I'm not really sure what's going on with this location. I ordered the Mediterranean salad. And the meat was off. The taste was disgusting and it was cut thick. The meat was still mushy. So I advised the lady at the register that I wasn't pleased with how it tasted. She gave me a ticket to replace it in the future. Well, today was the future after a few months. Thinking they got over whatever hiccup that was. I ordered the salad again and Absolutely not, the meat is still nasty and mushy. But very dry at the same time. I have actually eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. The food is delicious and the portions are generous. My favorite is the Mediterranean salad with Gyro meat. It is a family friendly place. I come here often with friends to hang out. The staff is friendly and attentive. The restaurant is not very fancy and has a "diner" type of atmosphere. We used to go for years to Zorbas at least 2x weekly in Hope Mills- then last year we had a couple of REALLY bad experiences- moldy tomatoes on my salad & gyro platters/plates not coinciding with normal menu? Just awful- had to return at the table- just bad staff at the time perhaps? But after much hesitation (over a year!) Just place an order at Zorba's the wait was longer than expected and told. Trying to be patient I went out and sat in my car another 15 minutes to come in to find that they had not started on my order. I asked to get my money back because at this point I couldn't wait any longer. They told me my order was being made next if I wanted to keep my order open, but had to ask me what my order was. I was very frustrated at this point and just said I'll take my order. Then the manager/owner assuming told the cashier to refund me my money for having to wait. This was great customer service. I did take the refund because my time is as valuable as theirs, but I did tip them because I know how hard it is to be in their shoes. Found this place by happenstance whilst out and about, without even looking at the reviews I ordered 2 fully loaded Gyros at 1:45 in the afternoon. To go! Got home and shared my treasures. The gyros were stuffed beyond what that poor little flat bread could handle. So juicy and just overloaded. While working near here for a few days I noticed their sign that mentions that they serve breakfast. On Saturday morning I decided to try it before I went to work. The facility is very basic - booths & tables with little adornment on the walls. I was presented with a very well worn breakfast menu, and I ordered the breakfast steak with two scrambled eggs, grits, hash browns and toast. Food was ready with minimal waiting. Went to Zorba's after visiting nearby Hope Mills park. First thing to greet me as I went in was a classic Pac-Man/Galaga machine. Excellent! So I went in and took a seat in the spacious diner. This is, afterall, a nice diner. Not a five star place and certainly not a hole in the wall either. I was greeted by the waitress who promptly took my order and brought my drink. So far so good. I read the mixed reviews posted here on Yelp, so I thought I'd give this place a second try (my first experience was ok). As I waited for my order, I looked around. The concrete floor was clean and stain free, the tables and chairs in were very good shape and cleanliness. Even the windows to the place looked clean to me. Heck, they even brught my utensils in a plastic sleeve. Looked promising to me! lol My food arrived in about 5 minutes or so, all I ordered was two fried eggs, bacon, country sausage link, hashbrown and toast. Just a classic type breakfast. The country sausage link was the star of the meal, juicy and quite flavorful! The eggs were, well, fried eggs. They were fine, not burned like some folks will do. The bacon was as it shoulw always be, crispy but not too crispy where if you look at it the bacon would shatter into bits. Nope, this was the right kind of bacon! The only "con" to this whole experience was the hashbrowns. I was not a fan. Maybe if I had put ketchup on it, it may have been better. Paid the bill (price was reasonable) and of course on my way out I took a turn on that Galaga game! One of the best games I ever had (120k points). lol Go ahead, give Zorba's a try. It's not waffle house or IHOP but that's a good thing in this case, and it is a nice heighborhood diner where they have good food, reaosnable priced and pleasant servers. And they have a cool game to keep those young at heart busy! lol I was here before about a year ago, and this place has changed, IMPROVED, since I was last here. We had lunch at the hope mills location today. Outside of the restaurant looks great. The inside needs some love. Maybe decorated with flea market finds. Doesn't feel clean The food was like the decor needed some love. Taziki on the gyro was bland and watery. The meat was like cubes of unseasoned fat. Fries and onion rings frozen out of the box. Not difficult to cut fresh fries or make onion rings. I was hungry it was close. Would not make a trip back. I have been here 3x in a week. The food is great, the portions are huge and it's cheap. Everything is house made; the pita, dressings, fries, pancake syrup. I didn't get a chance to walk in the 2nd door entrance before the lady pushed open the door to say they were closing. I looked at her surprises and said "what time do you close on Sunday?"
