pm. It's an Austrian restaurant and there is a self service Biergarten there as well. I have not eaten in the Austrian restaurant so cannot comment on the food but, it looks good. Will update my review, after I have had a chance to eat there. I have been to the self service Biergarten a couple of times and quite like it. They serve Augustiner bier here (one of my favourite Munich brewers) and there is a food counter also. The food counter has normal Biergarten food choice like sausages, wurstsalat and there is a counter that makes Flamkuchen or alpine pizza. The food is quite ok here and I quite like the Biergarten food. The atmosphere is lovely and I love the park itself. We come here often with the dog, as he loves this park. I will definitely come back here again and try the proper restaurant menu. It's close to where we live and an area we often frequent. A nice and quiet part of the city.

I'm glad I had the opportunity to dine in this beautiful 150 year old restaurant. My review comes after its closure but it serves to honor the restaurant in hosting my visit. The Building is amazing where the walls and ceilings act as palettes for beautiful painted art. Stepping into the restaurant feel as if one is stepping through a time portal where one feels they are dining 151 years ago which is how old the building is. The ambiance is quite lively and energetic. Although the highlight is the space, the food is also very good. Their pretzels are served warm and fresh with a firm exterior and an interior that melts as it enters one's mouth. The soup is flavorful and healthy with not even a drop of oil pooling to the top. The schnitzel is as tender as it gets. The servers were knowledgeable and fast but it is always so busy that the restaurant should consider increasing staff as to improve customer service. Perfect location right in the heart of Marienplatz where the Glockenspiel is a stone's throw away. Overall, a wonderful restaurant to dine with great food and a beautifully historic setting!

Afterall, this is a beer hall, and it can get very busy, rowdy and loud. If that's the vibe you are looking for (I mean why else are you going here?) go with the right expectation. Basic Rules (purely based on my observations): - It's massive and tables are for sharing. Walk in and find yourself a seat. Be polite and ask the guests... the servers are not going to find seats for you. - Go through the menu, and figure out what you want. Be decisive and don't "hmm and haw" when the server is ready to take your order. Use google if you are not sure what a dish is. Of course you can ask the server, but don't be surprised if they are annoyed by too many questions during a busy time. Remember, language barriers can be frustrating for both guests and staff. - They do have Non-alcoholic beers, just make sure to specify. I was only in Munich for a couple days, and visited Hofbräuhaus twice (t was just the easier option in my case). First time: Walked in soon after opening on a Friday because I wanted to try Weisswurst (which is only served before 2pm). Place was nearly empty, so I found a whole table to myself (had others share the table after). Service was on the slower side, but I was able to order pretty quickly. It didn't take too long for the food to arrive. The place started to fill up slowly and the band started playing and it was a cool space. Second time: As I had more family join me and wanted to experience a classic Beerhall, so we went on Saturday around 1 pm with a group of 6. It was completely packed, and very loud. We found a table pretty quickly as people were leaving. It did take a while for the server to come to our table and took a while for the food to arrive. We shared and tried a bunch of dishes and everything was quite good and interesting. Disclaimer: I am not an expert on authentic Bavarian food, so I am not here to comment on that. Simply put - as first time visitors, we enjoyed our meal. Couple other things: Prices were quite reasonable. Although it's pure chaos, it's a fun environment. Staff members can be direct, and the tone may not translate well... which may be a bit frustrating for foreign visitors.
