I'd call this joint more of a micro-brewery that serves grub, but that's just me. I'm all about the beer; the current brewer is a young dude with solid experience from apprenticing for however many years they do back in his home country of Germany. His Hefeweizen tastes of the Fatherland. -love it. I've also had the black lager, and that, too, is a treat. The hubs and I have occasionally schlepped a mini-keg (four or five pints' worth?) of beer over the hill to keep in the fridge which has been met with varying degrees of success because once the keg is 'tapped', then the brew goes flat fairly quickly, so drink up! From an American perspective: Great menu with a nice variety of pizzas and pasta dishes. Very generous portions (even by American standards), and fairly priced. Excellent service and lots of indoor and outdoor seating with parking right out front. Would definitely recommend and return, especially for those looking for a break from traditional British food. read more

I just love this place! A friend of mine recommended it for a night out with the boys and we decided to check it out. I had heard of this place before, but I wasn't expecting it to be so good. They have their very own brewery and I'm not over-exaggerating when I say this was one of the best beers I have ever drunk. On top of that their Peri-Peri chicken and Peking duck pizzas were simply delicious. The decoration is very innovative, definitely a breath of fresh air from the typical over the top paintings and strange sculptures. I was having a bad day that same evening, but the waitress was really friendly and quite charming which totally boosted my mood up. Just not the same since their refurbishment. Quality has dropped significantly. Pizza is no longer as good as it used to be. The best pasta dish they used to make - Farfalle alla vodka - is gone. I think they didn't retain any of the original staff when they refurbished and I'm afraid it shows. read more

I love the concept but the execution wasn't so hot. Kudos for finding (making) a table for us when 17 people rolled up at 830pm on a Saturday night. I tried to use the checkin deal (free order of dough balls ... yes, just like the ones you get at Pizza Express) to MUCH confusion and anxiety on the part of both the waiter and the manager. At one point I was asked for my name (?) which was written down and one can only assume filed away for later, even more anxious contemplation (What is this "yelp"? What is a "check in deal?" "Who is Lauren and why the f*ck is she so special?"). Lots of pizza choices and they sounded fairly good. But they looked pretty mundane (the roasted veggie particularly looked ugly). I went for the goat cheese salad and it wasn't bad, but just sort of meh. The mango beer (this is a microbrewery, which is awesome. except it wasn't) was way too sweet. Half way in I was done. Staff were pretty good, didn't mess up ANY orders and multiple-card payment went off without a hitch. This place just wasn't my thing, food or beer wise. read more

This was my second or third outing to Zero Degrees in Blackheath. As a devout microbrew fan, there is nothing I love more than a finely crafter beer...other than a tasty pizza to go with it! Well, look no further, this little gem just south of the heath has great beers and tasty pizzas. While our service was really slow and lacking, the manager at least took notice and comped our pizza. The best deal going is that if you spend £30 or more, you get a mini-keg of there beer. This is about 10.5 pints of beer...for free! Sadly, it took us only about two days to plow through our free keg, but man, was it worth it. This deal alone will consistently bring me back. One of the beers is one of the best beers in warm weather. There is nothing like warm weather in Blackheath. Pop down to Zero Degrees and grab a Pilsner, they serve others but this is easily the best of their in-house brews and ask for a plastic glass and go enjoy the weather. The other beers are average and the atmosphere is more restaurant-bar then bar-restaurant. Also best on a busy day as there's a great chance of getting a fresh barrel and by that I mean beer made that day! read more

Microbrewery in the heart of Blackheath. Great beer and great food...the pizzas are really inventive. Peking duck pizza is highly recommended. You can also check out the brewing system to the right of the bar, which is pretty cool. And on a Monday (I really questioned whether I would write this because I don't want it to get overly busy, haha) they do "beat the clock" Monday where your main course is charged at the time you order. Order at 7pm, pay £7 (which depending on what you get is around 50% off)! There is a supplement for mussels. I got mussels last time and have to say they weren't amazing. It was as if the mussels were poured on top of the sauce so they weren't even coated in sauce! I'd go for a pizza next time. They have an outdoor sitting area plus an upstairs outdoor patio. The place is deceptively big inside! One last thing: they operate a no-trainer policy on Friday and Saturday nights so leave your Nikes at home! read more

I was visiting a friend in Lewisham, and was asked what my preference for dinner was. As soon as I said I fancied seafood, she got this look of delight on her face and said Zerodegrees was her absolute favorite local spot for mussels. I too, love mussels! We had an overall really enjoyable dinner. The breakdown: Beer: 5 stars. Had a really, really great IPA. I wish I weren't a lightweight so I could have had a second. I get the feeling this place is well loved for their microbrews. Food: 4 stars. Got the kilo of mussels and chips - really tasty and flavorful, but a third of my mussels weren't open :( Ambiance: 3 stars. Specifically asked for a quieter table when we booked (they gave us the option) - were put in probably one of the loudest parts of the restaurant. Service: 3 stars. Really friendly waiter, bizarrely and incredibly slow to bring the check. Had to ask 3 times. I would go back, if given the chance. I found Blackheath to be quite cute, and this place to be a very decent local spot. read more

I straight up, LOVE this place. Ok. I'm a little biased. It's one of the first bars that I started going to when I first moved to London. But in my opinion, if you find yourself in Blackheath one evening, there's no better place to start. The mood in there is pretty good - there's a few pretentious sorts floating around Blackheath, and I guess one or two of them could wind up in here, but not enough of them to sour the mood - a good cross-section of people, certainly no scumbags in here though. The restaurant, which is located in a sunken area to your left as your walk in is excellent. A great mix of food, cooked up by an open kitchen which is viewable from most of the restaurant and bar. Great mussels hear... I promise! The bar serves up the usual mix of wines and spirits but the highlight is the beer selection which comes straight from Zero Degrees' very own microbrewery. Tubes travel from massive tanks in the front of the building, up to the high ceiling and down into the bar, delivering some of the nicest beer I've ever tasted. Ales, Lagers, Bitters, Stouts - all catered for here and VERY reasonably priced. (£2.50 last time I was there). There's a comfortable seating area tucked around the back section of the premises which has a TV for those wishing to catch a bit of sport and extra seating upstairs as overspill for the restaurant (which looks down onto the main area), Give this place a go... if I still lived in Blackheath I'd still be going there now - but I still get the urge to return now and then and it still doesn't disappoint. Zero Degrees is a fabulous bar and restaurant! It's a microbrewery and they only serve their own (tasty) beer plus various wines/spirits. They also do food along the lines of pizza, pasta, risotto etc. which is similarly good quality and decent value. The atmosphere is great with a buzz of conversation around the room. The service is really friendly and you can see even the staff seem happy to be there. Zero Degrees is very popular so I suggest booking a table if you're going for dinner in a group. read more

Zerodegrees is one of those places where you know what you want. This is not a place you can just walk into and expect to be able to order anything you would like. The menu is narrowed down to pizzas, mussles, various kinds of beer and a few simple desserts. Yes, it may sound cheap, but trust me when I say that this is some good quality food. I think this restaurant is great, not only do you get some really nice freshly cooked food but as a bonus they brew their own beer on site. I have been to Zero Degrees quite a few times in the past but Christmas is always my favourite, as they put on their special menu, and last time I went at Christmas they had real calamari, and I don't mean the breaded variety, plain squid with tentacles and all, and it was amazingly tasty. I usually go for their dark beer which is really nice, I even brought a small keg of it which works out really cheap to have some at home! read more

Zerodegrees is one of my prefered places in Blackheath, with good pizzas (think a gourmet style of the Pizza Express offering) and fresh, cold microbrwery lagers. As other reviewers have said, the staff are helpful and offer prompt service. The only downside is the lack of seating available for drinkers, with the entire upstairs area reserved for the restaurant, a couple of big groups can quickly take up all available tables. read more

Went last night and started the evening by picking a fresh beer off their menu of pale ale, wheat ale, stout, lager and special (a viennese lager). Prices are reasonable (£2.70/pint) for what turned out to be really fresh, tasty beers, it's good to be reminded how much impact pasteurisation and old age have on beers at most places. They also had wines and cocktails but I can't comment. Then we moved on to the page of pizza options at the restaurant, I can recommend the mango and tandoori chicken. There were also pastas and the usual meat-based mains. They were nice big pizzas with lots of topping and super-friendly staff, good to know that if you do add the tip on the credit card bill it gets shared between the serving staff. Worth mentioning that I'd love to split the rating between a five for the beers and place as a bar (you can also takeaway kegs!) while the restaurant is a four. read more

Well, I've been to Zerodegrees twice now and had one great meal and one bad one. I do like the atmosphere of the place (who doesn't like a microbrewery???) so I would definitely go back, but now I know what to avoid menu-wise. The first meal I had there was mussels and yes it's true, they do cook them well here. I opted to go classic with the mariniere sauce and it was tasty. I was also impressed that they offered so many different mussel options. The second meal I had here was, well, kind of gross. I ordered the BBQ Chicken Salad. I know that when you put hot chicken on top of lettuce and other cold items the chicken will cool down, but by the time the salad found its way to the table the chicken was ice cold. Whatever BBQ sauce they used was definitely low-end from a bottle and the corn tortilla chips were cold and greasy too. It was one of those meals where the whole time I was looking longingly at the pizzas and fries everyone else had ordered. I suppose that's what I get for trying to be healthy. read more

This place is cool. Really good pizzas and tons of different options. They also have salads and mussels and other yummy things. The service is mediocre but the food and the price makes up for it. It's a brewery so they've got some great beers! We love coming here on Mondays cause they run a great special where you pay for your entree at what time you arrive. The only real issue we have is they close whenever they're not busy or when they want to and they don't respect the business hours posted. It can be frustrating so make sure to call and check if they're still serving! read more

This is definitely a place to keep in mind if you are in Blackheath with friends. The decour is a cool kind of industrial theme with exposed piping and the place is big enough to usually be able to find a table. I've only ever had the duck pizza (yes, duck pizza!) when I've been here, but that's because it's so good that I keep ordering it every time instead of trying something new! read more

I would definately recommend this place- the food is great, and the beer always fresh, although i don't think too much of the sports being played all the time!. the staff are very good and polite. i would recommend you try the speciality beer, which changes from time to time. Give the cocktails a go as well- fresh ingredients mean that even though it'll cost you, you will be wanting more! read more

Busy, multi-level microbrewery and restaurant. Brews a wide variety of its own beer and will also sell you a cask of it to take home with you. Very good food in large portions. I especially enjoyed the pizzas. Trendy, polished aluminium decor and low lighting give it a very modern feel. read more

I love this place. It is a really roomy, modern, yet still inviting space. The food is great, love the mussels and pizzas best. The beer is wonderful, crisp and fresh. Great place to take children too. You can see how they make the beer as all the pipes and gubbings are on display, which adds to the atmosphere. I love it when they do a special fruit beer sometimes, it goes down really well. You are also able to buy kegs to take home which would be great for a party. My favourite drink is the wheat beer, lovely and cool served in a nice clean glass. There is plenty of room for dining as they have a sort of a mezzamine level, great for people watching. read more

This is a fantastic micro brewery located right in the heart of the village. Limited on street parking outside and just a few minutes from the railway station. It has quite an interesting entrance as you can see the micro brewery. The interior is quite industrial and less comfortable - but I come here for the beer which is excellent. The customer service is especially good and the bar staff will be more than happy to provide you with a try before you buy. Th summer beers over recent years have been great - think mango beer, banana beer etc. Even better, they do take away casks which you can buy from the bar and take back home - ideal when they ahev their seasonal beers. Try the wheat beer too - but make sure you get a train or taxi home! Very recommended. I found the food offerings fairly average. read more

Been going there lots over the years and the mussels and pizza are great - mussels in champers and salmon sauce is to die for, however what is getting worse is the service. They are really starting to extend the period between ordering and the food arriving. Took 5 mins to get the waitress to come to our table, then drinks came and another 10 mins for the starters and then another 10 mins for the main course. Last time this happened there were 5 tables only of diners. Think they doing it to get you to drink more as very quick to ask if you need another drink while waiting for the food read more

Service has improved (it was shocking in the restaurant). Pizza's and mussels are nice. Salad is smothered in dressing, so recommend you ask for it on the side if you still want to be able to taste everything else. Great selection of drinks. Love the vanilla vodka. read more

My girlfriend and I had an enjoyable weekday dinner at ZeroDegrees. The food and the service were both clear highlights. We had some of the best pizza we've ever tasted, with the menu's creativity being a big plus point (we heartily recommend the Peking duck pizza!) The staff were very friendly and polite, and service was quick. We liked the venue - the modern, industrial feel is a change from many Greenwich/Blackheath restaurants. The beer, which is put forward as somewhat of a USP, didn't leave much of an impression. That said, we might be spoiled by the close proximity of the excellent Meantime brewery. Our only significant criticism would be that the restaurant was far too cold - that a number of diners were sitting in anoraks should have been a warning sign! It was the first week of January and the cavernous layout of the restaurant probably makes it hard to heat, but all the same this was a disappointment in what was otherwise a very enjoyable visit. We will certainly go again, but perhaps not until the spring! read more

Zero Degrees is great at what it does namely pizza and beer. Other items on the menu are best ignored to avoid disappointment. A word of warning on a recent visit the pizza's we chose had far too much salt, due in part to excess anchovies. Not a problem i normally experience there. I think the menu has changed recently with a few too many experimental pizza toppings for my liking. They need to stick to doing the basics well or risk upsetting the winning formula here.
