I have been to to this restaurant on 2 occasions, the first was to eat in and even though the restaurant was not even 3 quarters full we were told to sit at a table in the very corner, which was just about big enough to fit the 2 of us. We asked to move to a table which would normally occupy 4 and were looked at in disgust at our request. After the waiter spoke to the manager it was finally agreed that we could move to the larger table but might have to move back to the smaller table if it got busier...............it was already 9.30pm at this stage on a Wednesday night so how they thought they were suddenly going to fill 3/4 of the restaurant in the next hour I dont know considering they had no other bookings?! We also had exceptionally bad service that night and were not left by the waiter who felt it was his duty to speak to us all night - I'm surprised he did'nt pull up a chair!!!! We decided to give the restaurant another chance and ordered a takeaway from them a few weeks later - well on arrival I was barked at by what appears to have been the manager informing me that there was in fact no takeaway orders - at which point a lovely lady came out with my takeaway order in her hand. This so called manager then insisted I tell him what it was I had exactly ordered and then had the cheek to tell me I needed to pay with the exact change - my takeaway came to £23.56 and I gave him £25 in notes.................hmmmmm surely they had enough change on the premises to give me a mere £1.44 back?!? It seems that since they have moved to their larger premises they have not been able to cope and therefore I am not even going to give their fish restaurant a chance when that opens across the road in their old premises. All in all very disappointing and not a restaurant I will recommend, it also seems that the majority of people I know who have been have had a similar experience - such a shame as it used to be one of the best Italian restaurants in the area! read more

We were a small group of 5 ladies to visit this restaurant and it was a Thursday evening. The atmosphere was great and we all felt had a real "holiday" feel about it. There was an entertainer singing and we enjoyed his singing. My 4 other friends felt the prices were quite expensive so they decided on ordering pasta's and pizza's which were much more reasonably priced. Sadly when the lasagna's arrived they were luke warm but the chicken dish and a noodle dish was delicious. We were very surprised when we decided to order a bottle of the house white wine. The waiter informed us that the house wine was not very nice and recommended we order a more expensive bottle. Despite the warning, we decided to gamble on the house wine, (most of us were driving and only wanted a small glass to be sociable.) When the wine was served it was pretty awful! We were all so confused as to why they would stock such horrible wine, particularly as they knew it was of poor quality. Overall however, we had a fun evening and we will give this restaurant another try. Hopefully the same singer will be there to serenade us and their house wine will have improved by then! read more

Very disappointing. Had been there twice in the week and have had lovely meals. It was my mother's birthday so decided to take her there with my sister on a Saturday lunch time(Party of eight). Four people wanted lasagne but only one available but could wait half an hour if prepared to wait.We did this however after about forty minutes they served the other meals then after about another ten minutes bought out one meal of lasagne to try.This was not hot enough so was returned. I think in future they should say only one available and that is it! This episode really ruined the whole meal and they did not even offer us anything of the meal. Very disappointing and we will not go there again. it is a great shame when you look in there on a Saturday lunch time and there is hardly anyone in there but now we can see why! read more

i went to this restaurant with my husband and all i can say is that the service is awful. I will not be going back here even though i am local and i will ensure that i tell my friends about my experience. First of all, when we arrived we were ignored for 5 minutes even though we had booked. When we were seated at our table we had to wait 15 minutes before our drinks order was taken. We had to ask for bread (even though all the other tables around us had been given bread). My husband's main course was served and we had to wait 10 minutes for mine to arrive. The food was average and the old waiter was cringeworthy. However, all the older women seemed to lap up his smarmy charm. Not a restaurant i would recommend. read more

Well, the kitchen have got it right. The menu is interesting and extensive, the food was well prepared and well presented, the proportions were generous and brought to the table with neither undue haste nor noticeable delay. Front of house remains a work in progress. "The old waiter" referred to in a previous review no doubt means well but is too much in-your-face and eventually became an irritant. Bread wasn't brought to the table until after the first course was served, we had to ask for serving spoons for the main course vegetables and simple requests to a couple of waiters became complicated because of their limited understanding of the English language. read more

We have just come home after celebrating my son's 18th birthday at Zio's. I was a bit concerned after reading some of the reviews but I am delighted to say that any fears were totally unfounded. We had a delicious lunch and everything was well cooked to everyone's satisfaction. The restaurant is very nicely furnished and the menu has a good range of dishes. The service was well paced and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Really I can't fault it and we are looking forward to celebrating the next family birthday there in the New Year. If you want great Italian food I can definitely recommend Zio's. read more

Me and my family tried zio's for the first time the second week they'd opened. And must say it was lovely,we met the owners , they made us feel so welcome as did the staff. The food was incredible i had the scalops and king prawns as a starter and i must say ive never eaten somthing so tasty.My husband had the salmone and my kids had pizza which were also very good. It is hard to get a table there as its so busy so its best to book well in advanced. definitely the best restaurant around read more

went to new restaurant, corner ashley road and had to wait over an hour for a waiter to take our order and then over 45 mins for it to be served EXCUSE..... they had a large party (8) in on that friday and they were busy... and this after only being open a couple of weeks, would not go again, after complaining service very off handed. MUST MENTION WE WERE SITTING OUTSIDE AND THERE WAS A PARTY OF 7 GENTLEMEN SITTING TWO TABLES AWAY, ALL SMOKING CIGARS. read more

What are these negative reviews. Zio's restaurant is amazing,been going there since i was a kid. The new place is also amazing the staff are friendly and the food is better than ever and the menu is original not like the rest off the wanna be italian restaurants around the area. Great Food - I had scallops & king prawn starter followed by pork with porchini mushrooms followed by chocolate something or other - delish. the only thing that lets it down is the crockery, more suited to a staff canteen - however I can live with that for the food and the staff are great Will be back for sure ;) read more
