When we called for a pick up at the airport a driver arrived with our car in the promised 15 minutes and when we got back to the car rental location to process the paperwork there was no line and I was quickly out the door. All the staff were very friendly and the car was clean and in good condition. These machines are no joke either modern Yamaha and Sea-Doo jet skis that'll absolutely fly across the water if you let them. Next thing you know, we're out there like a couple of overgrown kids checking off a bucket-list item I normally wouldn't splurge on. Another couple pulled up beside us and suddenly it turned into what felt like the Caribbean Grand Prix. Hard banking turns, hopping wakes, spraying each other with rooster tails of water like a bunch of irresponsible pirates. At one point it felt less like jet skiing and more like bumper cars on the ocean. The laughter, the shouting, the pure reckless joy of the moment it was childish, ridiculous, and absolutely unforgettable. I'm not saying we broke every rule... but I'm also not saying we didn't. Now don't get me wrong be responsible out there. These guys take safety seriously, with briefings, life jackets, and a safety boat nearby while you ride. But I'll say this: from the friendly staff to the convenient location (even our cab driver told us to go there), it turned into one of the most fun memories of the whole trip. Nobody got hurt, nothing got damaged, we didn't get hauled off by the marine police and somehow we rode back to the dock laughing like kids who just got away with something. I usually save my money for boat tours and cruises... but this? Totally worth it. One of the wildest, funniest afternoons I've ever had on the water.

Omar, our driver, was always on time and had the SUV in tip top shape. Clean inside and out and smelled nice. Omar did a great job navigating us back to the airport on the final day of Carnival. I had a "reasonable" experience with Avis St. Thomas. One very nice thing is the airport is small,…read moreso all the car rental companies and even offices for the main resorts are right there inside the baggage claim area. My mom went to get our suitcase while I went to the Avis counter to get the car. We were assisted by Kyle, who had only recently moved to the USVI himself but still was super friendly and tried to give us recs. There were 3 workers there total the day we picked up the car, and 3 other customers (so I had to wait for the first customer to finish). I waited about 15 mins or so, and when it was my turn it took about 20, almost 25 minutes to get the car squared away since they were having some trouble with the system and they also have to go through a laundry list of add-ons that they ask you about buying. Just be prepared for this: from the time of getting off the plane and walking here which only took about 5 mins, we spent an hour just getting the car and trying to head to the ferry port. We had enough time to do that and arrived even a bit early to the ferry, but the roads in St. Thomas are steep and somewhat treacherous so if you are driving and going to the dock for a scheduled ferry ride, make sure you have ample time. For perspective, our flight arrived at 10:50am, we got the car by just around 11:40am, and we drove under the speed limit because of nervousness about the roads so the drive was about 35 mins. I had booked the 1pm departing ferry in advance online but we weren't sure where things were so despite getting to red hook @12:15, we didn't get into the gate area until about 12:25. They started loading the cars about 20 min later at 12:45. Overall: now that I've seen St. Thomas and St. John fairly properly, when I come back to visit I actually don't think I'll bother with a rental car - St. John in particular is walkable in the main area, and there are taxis that go in and out of the national park all the time so if this is all you want to do, you can get by with just taxis. However, if you want to explore a lot of the island, and explore st. Thomas, you may wanna swing for the rental. And of all the places I looked at Avis had the best prices, and despite the wait they were courteous and helpful. Would rec them if you need a car.

We had just landed from a long flight, it was 90 degrees and building was not air conditioned. Woman behind the counter was super unfriendly, and kept trying to sell us add ons and insurance. It took almost 30 minutes before we got the car keys and she said she didn't know what spot it would be in so I'd have to walk around the parking garage with the remote and listen. When we finally found it, the car itself was in reasonable condition and had about 8000 miles on it. There was a large scrape on one side, but there wasn't an available attendant to report it to and I didn't want to woman at the counter again, so I documented it with my camera. It looked like it was vacuumed on the inside, but exterior wasn't washed. When I returned the car, the amount charged was about $25 more than the amount on the reservation. AVIS customer service couldn't locate my account, reservation or even the vehicle number in their system. They told me to send them photocopies of the emails they sent me. UGGH. I rent cars about 10 times a year and will not rent from AVIS again.
