    Vegan Gyro
    Jason C.

I was wandering by from somewhere else and was jonesing for lunch. I got the vegan gyro, and it was delicious! The herbs and flavoring were perfect. The salad and potatoes were just right as accompaniments. The pita was nice and fluffy with a sumptuous amount of hummus. Would totally come back some time!

I tried the lamb gyro which was fresh and just right. I'm happy to have a new place on the peninsula that isn't just pizza and burgers. The inside is decorated with a soccer theme and they have TVs inside and out on the covered patio so if your looking for somewhere to watch a game and get some non traditional bar food this would be your spot. They also have beer on tap and serve wine and mixed drinks.

Stop here before our grandson's soccer game. Great lamb gyros and hummus. Highly recommend

Awesome food. Flavor. People. They typically have soccer playing on the TVs. Outdoor patio is fun!

Pretty solid Mediterranean option in St Johns! I got a couple gyros that were tasty and I look forward to going back and trying more.

So good! Big flavors. Fresh. Got the Horiatiki salad, Loukaniko sausage, and Piperies skewers. Will try the whole menu.

My husband & I, my sister and my son all went for lunch on a Saturday. It wasn't quite what I was expecting but we were all pleasantly surprised. Everybody but me got the spiced lamb souvlai, which was ground meat on a skewer. I tried the oregano chicken. Mine was tender, flavorful grilled chicken. I loved it! I have always thought of souvlaki as a Greek version of a gyro-meat in a pita wrap with sauce & veggies. Not here. You get the meat and a pickled vegetable and that's it. That's why you need some sides and bread. The bread is better than a lot of pita I've had. We also got an order of hummas (some of the best I've had anywhere. Maybe it's because they put a dab of zhoug-a mixture of herbs & spices packed with flavor. It was as smooth as silk), as well as beet salad. It had quinoa that seemed to have been fried because it had a slight crunch which I loved. It was the perfect foil for the golden beets and radish in the salad. We ordered just the right amount of food for the 4 of us (one piece of pita each, one salad, one hummus and an order each of souvlaki). I noticed some vegetarian options on the menu as well. We all agreed we want to come back and bring the spouses who couldn't make it. Looks like I forgot to take pics of the meat. You'll just have to be surprised!

I loved the wood fire as it kept us warm. As for the food it was not bad but not good either. The wedge salad is one of my favorite salads but the Bluto Wedge has a lot going on. Too many rich flavors, to the point of too much. It tasted like horseradish, with dill, and bacon grease. I personally love the taste of salad so don't need mine drenched in dressing like this one was. The Greek fries were cooked well but again too salty and over seasoned. The best part of the meal was the pita bread, it was cooked perfectly!

We came to celebrate not one, not two, but three birthdays (mine, my brother's, and my son's) -- and Trela rose to the occasion like a perfectly baked spanakopita. Let me tell you, this wasn't your average family dinner. We had foodies in the mix -- my father-in-law and mother-in-law, who have taste buds so discerning they could probably host their own Michelin inspections. Yet even they were nodding in approval between bites of the lamb Osaka (divine), kebabs (perfection), and enough appetizers to make Zeus jealous. The food? Amazing. The service? As warm and genuine as a Greek grandmother insisting you have "just one more plate." The atmosphere? The kind of place where you half expect someone to smash a plate and shout "Opa!" -- in the best way possible. We left full, happy, and already planning our next visit. Trela Kitchen & Taverna doesn't just serve food -- it serves a full-blown Greek celebration. Highly recommend... just make sure you stretch first, because the food and joy come in generous portions.

Talk about FLAVOR! This place is awesome!…read more We started with a plethora of items and here were the highlights from the evening: * Three Dip Combo - DO IT!!! - You can't go wrong! We did the Tzatziki, Hummus & the Tyrokafteri, which is the spicy and creamy feta dip with roasted red peppers. The Tzatziki was so flavorful and delicious. Sometimes Tzatzikis can be watery, and this one was perfection! The Tyrokafteri was outstanding! Our entire table could make a meal just off of that! * Calamari - Crisp, seasoned to perfection and gave ample tentacles and body pieces, which is so nice to have an assortment. * Saganaki - This is the flaming cheese dish and it's so yummy. The table side floor show is just a bonus! When it came to Salads, we choose the Saláta Ándrou, and that is MONEY!! It has toasted breadcrumbs at the base, and they toss it with heirloom tomatoes, capers, onions, and feta, finished with a balsamic glaze. Your breath will smell of onions, but it's totally worth it. The breadcrumbs and capers are 'chef's kiss!' We split the Grilled Marinated Lamb Chops, the Slow Braised Lamb Shank, and the 'Kabab me Pligiuri', and the lamb chops with the chimichurri was definitely my favorite. The polenta that was served with the braised lamb is unique and sweet and the perfect accompaniment to the dish. If you order dessert, everyone who is of legal drinking age, is served a small glass of a Greek Liquor and it was truly delicious. Angelica was our server and she was so incredibly sweet and kind, and so wonderful to chat with! The owners of this restaurant are so kind and down to earth and we highly recommend coming with your own family. OPA!

I came in with friends who are vegan and gluten-free, and before we even had to ask, the staff marked up our menus with everything they could eat. Not just a couple sad options either. A ton of them. This kind of consideration is something I've noticed across Portland, and it's a big part of why I love visiting. Food-wise, we had some real standouts. The roasted carrots were deeply flavorful, the curried black lentil salad had that perfect balance of hearty and bright, and the tahini ice cream was one of those desserts you keep thinking about after the trip ends. Also, do not skip the beer with a slushy float. It sounds chaotic, but somehow it works. Fun, refreshing, a little unexpected. Come hungry, especially if you're dining with mixed dietary needs.
