I was in search of sea moss, and Zion Apothecary is what I found. I had no idea this place existed, but they've been here for 5 years, they said. They have an herb room where they measure the amount you want, bag it, and charge by the gram usually. They had 2 kinds of sea moss, and they're both ground, not the whole dried plant that I'm used to seeing. I asked if it was wild or pooled. He didn't know, but let me look at the packaging. After an internet search, it turns out it's wild. Yay.
The herb room itself is impressive. Worth the visit. But they also sell some trinkets--candles, gummies, essential oils, and lots of kratom, which they grow themselves and apparently know a lot about. I know nothing about it, but after seeing the name all around their store asked what it is. Apparently, it's a strong pain reliever, mood and energy booster. I just looked it up online and it comes with a liver toxicity warning if abused.
Anyhow, it's a neat spot in the Willow Lawn area. read more
