I was going to be in San Diego the week of Labor Day and wanted to see if someone can come and give my dad and I a quote on some clean up at my parents house in Chula Vista. We scheduled for Wednesday, September 4 around 3:30pm. Armond and his cousin Johnny showed up for the walk thru. We had some trash needing to be hauled away in the front and back yard. We need some trees removed in the backyard as well as the front yard. We also needed weeds and other miscellaneous clean-up done. They said it would be a 2 day job and they would be able to handle it. Said that they would be able to give me a quote later in the week. (Which they provided the next day September 5th) We were burying my mom on the 7th, so I was not able to review the quote until after that. They did follow-up and were very respectful of our time and situation. I truly appreciated the low pressure sales. I had made 3 other appointments for quotes, 2 showed up and walked the property, said they would send over a quote, but never heard back from them. 1 was a no show (even wanted to come in earlier). This was a no brainer, as I had a good feeling about Armond and Johnny from the get go! I spoke with Bob from the company to schedule when Armond and his team would be able to start the project. We scheduled for September 26 & 27th, however a miscommunication resulted in Armond & crew starting the job on Friday, September 27th. Armond & crew came first thing Friday morning a little after 8am and stayed for about 6 hours. They were hustling and working very hard! They went and had probably 3 dumps and so far looking good! They came back first thing Saturday morning and finished up the 1st part of the project. They came back on Monday morning to complete what was not done on Saturday. They were able to cut down all the trees & jade plants in the backyard, as well as the trees on the side of the house and in the front yard. They were very professional and got the job done. These are some of the hardest workers you will ever find. For the work they did, they earned every last cent and then some. They were honest, hard working men and we will not hesitate to contact them in the future for all our project needs. Thank you Armond, Juan, Jonathan, Christian, and the rest of your team! You brought some semblance of our parents house. My mom is smiling down from heaven...we can see now the labor of our mom's work in the backyard.

Malcolm, Thank you for reaching out to Johnny's for your landscaping needs. Are you looking for a quote for a one time clean up or a one time clean up and recurring maintenance service? regards, Duy Tran This was my reply: Due Tran, There is no clean up needed. The house has been maintained by my regular gardener but he is retiring. I need a regular recurring service. Malcolm Jarvis This was his reply: Malcolm, We can provide bi-weekly landscape maintenance services for this property for $65 per visit. Please let me know if you'd like to proceed with scheduling the services by providing your full name, email address, and service address. I will send over a proposal for your review and signature. Thank you, Duy Tran This was my reply: Duy, There is very little maintenance required and I am looking for once a month at a reasonable price. Malcolm This was his reply: We can provide once every 4 week service at your property for $95 per visit. This was my reply: Duy, Thank you for getting back to me and working with me. I would like you to visit the property so we can discuss what you will do once every 4 weeks for $95 per. I am available to meet tomorrow, Wednesday, anytime from 10:30 - 1:00, Thursday from 8:00 - 2:00 and Friday 8:00 - 11:00 and 1:30 - 5:00. This was his reply: Malcolm - I just reviewed my routes and my La Mesa routes are completely full with a wait list. I wish you the best of luck on your search for a landscaper. My Thought: If this doesn't sound fishy to you I don't know what would!! I would not trust this guy and I DEFINITELY would not give him any money upfront.

She received a quote and sent me the phone # to schedule since she was busy at work. I reached out, sent photos, and awaited a response. The person I was texting asked if we were looking for reoccurring service or the one time weed removal when I replied requesting just one time service I didn't hear back. I texted again requesting an estimate, no response. Texted again the next day on Wednesday and they finally requested my information. I sent my info, received an email to sign an estimate agreement and after signing and sending it right back I received no response. I texted back that we would be going with a different service who was able to schedule us in. I'm usually really patient but the lack of communication is what bothered me. They were quick to reach back out after sending initial photos but after I opted for a one time service instead of reoccurring services is when I stopped hearing back so quickly. No shade at all if a business doesn't want to offer their services or prefers bigger projects but I would have appreciated better transparency and communication. I'm sure others have had more positive experiences but for me personally I wouldn't recommend this business. I believe in treating every customer with the same respect and willingness to communicate regardless of project size.

Grove Lawn Services worked in our yard several times a month for the last 5 months. They generally…read moredid a good job with lawn and garden care, and were knowledgeable. Their work was excellent, and the yard looked great! The value seemed reasonable. They have a website where you can post special requests, see receipts and future dates to work, and the payments are taken out automatically. They did several extra projects for us, such as planting new flowers and plants. Good suggestions were made to us. Originally we rated them with a score of 5. But there were several issues recently which were upsetting. There were several instances when we were told in person or in an e-mail that a specific project would be done on the next visit, and we would prepare the materials, then were told when they arrived that the project could not be completed, and that we would need to schedule a separate day for it (at an additional cost). We thought it was just a communication problem and starting posting a request on the website each time there was a special project, in case it needed to be completed on a different day. On our original walk through, we asked that everything be left as it is, and just trimmed. Several months ago, one bush which had always been round was formed so that it is now a square shape. We sent a text about it, and also mentioned it in person. No response. Then later, we gave Alex a picture of what it originally looked like and wrote a note asking that the bush be trimmed so that it looked round again. The response was that we did not tell him right after it was cut (which we did), and that we had not specifically specified that it be cut round on our original walk through (we had said not to change anything, as there were many different plants and bushes in the yard, and we could not specify that each needed to be kept as it was), and that the workers would always ask before changing anything (they did not ask). We were told that a specialist would need to be brought in to fix the problem. No apology was given, and it almost seemed as if we were being blamed, when the workers were the ones who had cut it into a square shape and had not asked us about the shape before cutting it. This would have been a minor issue, but instead turned into a big upsetting problem. Also we had been told that there would be a one hour arrival time window. They did send several reminders of the one hour arrival window, and a text saying when they were about an hour away. After several months of arriving within the one hour window, then for the next few months, the actual arrival time was always after the one hour window. Then we asked if the arrival time window could be changed to accurately reflect the actual arrival time, and were told that there was actually a four hour time frame, and that workers would sometimes run later than other days, and the time frame was not changed. We had never heard that this company had a four hour time window before, and would not have hired them if we had known. This also was a minor issue which could have been resolved easily. All of these issue could have been easily solved, but became larger issues because the responses and lack of apology. We decided to go with another company after these issues. We do not recommend Grove Lawn Services.
