They call it a Park, and I suppose with a couple of picnic tables in the shelter and the "necessary" building, it is a park, but not one that encourages long-term lounging. There's something about this spot that makes you want to walk, or run, or meander. Here, on top of the rimrocks, either direction, there's an impressive view of the City continuing all the way over to the Beartooth Mountains. It's a park that's also the trailhead for further exploration. Along the route there is an occasional bench upon which to sit and look at the sunset, or the sunrise, or the clouds moving over the mountains. The path is wide enough to accommodate walkers, joggers, and bikers in both directions. It's ADA accessible. But, come back to the Park to take a break, or have that picnic, or just stand around and chat with friends. You can't lose with the view.

The typical food places are there, serving the usual not-so-healthy fare, but there are also some with lighter choices. On a hot day in the sun, the beer tent gives some welcome relief. The hall is open, but most booths are empty save for displays promoting next years fair. With a couple of exceptions, most vendors who are in person are hawking cleaners, mattresses, and the like. On the other hand, there is a bingo game going on in the open space in the next room. So, something for everyone here. There is live music from time to time in the courtyard area. The adults who aren't playing bingo can relax while the kids are doing their thing. It's a very laid back fair this year. For a $5 entry fee, this escape can't be topped as a way to get outside, give the kids something to do (rides cost extra) and just enjoy being out. Masks are required for entry this year, but with fewer people making for easier social distancing, the masks didn't stay on long once people got inside the fair grounds.

In more or less the middle of town, we found this park: a large rectangle of grass, shade trees, a considerable play structure, and a few other odds and ends like a small basketball court, tetherball, and an athletic field. Heck, there's even a sand volleyball pit that looks well used. Just a few folks enjoying a quiet day of white puffy clouds and cerulean skies, along with our family. We picked one of the picnic tables in the park, a table that would have been reserved through some kind of online system back home. Not here, plenty to choose from and each one inviting for a road weary family. It felt good to get out of the car, and move around a little bit. A freight train went by on the nearby tracks, reminding us that this ain't SoCal. I can't imagine when we'd be back here again, but suffice to say, it made for a nice memory, and glad to put them in the Yelposphere.
