This is by far the hardest updated review I have ever written. My colorist, of over three decades, passed away from cancer a few months ago. She was an exceptional colorist, a friend, and felt like family. There was a lovely memorial at the salon. I have included a picture of her station where loving photos adorn the wall. The owner of the salon, Ofeer, is a phenomenal stylist and has a heart of gold. At Yelp we support local businesses and this is just the kind of business we want to support. Yvonne answers the phone and greets you with a warm smile. She is wonderful as she schedules appointments and makes sure clients are happy and satisfied. Mila is a sweetheart. She gives great shampoos. As she massages your scalp you feel so relaxed and pampered. I don't want to leave her chair. Before Barbara passed away, she recommended that I try Angie for my styling needs. I have been going to Angie for the past 3 months. She is sweet, caring, and does a great job. I am happy that I have continued to go to Zohra. The staff is top notch and each works hard to please their clients. It was really hard coming back and not seeing Barbara. It takes a special salon to honor her memory and continue to do a professional, caring, and superb job for all of their clients. Angie is AHMAZING! She has been my stylist since she was in hair school and I was 6! I've followed her through the years. She's so amazing with knowing exactly what my hair is capable of and what it's not. Angie's color and cut is perfection every time. I drive from Laurel,Md to see her! She works wonders with all kinds of hair types. She even corrects mistakes from other less experience beauticians. Highly recommend giving her a try. You will fall in love! read more

Wow... Some harsh reviews here! I see Cindy and I live her for my curly hair. She is Deva certified and that's how I found her, by the Deva website. She does a great job with color and cuts and I'm always happy she's an artist, too outside of cutting hair. She's also very available because she lives her job. The salon is nice. It doesn't strike me as dirty. It's getting steeped constantly. The front desk staff are hit or miss. Some seem a bit stuck up and others are nice. They do expect you to know where to go though. They've called me in the past asking me to change my appointment time which annoyed me. There's a nice lounge area in the back with tea, coffee and sometimes bagels depending on time of day. They also sell jewelry. They're not open on Monday or Sunday Anyway, I go for Cindy. I'm happy. The only downside really is that you can't tip on credit card. I have been getting my hair done by Kevin at Zohra Salon for over 6 years and he is absolutely fabulous! The salon is clean and nicely decorated and the stylists are excellent especially Kevin. So I'm a real stickler when it comes to my hair , mainly because it takes forever to grow and is fragile , so You can say I'm overly particular about my hair , but one day this girl walked by me with this great do and I asked her who she went to and she told me Zohras and she told me everyone there's good . I had the manager cut my hair and it turned out beautiful ..I had let it grow out losing most my layers and it was in desperate need of a clean up and a little more movement and needed highlights . Well it was prettier then I imagined and I was so nervous going in . The best part I felt like I got a great cut but lost very little hair Alfrio ( sorry if Zi spelled that wrong). Sometimes first haircut with a new stylist can be stressful - not at Zohra with Angie! She's professional, communicative, talented and fun. I do not enjoy haircuts, and have been cutting my own hair for 7 years, so I was nervous to get really stylist involved (guilt, shame, etc). But Angie was so nice about it, that I just forgot my stress and let her do her thing. Love the process and the results. Heading back for highlights next week. read more

I went in as a walk-in and was grateful that a hairdresser, who had just left came back, but I'm sad to say I didn't have a good experience. Besides being shuffled around and not knowing where to go, the salon needed a good cleaning and my cut was not good. Decent stylists, but their front desk personnel are not the least bit professional. And trying to figure out where you are to go in their maze of chairs and stations is ridiculous. There's just no real personal service or indication that they care. The lack of service and attentiveness is obvious from the very start -while just making the appointment on the phone. This has happened more than once and I think it's time to find another salon. read more

I love my hairstylist, Kevin. I always get complements on my hair. But the front desk service is usually pretty terrible. I always always always have to call more than one time to make an appointment. Some times the phone can ring with no answer or an answering machine. Some times I am on hold until I get tired of waiting. And most times the woman sounds cranky. If not for the front desk, the salon would get 5 stars. read more

I could not disagree more strongly with the negative reviews of Zohra's staff and facility. My daughter got married three weeks ago and my wonderful stylist Kevin made my difficult-to-manage hair look fantastic! Just as he does every time he does my hair. But on this special day, I got rave reviews from all the guests at the wedding. As for my daughter, a beautiful bride was made even more beautiful, thanks largely to Johnny who gave her a knockout upswept hairdo. The front desk is rude?? Never! Yvonne and her associates are always polite and accommodating, even when I have forgotten to make a timely appointment. Furthermore, the bathroom and the kitchen are always immaculate. I wish I could give Zohra 500 stars. I have been going to Kevin since I was 14. I am extremely picky when it comes to my course, curly hair. I've lived in California, Michigan, and Chicago for brief periods and have looked for salons that could compare to Zohra, and so far none have ever come close. Zohra Salon is a great part of my Stress-Reliever regiment. I go to Nicole every 4 to 6 weeks who does wonders for my short wavy fine hair - meaning my hair, as is, leaves much to be desired. Nicole is my Go To transformer. At a recent family wedding, Nicole did a fantastic 'do' for me, my mom, and 2 sisters. All done in a professional, confident, super customer-friendly manner - we all left feeling great about our crowning glories! The Z-Salon is just Incomparable. Staff are absolute pros. If Nicole is on vacation, and I just fall into another stylist's chair, one cannot go wrong as well. They are all SUPER when it comes to hair. This place is my hair's savior. Ofeer fixed a hair disaster from another salon-bad color and sloppy cut, and it looks fantastic now after his wise eyes and clever hands. This was my first visit here. My impressions: Friendly staff, beautifully decorated salon, nice set up with an area to relax away from other services in the back. I got a color and cut, both came out great! Color is rich and hair is very shiny. The cut is different than I usually get but stylist listened to my requests and it came out well. I get my haircut there and would give that 5 stars but for waxing i give it none. I got a brazilian waxed and she waxed the inside of me and now i have cuts everywhere and am in so much pain. I have never experienced this in all my years of getting waxed and am so disappointed. read more

I am surprised to see negative comments here. I have gotten excellent service at this salon. I have been to three different stylists, but usually go to Amy or Johnny. They are consistent and friendly. I often get compliments on my hair, people will stop me and ask where I get my hair done. so yes, will be going back. Made an appointment and was told that my haircut would be $65. After my hair was already cut when and went to go pay I was told it was $75. My hair is normal length and not hard to work with, yet when I came home and washed my hair I now notice that my layers are not even from side to side. My head looks completely lopsided. Not sure why they charged so much for a shitty job. I DO NOT RECOMMEND NICOLE! That is who I used, should have known a girl with tattoos all over her and skunk hair would not be good. Worst haircut ever! The stylist ignored everything I said and just cut my hair. I asked for shoulder length, cut two inches off. She cut my hair to chin length, cutting nearly five inches off. Now I have to spend the summer growing my hair back and looking ridiculous. read more
