This is the best vet office I have been to in 20 years! Well organized, professional and compassionate. I wish I had a vet like this where I live. Dr Carey was my "She-ro" when my cat got hurt fighting with our dog. It was traumatic and she found the problem quickly, with no added upset to my poor kitty. This is modern care with a competent staff. I could not ask for more. We were vacationing in the area. Urgent care like this would cost 3 times the price in Southern California. My bunny was sick with GI stasis. I gave her Meloxicam and gas drops and critical care at home but I decided to take her to Zion Veterinary hospital. Dr. Cook was great and Nicole was awesome as well. They gave me 5 medications to take home for my bunny. Bunny is getting better albeit slowly. I have been taking my 2 Pomeranians to Zion Vet since I moved to Hurricane over 3 years ago. I had been so impressed with Dr Wittwer and felt we received good care from him. However, I called yesterday and again this morning at 8:03 am trying to get an appointment for my Denim who is having upper respiratory problems for the past 3 days. I finally received a call at 9:40 this morning saying all the walk in appts had been filled and would April 24th work with my schedule? Let's see.....that's over 2 weeks away. Are you kidding me? Sure. Let's see if he lasts until that long. I was also advised I was welcomed to take my business elsewhere and Celeste would be so happy to send their records. I'm so glad their office is doing so well that they can just turn away our pups and who knows how many others that have been faithful patients. It must be nice. Thanks for nothing Zion Vet. Unfortunately, I would not recommend Dr. Casey Wittwer at Zion Vet. He seems very quick to find accommodating you and your pet bothersome, and apparently he has so many clients that he does not care if it causes you to seek care elsewhere. In fact, if you insist on decent service, they just tell you to look for another vet. It's a strange way to do business, but that's what this office does. It feels like they are going through the motions, with an assembly line of animals, rather than actually caring for the pets and clients. I'd seek a smaller office with a vet who cares, there are several other good veterinarians in Hurricane and St. George. read more

Zion Veterinary Clinic use to be great! I have been going there with Dr Casey for almost 10 years. They used to care about our pets but then became too big to care. Our older dog was vomiting blood and when I call for an emergency appt, I was told the soonest they could see me is 2 weeks out...and "would that work for you"? Are you kidding me? We have had issues with this vets office. The doctors are OK but not great by any means. While the rest of the staff and the manager are horrible to deal with. If you even complain about there service even a little or how they treat you. They look at you like your shit on a dogs ass and treat you with very little civility. I never use them unless I must and when I do I regret it every time. I had a emergency with my one of my exotics and sadly the other vet clinic I use their doctor is out of town, so I had no choice but to call. At first they were like we can help and get your pet in, but then when they realized who was on the phone they put me on hold followed by proceeding to tell me they are all booked up and couldn't help. Funny thing is I had a friend call with their animal just to see if they could get an emergency appointment and sure enough they were like yup bring the animal in. Of course she didn't need too, she was just seeing if my theory was correct. If the staff and vets truly cared and gave a shit about the animals they would have put the animal first and not there stuck up grudge they have with me. Luckily I was able to find another vet even though very out of the way, but they were professional, kind, and showed far more concern for my pet than Zion did. Never again will I ever use or darken there precious doors that seems to only revolve around money and not the pets well being. Hope this helps for future animal lovers. read more

I've been taking my dog for 4 years now. It's ALWAYS a pain to get him in. They're always "booked out for a month or more." Unfortunately the other vet in Hurricane is not accepting new clients. My dog was having trouble breathing and I called 3 days in a row first thing in the morning to get an emergency appointment and was turned down every time. The person on the phone is what frustrates me. They talk to me like I am stupid and tell me "unfortunately ma'am there is nothing we can do." But........the very very very best thing about Zions veterinary clinic is that they do not take advantage of you financially. Where do I start? I have been driving to hurricane for this vet for years. They used to be good before they hired the rude girl vet and dim receptionist. The female vet has zero bedside manner and belittles you when you have a question. I took both my dogs in for vaccines and a nail trim and they only gave them vaccines. I felt so uncomfortable with the new vet and bit my tongue in response to her condescending comments. I was not going to write a bad review at all because the main vet is a great vet, but.... I came in again today a month later to get my dogs teeth cleaned and nails cut this time.... Drove half and hour like always and they scheduled him on a different date so I'd already missed his appointment when I wrote it down right after scheduling his appointment. I verified my phone number and name both over the phone and in person the last time I came in but still they called my ex husband to remind him of the cleaning appointment (zero existing relationship) so I had no idea it moved. They were not at all apologetic. Instead emotionlessly said I can reschedule. No thank you! Absolutely not sending anymore people their way and will tell them about my experience there. read more

I have a 9 year old miniature shepherd that has a slight thyroid problem. He has been on the same light dose of thyroid medicine for most of his life. They insist on taking blood tests every 6 months even though the dose never changes. It's super traumatic for him and they ask me to muzzle him every time. He only weighs about twenty pounds but he gets super frantic and hard to handle. I understand that once a year they need to see him but it is ridiculous that I have to put him through it every 6 months. Especially since they started charging a refill fee that usually costs almost double what the medication costs. TIME TO FIND NEW VET read more

WATCH OUT! If you call to schedule an appointment for the same day by asking for an opening, (I called at 11:29, and was told to come in at 3:00) they will charge you $60.00! I was never told of this fee, and was a great customer there for years, spending thousands of dollars on my dogs! I will NEVER go back there again! I guess they have to pay for their new building by sneaking in extra charges where they can! Pitiful! Dr. Wittwer you should take care of your customers too, they pay your bills! Shame on you! We sure had high hopes for this place based on the reviews and recommendations but we were very disappointed with the service they provided. We brought our first dog in for his annual checkup, he's a rescue so he's a little shy when it comes to meeting new people but he has NEVER been aggressive, let alone bite anyone. Dr. Goolsby decided that because he was shy and stand-offish that he needed to be prescribed a tranquilizer for future appointments! That was strike one for us. Didn't give any options or advance of trying something natural. Instead they went to the extreme. So then we take in our second dog to get neutered and again nothing goes smoothly. They tried to give us a hard time about his vaccines because there's wasn't a letterhead on the vaccines indicating the shelter we got him from. We let them know we got him from a shelter in Boise and this is all that they gave us. Dr. Goolsby tried to say that the "breeder" could have gotten the vaccines from Tractor Supply so they wouldn't be valid. To why she said he was from a breeder even though we said he was from a shelter, is beside me, other than she was clearly not listening to us. We had to have the shelter call them to prove that yes his vaccines were done properly by a vet BECAUSE HE CAME FROM A SHELTER. The shelter was shocked that the vet was giving us such a hard time (but they still required us to give him his vaccines AGAIN, in order to get neutered). We were told he should be ready to be picked up around 2pm. Well 2 pm rolls around and we still hadn't received a call from the vet to even confirm that the surgery went smoothly or that he's OKAY. We had two other dogs spayed and neutered at Red Hills Animal Hospital in St. George, and both times they called to at least let us know they were fine and out of surgery and recovering. We had to call at 2pm to see if he was ready to go home and they said he's ready to be picked up. A call would have been nice. They also prescribed him the same tranquilizer that they prescribed to our other dog, which again is very odd as our first dog didn't have surgery. We gave the after surgery medication as prescribed and our dog had such a bad experience with the tranquilizer. He was acting like he was scared of his own shadow, kept looking back as if something was after him. He literally buried himself under blankets and stayed there for hours. They didn't inform us of any side effects (other than vomiting after surgery, which he did as well) so we googled it and what do you know! It can cause anxiety and blurred vision. That would have been nice to know before sending him on a bad trip multiple days in a row. I wish it ended there but it doesn't. We had our 3rd dog scheduled for an annual exam and vaccines today, and when we arrived, after taking time off work, they apparently never had the appointment on the schedule. What made it even worse was that the "manager" kept saying well we have no records of the appointment? So basically telling us that we apparently made up the date/time/appt all together. I was able to pull the call log up on my phone and show them that we called on 7/14/2021. Instead of pointing fingers and essentially saying that I must have pulled this appointment out of thin air, they should have tried to make it right, like offer a credit for the next appointment or find room in the schedule, not just have me sit in the waiting room while they whispered to each other behind the desk. Honestly, I just feel like they only care about money and OVER prescribe tranquilizers. They basically give them out like it's candy. So much for being safe with a potentially a medication that can be abused by humans. Our neighbor brought her dog here too and they also got something prescribed for their dog and their dog was acting all skiddish and paranoid. She immediately stopped giving her dog the prescriptions. Just go to St. George, you'll have more options. read more

We had a reactive rescue dog, Raven, a German Shepard who was in a lot of pain in his old age. We went to Zion Vet because they were the closest vet with laser therapy. Since years of drugs were no longer working, it was our last chance. The K-laser treatments definitely made a huge difference; he had restored mobility and we got another year and a half of quality life together before he got cancer at the age of 12. With his calm presence, Dr. Wittwer was the only male veterinarian that our reactive, large-breed dog was ever comfortable with. Our biggest thanks go to the fantastic vet tech.s who worked with our difficult dog and situation. Ruth (who started us off and then took a hiatus), Nicole, and Jeri treated Raven with excellent care and wonderful attention. Being a reactive rescue dog, Raven had no social life outside of his immediate family. In the last year of his life, however, Raven considered treatments with Nicole and Jeri like an enjoyable social visit rather than a dreaded trip to the vet. That added a special dimension to the end of his life. read more

Because of my physical disability, I cannot wear a mask. Today I went in for an appointment for two of my dogs, and I was told that I could not be in the building without wearing a mask. They refused to make any type of accommodation besides saying that I could wait in the car, and they would examine my dogs without me. That is ridiculous. This is the second strike from them as I have had a bad experience before, I will not be back and recommend others find a vet who can be more professional, and more accommodating to disabled individuals. read more

Had a 9 am appointment for here and got there early and got placed in a room with my dog and have waited for over an hour in the room with my pup and no one came in to check on us or anything. Finally after an hour a vet tech came in and asked a few questions and left. Less than one minute of talking to someone after an hour of waiting. And then I waiting another hour and then they finally serviced us. It was not a busy morning. Literally there was one person there before me and the parking lot was empty. I was very disappointed with the treatment I received today on 07/21/2021. I have been using Zions as my Primary Veterinarian for 3 yrs. I called Approximately around 10:30 my cat was making very strange sounds and was laying lifeless on the floor. I was panicked. When I called, I got a receptionist, I explained what was happening and she simply stated. Well we can see her tomorrow at 9:00 but it will cost you a 60.00 emergency fee. I told her the Emergency was now! She simply told me, sorry you can go to the ER vet that opens at 5:00 this evening. I repeated, saying my cat is laying lifeless on the floor making strange noises. So with the help of my Daughter 5 hours away we started calling all the local area vets. We found a Vet that let let me bring her in immediately. Turned out my young Cat was having a Diabetic episode and would have died. read more

We have been going to Zion Animal Hospital since we moved to the community in 2016. The staff here are exceptional and we have been regulars with Dr. Wittwer, Dr. Lucibello and now Dr. Goolsby. We have four animals and two with health issues. The treatments that the animals get is wonderful and we have the utmost confidence in all of the staff here. We came here from Zion Park, where our dog had drank from the Virgin River which is apparently super toxic this summer. We went from having a wonderful day in the park, to being at a vet, scared for our dogs life - it was nuts! But the vet made a bad situation a little better... they cleared their schedule to get him in, were extremely communicative with us, and our doctor was extremely knowledgeable with very kind/calming bedside manner which was comforting. I started going to Dr. Wittwer when my regular Vet was unable to see my dogs. I was so pleased with Dr. Wittwer as he was professional and thorough. Unfortunately, that can't be said for his office staff, as they are very unprofessional and rude, forgetting that the customer should be right. My little girl injured herself and I had called in to make an appointment, which was scheduled the next day without a problem. As I had to go to work in SG, I had to leave her, knowing that she would be seen the next day. She was in pain and scared and jumped my six foot fence and ran away. When I got home, as a courtesy to Dr. Wittwer, I immediately called to cancel the appointment until I found her, which I did later that night. When I called the next day, they couldn't see me and told me to call the next day by 8:00 sharp to make the appointment. When I did, they charged me $60 just for the office visit, normally $45, and $384.26 for the procedure because it was an "urgent" call. Naturally, I was upset and asked to speak with the Manager, who argued with me, didn't recognize that I had an appt, as a professional, called to cancel, called by 8:00 am the next day, as per their customary protocols and yet was charged more. Apparently, they get commission on how much they charge the customer in their time of need. I know I am rambling, but I am hearing negative comments about their charges and am very disappointed in Dr. Wittwer allowing that type of unprofessional behavior, to patients that need him! read more

IF YOU LOVE YOUR ANIMAL, DO NOT BRING TO THIS CLINIC! I brought my dog in with what I thought was a snake bite on his paw. A male came out of the back & I asked if he could help me. The receptionist also went to get help. After waiting for approx 45 min. I was discouraged about the lack of empathy. I left & went to another vet in town but unfortunately, he was in surgery & could not see my dog. I went back to Zion because I was desperate for help. After another 20 minutes the vet probed my dogs paw & finally removed 1 fox tail ($22). The aid gave him an injection of antibiotics which cost $25. The vet bandaged his paw ($25). The visit was $45 & additional medication totaled $150. The next day I was concerned that the bandage might be too tight. I returned to Zion & a male assistant said he would take Duber back & have the vet check him. After several minutes the assistant & vet appeared, handed me Duber & informed me that the bandage on Duber was not done at their clinic. I was appalled. I suggested to the vet that we go to the back where the bandages were kept & I would show him that it was indeed their material. The vet aggressively said no but he would go & get the bandages to show me. He returned with a box of cloth wraps that were obviously way too large & claimed to be those were the only ones he had. In front of 3 other office staff he once again stated the bandage on Duber was not his. At that point I informed him that myself & your staff witnessed you putting the bandage on. He literally told me to get out & never come back. From there I went to the other vet in town who explained to me that the wound should have not been bandaged. He gave me some antibiotic cream to apply. That entire visit totalled $35.00 for everything. This clinic was genuinely concerned. Once again, I would not recommend Zion Veterinary Hospital to anyone! read more

They are a very caring vet office ! Our beloved yellow lab died unexpectedly at sand hollow state park . We tried the other vet down the street and we were given a phone number for the local pet crematory and sent on our way . But with this office they set up all our arrangements for our dogs body and the doctor himself came out to our truck with a coworker and took our dog on a stretcher to await the crematory service to arrive . They understood how important this amazing animal was to us . And then the next week we receive A card signed by the entire staff I wish we lived in the area because we would use them as our vet . I have a 23lb. Miniature (non aggressive fur baby) Australian Cattle Dog, when I called for an appointment to have her nails clipped at ZVC I was told that an additional $15.00 could be charged if it takes two people to hold the dog for this procedure. That really set me off, how would I know if she needs to be held down ... why not just raise your rate for that procedure and be done with it . Fast forward, I have been thinking for a week now over the lousy $15. And, it is not the $ it's the principal. So I canceled her appointment. It is now 9:30 a.m., when I auto dial I am hearing a recording that this number is incorrect, next I called the number with the 435 pre-fix and a recording came on regarding their office hours etc. ZVC has a beautiful new building, perhaps that is the problem $$$, ....other commentaries on ZVC should be read by their clients... beginning of the end.
