The Juneau Drug Co. is an easy, short walk from the cruise ship docks, making it an excellent choice if you need something fast. They have all sorts of souvenirs, snacks, and drugstore items. The place is stacked to the ceiling with everything you'd need. After a couple of days at sea tearing up the dance floor, I had really bad blisters that actually made it difficult to walk. In search of band-aids, I found exactly what I needed at Juneau Drug. Now, I paid a premium for them, but it was great to get relief. Note that they also have a very large section of seasickness meds too (at a very high markup). For the convenience and the well-stocked shelves, Juneau Drug gets a solid 4 star rating.

Highly recommend this small local business.

They do take walk in appointments and it was $59 for cars and small SUV's. Absolutely ridiculous customer service. My daughter accidentally dropped a cheap plastic magnet and…read morea tiny piece brok off. The employees immediately demanded that we pay for it. I understand expecting customers to be respectful of merchandise, but accidents happen--especially in a tourist gift shop that welcomes families and children. I've traveled extensively and have never been treated this way over a low-cost souvenir item. What stood out wasn't the money, but the pettiness and complete lack of customer service. A business that values its customers would have handled the situation with a little grace and understanding. Instead, they chose to make us feel unwelcome and embarrassed over a piece of plastic worth very little. There are plenty of souvenir shops that appreciate their customers. I'd recommend spending your money elsewhere.

It had a blue wood on the left side and caribou in the middle and another colored wood on the right. I told her I would take it. Miraculously when I told her I was needing 2, she just happen to find another one. I should have known then something was fishy. So I bought both of them. $710. When we got home from our trip 2 weeks later I opened the boxes she wrapped them in and found she did not give me the original Ulu I had picked out but gave me another one that just had a caribou handle. Don't shop here! First she lies to me, then she switched out the knife I picked out with another one. I will calling the chamber of commerce in Juneau.

The airline lost our luggage so we got on the cruise literally with what we had on our backs. We had 45 minutes in Juneau to shop between the gangway dropping and our first excursion. We ran to the store from the ship and the ladies handed my husband and I stacks to take straight to the fitting rooms. They took excellent care of us and we were in and out in 15 minutes with enough to get us through the rest of our trip. We got pants, socks, hiking shoes, shirts, undergarments, and belts. We're so thankful for the staff of Foggy Mountain going out of their way to help us in a pinch.

Russia has a significant history to Alaska and getting a bit of it's culture can sometimes come across as unexpected but as you read up on the history you acknowledge the historical influence here. For a town like Juneau learning this culture is educational and in the case of a gift shop... pleasant. I got two items here which I really enjoy. I got a Russian Pecking Paddle game which is a lot of fun to play and I got an ornament of a Russian doll which was awesome to put on the Christmas tree at home. Lots of other intriguing merchandise here reflecting Russian culture. Cool USSR t shirts and lots of wooden dolls to browse over all the way to fine jewelry makes this place (at least for us) to slow down and really appreciate and look at the unique merchandise!

Russian-American Company has five stores in Alaska and seem like the Wal-Mart of Russian tchotchke stores. Too bad they couldn't hire Yakov Smirnoff to be a greeter. Matrushkas (nesting dolls) are the thing to get at House of Russia. They also have Santas, snowmen figurines, and little wooden Christmas trees imported from Russia. They have really nice Russian ornaments. I ended up buying an ornament at Russian-American Company instead though because it was much cheaper than House of Russia's. Yes, I'm a horrible, horrible person.
