The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the ambience is wonderful -- the whole front of the restaurant opens up with folding doors and overlooks Winchester's Market Square. On a recent trip, we ate there twice. The first time we had a margarita pizza and their pot pie. Both were delicious. The second time, we had appetizers to share -- bread and olives ( little niggle, it would have been nice if the olives had been warmed, but they were delicious anyway) and the meatballs, which were excellent. I liked my friend's pasta a bit better, which was a purple pesto tagliatelle. The noodles were very lovely and tasted fresh. I wish the meals had come with bread, as the starters were a bit pricey. My friend did not like her burrata salad at all, as the tomatoes used were not ripe and were hard to cut with her fork. The lemonade samples were a nice touch, though there was a bug on our plate and spider webs on our forks due to our choice of a table outside. Our food took quite a while to get to us, so I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're in a hurry. Overall, the service was decent, but I feel you could get better value for your money elsewhere.

Fifty minutes passed. A little while later, the partner gets a text message from the driver and he calls him up. The driver said he couldn't find our house and became difficult when my partner tried to explain our location to him. The driver was rude to my partner and hung up on him. My partner phoned Dominos to complain. It was explained to us that the driver wasn't going to co-operate and had effectively gone AWOL. The supervisor we spoke to said he'd cook our food again and gave us a full refund. Nice man. An hour later, a different driver delivered our food. He apologised for his colleague's behaviour. Trouble was, our order wasn't right. The Fanta became coke and the thin crust on one of the pizzas had become a cheese stuffed crust. Delivery driver was mortified but we decided to leave it. Just feel there was a lack of customer service and attention to detail. I would like to point out that we've had loads of Dominos delivered and this was the first time something went wrong.

La Fenice is a good Italian restaurant…read more However, it has all the makings of a GREAT Italian restaurant if it could succumb to a few simple tweaks. I went there with friends recently. The vibe of the places squeals 'style', the friendly smiling attention of the servers likewise. Then we we given the menus. The combination of low light, nothing specific illuminating our table and pale grey printing on the pages of the menu meant... well, it meant we couldn't actually see what was on offer! I am not making this up when I say to read it we had to spark up a smartphone and hold it over the pages and then lean in as a combined trio to pore over the contents. So simple suggestion 1:- Quickly reprint the menus using good old fashioned black ink and save your diners the embarrassment and awkwardness of having to squint like a very squinty thing. Simple Suggestion #2:- If you must play music over the speakers, please, please, PLEASE play something that is in keeping with the stylish vibe of the place. I will remember La Fenice's craptastic selection of horrible saxophone solos, cheesy light jazz rubbish, out-of-tune wailers and (at one point an utterly bizarre choice of) German oompah band music FAR longer than I will remember the food I ate there. And the food is good. One of our party had a pizza which looked inviting and was polished off in its 14" entirety whilst the other two opted for the risottos (mushroom or chicken) which came out from the kitchen hot and steaming and very tasty indeed, garnished and accompanied perfectly.
