Was in town visiting friends and had a taste for something culturally close for my palate. Was not necessarily looking for Jamaican food, but I could not turn down Haitian food. Zoe's is in a part of downtown close to where I worked when I once lived in Rochester, so I stopped in. The chicken patty was delicious. It had the thickness in crust like Nigerian meat pies. The chicken was seasoned nicely and proper tender. The stew fish with their black rice hit the spot. For those who order this dish, you get a whole fried fish, which means you will have to deal with some fine bones. But the flavor is amazing. The owner indicated that they have been open for five months as of this post. The stretch along State Street may not get a lot of foot traffic and nearby parking may be difficult to find. But go on a Saturday when parking on the street is free. They will take you to Flavor Country. read more

Saw this place opened so I popped during my first Rochester visit. Didn't know they just open-opened, only a few weeks ago! Had to get them up and running on Yelp because this place was FANTASTIC! Got the stew chicken with a chicken patty, and every bite was so tasty. The people were so friendly and the whole place was having a blast! Vibes were immaculate. The food is delicious. The owner is super awesome. The staff are super friendly and the place is clean. I ordered from there for friendsgiving lunch and the haitian black rice was a hit.
