It's truly sad when you walk into a shop see how nice it is and how many different things they have to offer only to be deterred away by the attitude of the employee. She kept telling everyone she has worked there a long time, and I believe it's been too long, and you need to retire. We wanted to buy several items, but when it seemed like a chore for her to move to show us something in the case and didn't want to answer questions, we already had one foot out the door. Even before that my hands were full and I decided to place them behind the register on the matted part, but one item hit the edge of the glass, and I thought she was going to jump down my throat. She said VERY sternly don't place it on the glass it scratches it. I said I didn't just one hit the edge. I wanted to walk out then and there and leave with another No sale. Her attitude is horrible. I visited Zion Prospector on 12/27/24 and had an amazing experience with a nice older saleswoman. She helped me pick out a Tiffany stone that was 50% off. I loved my piece so much I went back two days later on 12/29/24 where a different saleswoman named Shelly, immediately gave me a dirty look when walking in and acted like I was going to steal something. When I asked to see the Tiffany stones and asked which ones was on sale, Shelly told me: "none of these are on sale". After I told her I had just bought one two days before she started flipping over crystals on the shelf that had red and yellow dots on the bottom. Shelly then said that she: "wasn't able to sell them at that price" and actively took off the yellow and red sale dots from the stones as she picked them up to show me. She was actively changing prices on me even though the stones are clearly labeled. This woman was nasty, grouchy, and a shady salesperson. I left without buying anything else! My husband and I stopped in about ten minutes before closing as we were driving back to St. George. The female employee greeted us with, "You have four minutes!" Another customer was still browsing and placing things on the counter to buy so we stayed until she was finished with her purchase. Then the employee became chatty when she realized we might buy more expensive items based on which things interested us. Too late. We might come back another time. We might not. We usually buy from Zion Rocks down the road and other stores nearby. This store had nicer, more polished stones and better lighting inside. The cutest little shop in the village that carries amazing stone, jewelry and gifts. I remember passing by many of years ago but never made a stop. This time it was a must. I loved all the things that is carried there. Amazing selections of stoNes, rocks and handmade jewelry. I was amazed with all the geodes and amethyst they carry. The selection was beautiful. Geodes are prices by the pound. Scales are available throughout the stores so you can weigh and see what the price is. The selection of amethysts and other crystal are out of this world. The guy behind the counter, not sure if he was the owner. But very sweet. I picked up a new geodes, and to top it off. They were on sale, holiday sale, 15 to 20 percent off throughout the store. Very glad that I actually had the chance to stop and check this place out. Downfall, it was dark so couldn't really see all the stones that was outside in its natural glory. read more

Terrible and rude service. Would not recommend stopping in here. In another review they had commented back that their prices were clearly marked, they are- but they try to change them when you get to the register. The lady does not welcome you when you come in and is not nice to you until you're leaving. At least the guy says hi when you come in. Not worth time out of your trip to be treated poorly. read more

I am in no way a connoisseur of rocks, stones, crystals or any of that stuff, but I still recommend that you stop by this great little shop while you are walking/driving around Springdale. I was quickly educated on the many types of stones are rocks that were for sale here. Each collection has a description card of what it's made of and when it was formed- which was great! The gentleman that helped us was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He seemed excited to share his love of the stones with us. The store was set up so that browsing was done with ease. I ended up buying a pair of turquoise earrings and a "mud ball' stone carved into a heart shape. This place is wonderful for the young and old to explore and to appreciate the wonders that the Earth has given us. read more

This is a very nice store to buy some interesting rocks and it's just outside one of the main entrances to Zion National Park. They have a lot of unique and interesting items here including jewelry items, clocks made from local and unique rocks. Prices can be expensive but they also do have some less expensive items as well. We were visiting Zion National Park from the East Coast, and stumbled upon this humble gem store. There was a vast selection of various stones, gems, and crystals, many things I've never seen before! I bought the Navajo sandstone tea light candle holder and sculpture - they look just like the gorgeous mountains of Southern Utah and remind me of my trip! The shop has a lovely dog, Luna, who hangs out and quietly greets guests. Staff could be a little more friendly, the gentleman behind the counter seemed annoyed to have to ring me up. I would not purchase from this company. I purchased a loose peridot stone and it broke in half in the plastic case and contacted them within a few days of the purchase. They refused to replace the stone or do anything for me. As a person who has an extensive jewelry and stone collection I have never had this happen before. Definitely stay away. read more

Wow!!! I go to quite a few rock shops & Zion Prospector is now one of my favorites. They had some AMAZING pieces. I won't lie when I say I spent a good amount of money. (As you can see in the pictures) The owner is such a sweet guy and really made me love rocks & crystals even more! I got this awesome microscope flash light that really lets you look at your crystals & rocks. A great experience really. It is a bit pricey, but the pieces are like non-other. Don't shop here. Ok that might be harsh. To be fair they have a decent selection but tge customer service...AWFUL. The lady that was the cashier, Shelley, was extremely rude to me but was sweet as pie to the people before me (and I hate to say it..) that happened to be Caucasian. When it was my turn to pay I was expecting the same treatment, why not right? I'm a paying customer as well, but she basically talked to me like I was an idiot for not knowing where to run my card. Which I believe is her job since she is the cashier right? If I wasn't in a hurry I would have just gone to another shop and honestlyI should have after reading the other reviews. My friends will be coming to Zion and I will make sure to tell them not to shop here. Like others have mentioned, the customer service was not good. It seemed to be an annoyance to ask questions about items in the glass cases because it was interrupting them staring at their phone. My son also bought a leather bracelet here that unraveled that evening. Of course there is a big sign on the door for no returns. This store was selling some incredible smelling room sprays that they had out for sample. I sampled two of them and was planning on buying several when I was told in a condescending tone from across the room to stop sampling because she could "smell the spray from here". If you don't want a room spray to fill the room, don't have samples out to be sampled. Immediately decided to take my business elsewhere and was told in a sarcastic tone to "have a great day" and "you're welcome" (we didn't say thank you). Woman at the desk shouldn't be in customer service in a place that relies on tourism. I was able to sample as many room sprays as I desired EVERYWHERE else in town. SEVERAL OTHER REVIEWS MENTION RACISM. We were treated very differently than the Caucasian family who was in the shop with their children running around, screaming, touching everything and dropping rocks heavily on glass fixtures. read more

We came the day before and the service was ok, there was a dog that was just wandering the store and my daughter wanted to know if it was there today. My daughter asked the lady at the counter she was sooo rude to her! She's only 5 and had never experienced any kind of racism until today. I had to explain to her what happened. Then we went to pay and were expecting to pay the same price as the day before for what we were buying. The way she responded was disgusting. She couldn't manage to crack I smile, not once! Cool rock shop with good prices. Noticed that there were a lot of imports, though. There were some really interesting dinosour fossils, including ones with teeth. Never saw those for sale before. They also have a jewelry section, for those who want something more. For the most part, its quality material. Just make sure you know what you are getting. read more

I came here to get souvenirs for some friends, and they had a great selection at a range of prices! There was a ton of really nice stuff in the $5-$15 range. They also had a super friendly dog who loved being petted! I probably spent almost an hour in here looking at everything (and playing with the dog). read more

Stumble upon this place while walking down the street of Springdale. More window shopping than anything. The store had a nice assortment of unpolished rocks that you can purchase by the pound. Inside there are also a ton of nice polished rocks and rock sculptures that you can take home for souvenirs (however they did seem a bit pricey to me). Terrible customer service. The cashier's mask was under her nose the whole time. There is no social distancing enforced in the store, and customers are not required to wear masks either. The staff is rude. It was the only horrible experience during our lovely exploration of Springdale and Zion Canyon. read more

Great rocks and trinkets . However the sales lady with blond hair and shaved on the left side of her head was the most rude person in Springdale by far! She just sits on her chair and looks on her phone without any greeting or help. She has a sour look on her RBF and when i put a small rock on the glass in front of her she gave me a F. U. look and in a nasty voice said "put the rocks here". There is a pad on the glass counter to put rocks so you don't damage the glass. I didn't notice it at the time. We also went down the street to the next store named "Zion Rock and Gems and they were super friendly and helpful. Quick note to the owner of the Zion Prospector, i had picked out about $150.00 worth of gifts but decided not to purchase only because of the rude treatment. We just happened to stop by while we were visiting Zion park and Springdale. We were fascinated by the variety and materials that they had on hand. Some very beautiful and interesting pieces. We ended up buying a couple after having an educational conversation with the owner. I suggest this as a stop for anyone in the area. Saw a table outside with big jars filled with stuff. Sign said sluice box. When I went in I ask the owner ( I remember him from last time) . Everything I asked he would answer back in a question. I said so it's a surprise what you get inside? He answered " can you see in it?" Like a wise ass. I said no so he answers ," well it's a surprise then" DUH!! wow getting blasting just walking around Springdale checking out the shops. This was a quick walk from our hotel in Zion and I knew my girls (4,6) would love it. Outside they have a lot of uncut or rough rocks and a scale so you can see the weight and price of each item. The girls loved weighing and considering all options. They finally chose and then we checked out inside the store and they went crazy! All the rocks are finished or polished (not sure the proper term) and they wanted to buy them all! We bought them some cute little treasure boxes and they were happy as clams. The man in the store (owner?) was super nice and mentioned by spring of next year they will have a panning option hopefully- can't wait to go back!!! read more
