Zizzi is one of the cornerstone businesses in sparkling, new, hip and very corporate: "The Hub".
It is very stylish, has ambient acid jazz / techno in the background, and everyone in the place is looking very smart. The food is rather good too.
So why only three stars?
I cannot specifically fault Zizzi for anything. My food was prepared properly, the facilities were clean and I left satisfied...but all those good aspects can all be appropriately modified with the single adjective: corporate.
Zizzi is good like Starbuck's is good. When you enter, you know exactly what you are going to get. No surprises. No flair. A marginally acceptable level of satisfaction for a slightly premium price. If you like, or are just in the mood for, decent mid-to-high-end chain restaurant fare, Zizzi will fit the bill.
As for me? I think eating at chain restaurants is analogous to having sex with Tory women...it might still be fun, but is more likely to be clean and efficient than hot, delicious, and something to bury your face in. read more
