They ended up filing our taxes late, AFTER the October extension deadline, despite us giving them all documents in early March 2021 and following up repeatedly. While I completely understand they (and the IRS) are short staffed due to Covid, this doesn't explain why it took over 7 months for them to file. This was especially frustrating since we received borderline rude responses each time we followed up. They told us we were due an IRS refund, but we ended up getting a letter from the IRS saying we owed money because our preparer didn't specify that our payment should be made under the primary payer. We are still waiting on our refund and Viridian has never admitted any fault. When I requested an itemized bill to make sure we weren't being charged for status updates due to their late filing, they sent me the vaguest possible breakdown and literally said, "You were fortunate to have been billed so little in past years."
